“ | I enjoy my work; sorry if that bothers you. Oh, very sorry, really. But there it is. And it's not just any old killing, of course. It has to be done the right way, at the right time, with the right partner--very complicated, but very necessary. | „ |

“ | And I remembered that when the dark passenger takes over... It doesn’t matter where I am. Whether the moon is over Miami or Melbourne... Death works the same way everywhere. | „ |

“ | Whatever made me the way I am left me hollow, empty inside, unable to feel. It doesn’t seem like a big deal. I’m quite sure most people fake an awful lot of everyday human contact. I just fake all of it. | „ |

~ Dexter Before Killing Father Donovan |
“ | He used his whole face to close his eyes. He could not look, not now, not like this. I did not blame him, not really, it was a terrible mess. It had bothered me just to know it was there since I had set it up for him. But he had to see it. He had to. Not just for me. Not just for the Dark Passenger. For him. He had to see. And he was not looking.
"Please," he said in a terrible little whimper. It got on my nerves very badly, shouldn't have, icy-clean control, but it got to me, whining in the face of that mess on the floor, and I kicked his legs out from under him. I hauled hard on the noose and grabbed the back of his neck with my right hand, then slammed his face into the filthy warped floorboards. There was a little blood and that made me madder. "Open them," I said. "Open your eyes. Open them NOW. Look." I grabbed his hair and pulled his head back. "Do as you're told," I said. "Look. Or I will cut your eyelids right off your face." |

Summary
Dexter Morgan is the main character of his comic book series. The series consists of 10 different comics and the first five follow the story of him and his sister Debra working together trying to find evidence that Steve Gonzalez is a murderer. The second set of comics follows Dexter being called to Australia to help find who has been killing large groups of people.
Dexter is the adopted child of Harry Morgan and Doris Morgan, as well as the adopted brother of Deborah Morgan. During his time at Coconut Grove High School, Dexter was bullied by a Cuban student known as Steve Gonzalez. After a pep talk with his father, Harry, Dexter attempted to make Steve pay for the abuse to the point of putting Steve on his table. However, Dexter was interrupted and was unable to kill Steve. As a teenager, Dexter realized that he was uninterested in sex or dating and needed instruction by his father on how to interact with women. As stated in Darkly Dreaming Dexter, after high school, Dexter completed his studies at the University of Miami. When Dexter was 19, Harry fell ill of coronary disease and was confined to a hospital where Harry spotted First Nurse who was purposefully overdosing patients on morphine. Harry gave Dexter his permission to kill her. She was Dexter's first human victim. Later, Dexter married Rita Bennett, who became Rita Morgan. He has a biological daughter named Lily Anne Morgan and two step-children, Cody and Astor Bennett.

Powers and Abilities:
- Superhuman Physical Characteristics
- Genius Intelligence
- Demonic Possession:
- Multiple Selves (Type 2) and Clairvoyance/Precognition (While killing a fellow prisoner he describes the situation as though the dark passenger takes over. His dark passenger seems to have the ability to warn him when he's not seeing something[1][2][3], had a "feeling" that someone was going to kill again and the next day he was proven right, He was able to do something similar on a separate occasion[4]. His ability to always know if a person was evil or not seemed to be connected to his dark passenger[5]. Felt a connection to the Tamiami Butcher that was so strong that it made him go out driving at 4 in the morning for seemingly no reason. This culminated in him happening upon the real Tamiami Butcher. He is also seemingly possessed by a literal demonic entity with it seemingly coming out occasionally and talking for Dexter. He even calls it an "entity" and when talking to Jamie he referred to himself as "we". Knew just by looking into the nurses eyes for a second that she was completely deranged[6]. Dreamt about a triple homicide and when he awoke his dream proved accurate[7]. At multiple points throughout the first book he closes his eyes and gets very clear vision relating to the current situation. Even in a mentally weak state he could sense that he was being watched by someone via his Dark Passenger warning him[8] and even without the assistance of his Dark Passenger he’s able to feel when he’s being stalked[9]. Despite only hearing the sound of a car accident he somehow knew that Rita had been involved surprising even himself[10]. Dexter is even able to point blank ask for confirmation from the Dark Passenger and it will answer back[11])
- Extrasensory Perception (Anyone with a dark passenger is seemingly able to see other peoples dark passengers. Even Cody was able to see the man stalking Dexters dark passenger, describing it as a "big shadow".[12] Dexter also says multiple times throughout the series (most consistently about Doakes) that their dark passengers will "snarl and growl" at each other)
- Fear Manipulation/Aura and Madness Manipulation (Type 3; When he tried to keep a dog it howled and barked for two days straight. When he tried to touch a turtle it hid in its shell for days until it eventually starved to death.[13]. Despite his generally successful masking people like Doakes, LaGuerta and even Deborah occasionally feel uncomfortable/"get the creeps" from him. When he was talking to Donovan the Dark Passenger used it true voice to talk to him, this caused Donovan to completely freeze in fear and when he made eye contact with Dexter he again went completely still because he "saw something in his eyes".[14]. Characters with dark passengers can seemingly sense each other with it being described as if their dark passengers are "growling and snarling at each other". Even Cody is capable of intimidating police officers to the point that they let him go into an active crime scene[15]. Dark Passengers themselves are capable of passively causing fear even when they are actively trying to "mask it's power", at their best they are able to cause people to go completely mad and unknowingly kill people)
- Possibly Instinctive Action (When Dexter describes killing his victims it's described as if the Dark Passenger at least partially controls Dexters motor functions therefore no conscious effort from Dexter himself is always necessary. When Dexter defends himself from Doncevic it's seemingly portrayed as the Dark Passenger reacting to the attack on Dexter's behalf "...The rising sound of wind that whooshed in my ears turned into the roar of the Dark Passenger spreading it wings"[16])
- Statistics Amplification (Dexter states that when the Dark Passenger is driving he "never feels more alive". He even seems to get a sort of pseudo night vision, along with several other senses being heightened. Dexter also says he gets sens of "intoxicating power" potentially meaning he gets stronger)
- Vehicular Mastery (Chased after Brian going 20 miles over the speed limit, despite obstacles such as pedestrians getting in the way. He was able to successfully keep up with Brian despite his brothers clear skill with vehicles. Drove at 70 miles per hour in pitch black darkness safely[17]. Seemingly a master of defensive driving as he is able to calmly drive through Miami which is described in the books as being filled with lunatics who normally drive 60 miles over the speed limit[18])
- Stealth Mastery (Could sneak up on Steve even as a kid[19]. Could hang up pictures of Jamies victims without him noticing despite Jamie being just a few meters away from him. Followed Simeon and Doncevics car without either of them noticing him[20]. He and Brian could sneak onto Raul's Yacht killing three guards undetected)
- Weapon Mastery (Threw a tool with enough strength and precision to puncture a mans shoulder[21]. Stated to be a "Good shot", was taught how to shoot a gun by Harry (Harry is both ex-military and an experienced police officer), he used this knowledge to shoot Starzak and Wilkins in quick succession as they were both charging him[22]. Threw a guard to the ground managed to disarm him quickly take his knife and stab him in the chest before he could properly defend himself[22])
- Martial Arts (Throughout the books Dexter is shown to be an extremely skilled and intelligent fighter being able to easily defeat armed opponents despite being unarmed or even defeating multiple opponents at once usually while suffering a physical injury, Dexter's fighting style can change drastically depending on the situation usually focusing on grappling attacks when fighting armed combatants but in certain situations when he's unable to do that for whatever reason he's easily able to switch up his style of combat on a dime; Was able to effortlessly disarm and kill a man in only a few seconds. Effortlessly overpowered, outskilled and oneshotted a guard despite being under the effects of a sedative[23]. Kicked Doncevic in the side of the head knocking him out cold and disarming him[16])
- Acrobatics (Easily jumped over a large gate[10]. After tripping while running at top speed he was able to tuck into a ball and somersault back to his feet[24])
- Hacking (States that he's "very good at using a computer to find information"[25]. He also implies that he taught himself how to do that[26]. Hacked into the servers of a very prestigious and heavily guarded club in under 30 minutes[27])
- Social Influencing (Charisma - Easily able to charm people into liking him, including LaGuerta, even to the point where she became infatuated with him[28]. Convinced Steban to let him and Debra into the hockey arena despite not having a warrant and Steban being fearful that he could lose his job[29]. Calmed a woman down in seconds despite the fact that she was on the verge of a panic attack[30], Deception - Manipulated LaGuerta by giving here a poorly written blood report in order to knock her credibility down and boost Deb’s[31])
- Preparation (Education; Watched Mike Donovan for 5 weeks constantly watching his every move so he could plan the perfect time to kidnap him[32]. Has a room specifically for his "hobby" where he has a computer he uses to track down people, storage for his weapons and notes on potential victims[33])
- Enhanced Senses (Vision, Smell, Touch, Hearing and Awareness; Said he knew someone had broke into his apartment possibly because he could smell the intruders “pheromones”. Or because his chairs “aura” had been slightly disturbed[34]. When the dark passenger “takes over” his eyesight gets sharper, small sounds that would have been unnoticeable before are now loud and distinct, his sense of smell is heightened and even his sense of touch becomes more prominent[35]. Could hear through a “thick, solid metal door” well enough to hear footsteps and voices clearly enough to identify who was talking and what was being said[36]. Saw details such as Deborah pulling out her badge and getting stabbed out of the corner of his eye, from over 50 feet away and while he wasn't paying attention[37]. Sensed a camera watching him and despite not actually finding the it he managed to keep his face hidden from view[38]. Noticed a sedan parked 100 feet away and even noticed a small camera flash inside the sedan coming from inside the car[39]. Said he could “smell Rita’s fear” although this is likely hyperbole[40]. Despite driving extremely quickly, and with the air conditioning on he could smell food coming from pizza places each time they passed one[41])
- Supernatural Willpower (Despite the Dark Passenger and Brian both wanting Dexter to kill Deb with Dexter himself even stating that the "need" was far stronger than any sort of moral obligation for Deb, he was still able to fight against the entity for control and was eventually able to regain it[42]. Despite his extreme fear for Moloch he was seemingly able to temporarily ignore it by becoming violently angry and chasing the man who's been stalking him in their cars. When he decided against killing someone he stated that "the Dark Passenger fought back" but he was able to relatively easily ignore it[43])
- Berserk Mode/Empowerment (Despite his crippling fear of Moloch, when he saw a Moloch follower outside he briefly felt overwhelming fear which quickly turned into a "blind rage". This resulted in him chasing the follower down in his car and eventually running him into the water[44])
- Sleep Manipulation With M99 Syringes
- Acid Manipulation With Hydrochloric Acid
- Explosion Manipulation with bombs[45]
Resistance to:
- Poison Manipulation/Paralysis Inducement (Survived being injected with either M99 or a high amount of potassium, which was previously used to kill Deveaux[2]. The effects of Dr. Danco’s paralytic drugs “seeped out of dexters mind” relatively quick[46])
- Fear Manipulation and Madness Manipulation (Types 1 and 3; Completely immune to the effects of psychotropic drugs, which Dr. Danco used to induce helpless terror[47]. While empowered by the Dark Passenger he's able to directly perceive other Dark Passengers without feeling fear or losing his mind. Even after losing his Passenger he seems to be eventually able to overcome the overwhelming sense of fear he feels)
- Mind Manipulation/Possession[42]
- Limited Power Nullification/BFR for the Dark Passenger (Moloch's followers were capable of causing Dexter's Dark Passenger to leave him out of pure fear. Although if Dexter feels enough pain whether physical or mental he is able to regain his lost Dark Passenger[48])
- Possibly Broadway Force and Empathic Manipulation (Eventually resisted Moloch's mind control[22] induced by specific music. This music had been described as clouding his mind with "supernatural happiness" and previously made him hum the tune unconsciously. Several victims were seemingly completely incapable of breaking through the spell)
- Possibly Dream Manipulation (Claims to never dream throughout the series and this seems to be connected to his dark passenger considering the only time he did dream was when his dark passenger was showing him the future, and Cody who also seemingly possesses a dark passenger claims he also doesn’t dream)
Attack Potency: At least Street level, possibly higher (Overpowered and knocked out Steve even as a kid[19]. Likely stronger than Deb who effortlessly beat a man nearly unconscious with two swings of her baton[2]. Effortlessly cut off a mans hand in one swing and crushed his throat[Statistics Values 1] which would generate this much energy. Wrapped a noose around Donovan’s neck hard enough to make his face turn purple[49]. Grabbed a guard and could swing him around hard enough to kill him via slamming his body against the wall even while injured[23]. Kicked Doncevic in the head hard enough to knock him out in one attack[16]. Swung a tire iron with enough force to begin to bend it[50] and later used that tire iron to "smash the skull" of a cannibal[51][Statistics Values 2], despite being weakened he could overpower Crowley's grip around his throat and accidentally snapped his fingers in the process[52]), Street level to Wall level with weaponry (Throughout the novels he used a variety of blunt, piercing and ranged weaponry, as well as a bomb strong enough to destroy a Yachts Cabin)
Speed: At least Peak Human (Can blitz people and stick them with M99 before they can react[19]. Attacked a man with a gun before he could react[21]. Cut off Jamie’s ear, dropped it on his chest and stuffed a wad of plastic wrap in his mouth all before he could scream[53]. Could react to Brian who could "move faster than Dexter thought possible"[54]. Widely praised for his "lightning quick reflexes"[55]. Ran across a school field, and an extra 150 feet in a short amount of time[24]. Nearly caught up to a boat leaving the dock[56], despite being injured and through extremely damaged hearing he could dodge most of a shotgun blast only being hit in the shoulder[57]), Transonic to Supersonic attack speed with firearms
Lifting Strength: At least Peak Human, likely Class 1 (Can drag and lift bodies. Lifted a large bag of sand despite being visibly exhausted and injured[21]. Quickly broke out of his cuffs albeit off panel and with a tool[21]. Crushed Grigsby's throat with one hand. Considered killing Doakes implying he's physically comparable to him. Doakes has been stated to have the Metro Dade bench press record[58]. Pushed back against a solid steel door hard enough to easily overpower the person on the other side despite being under the effects of a sedative[59])
Striking Strength: At least Street level, possibly higher, higher with weaponry
Durability: At least Street level, possibly higher (Jumped out of a moving car[60]. Survived being shot point blank by a shotgun[61]. Although they were tranquilizers they still had enough force to knock Dexter back a couple feet. Easily takes hits from Debra who is strong enough to dent a metal desk with a kick[62]. Survived falling from 1.5 stories and was mostly fine. Survived a violent car crash[63]. Survived a propane explosion that destroyed a large portion of a house[64] and an extremely powerful explosion that killed Brian and destroyed the Yachts cabin (although he was injured by this)[65])
Stamina: Peak Human (Worked as a slave for likely a few months[21]. Worked for hours with no break[5] and likely ran for close to a day straight with no breaks[66]. Enjoys and regularly exercises with Rita, including running 5K's[67]. Tortured MacGregor for 90 minutes straight[68]. Casually jogs almost 3 miles despite being exhausted[69]. Survived a violent car crash which sent the car into the water, he was able to swim back to the top, go back down to save Deb, and just moments after all of this he was able to sprint at top speed towards a supposed crime scene[63]. Could fight and kill several people despite previously having trouble standing[23]. Easily able to run at his top speed consistently[24]. Survived being caught up in an explosion and shot and managed to move around the boat for minutes afterwards despite Dexter being fairly certain the bullet had hit a vein and was losing blood extremely quickly[65])
Range: Standard Melee Range normally; Extended Melee Range to Hundreds of Meters with weaponry
Standard Equipment: A variety of knives and other bladed weaponry, 50 lb Fishing Line, White Silk Balaclava, Gloves, Rubber Sheets, Plastic Wrap, Garbage Bags

Intelligence: Genius
Knew just by looking in Steves eyes that he was still a "monster"[19], stated to be Miami's best blood spatter analyst this is further shown after he took a brief look at the body and immediately knew he had been in the water and that he had been killed in a separate location[19]. Knows how to pick locks[1]. Knew from a single needle mark that Deveaux was injected with potassium[2]. Extremely skilled detective as in the span of one conversation was able to deduce that Steve was likely keeping hundreds of people as slaves and how he could be doing that[2]. Despite being disoriented and injected with potassium he was able to immediately guess where he was[21]. Wrote a book on forensic science which was stated to be a very thorough book[72]. Remembered the exact directions to Donovan’s dumping grounds despite it being almost impossible to see[73]. Speaks fluent Spanish, understands a little Cuban[28], French[74], and seemingly Latin[75]. any Cuban he doesn't understand or if a conversation is moving too fast for him to hear correctly he's able to predict and deduce whats being said based on context[76], he's also shown to be able to predict what someone might be thinking if he knows the person’s psyche well enough[77]. He implies that his hunches are always right he just occasionally misleads law enforcement so that he can still “have a hobby”[78]. Deb stated that he can usually just look at a body and immediately know who did it[62]. "Humans" are interesting to him and states that he’s read books, implying some knowledge on psychology. He’s also well versed in what different dreams can symbolize despite him not usually dreaming[79]. Later he gets frustrated that he continues to have dreams and describes them as "freshman psychology". Just with a quick look he was able to deduce with their a appearance and mood what someone had eaten for breakfast[80]. He's capable of keeping a mental list of potential victims. Despite not liking football when he was asked about the Miami Dolphins he had a ton of pre-prepared information/remarks on the subject. Implying he does this for most things even if he's not interested on the subject[81]. Good at remaking artworks in his university pottery classes[82], seems to have some interest in art and it's history[83] shown when he referenced Hieronymus Bosch[84]. Seemingly knowledgeable on human anatomy and uses that knowledge in combat, shown when even in the heat of battle he could correctly identify the location he stabbed a guard in was the "solar plexus".[22]. Confident that if he got arrested he could defend himself in court unless they caught him in the act or had some other irrefutable evidence[85]. After looking at a crime scene he could immediately tell that the blood patterns were nearly impossible to create. Basically deducing that the crime scene was in some capacity faked.[86]. Dexter is able to easily see through faked facial expressions that others are completely fooled by, he also calls them "obvious" showing how comparatively good he is at faking emotions despite Brian being fairly experienced[87]. Knew just by hearing Samantha that she had been doped[88].
Weaknesses: If he waits too long without a kill he gets very angry and more prone to impulsive decisions. Hates blood and will try very hard to keep it off himself, in fact in large quantities he can become physically stunned and unable to move for a short[89]. Witnessing ritual sacrifices to Moloch will cause his Dark Passenger to flee leaving him without his clairvoyance, extrasensory perception, fear manipulation, etc. Mentioning Moloch's name or playing his song will cause complete irrational and borderline uncontrollable fear, although he is usually able to resist the effects given time. When his daughter was born he became capable of feeling emotions normally and consistently even shocking Dexter when he found that he genuinely cared for his Daughter and expressed real worry Deborah this extended to his step children Astor and Cody who he also feels worry for[86]
Notable Attacks/Techniques:
- Kill Ritual: This version of Dexter shares a very similar tactic to his Live-Action Counterpart. Dexter will first try to find any evidence of wrongdoing from his victims, once he finds it he will begin to stalk his victim sometimes even for a couple weeks. He does this so he can establish a pattern in their behaviour, and where they go day to day. This makes it easy for him to find a perfect time to kidnap his victims. Once he finally decides to attack he puts on his mask and sneaks up on the victim wrapping a 50 lb fishing line around their neck forcing them to drive to an already prepared location. He then shows them pictures of their victims, occasionally taunting/mutilating them, until he eventually decides to end it.
Notes: Unlike both his game and tv show counterpart he's far more willing to kill innocent people if the moment calls for it. Jeff Lindsay even states that this version of Dexter "doesn't care about justice; he cares about killing"
- Was offended by Deborah's low estimate of Dexters victims being just 15 people[90]
- Killed his first human victim when he was just 19
- Across the novels and comics Dexter has killed at least 80 people
