Summary
The Deathsmiths of Goth were alien weapon designers who were feared for their awesomely powerful inventions. This, however, lead to their own destruction, as their ultimate superweapon — The Apocalypse Device — laid waste to their planet`s population almost overnight. Before the weapon could escape, the inhabitants destroyed their spaceships in an effort to contain it, hoping to strand the weapon in their ruins.
Their dead homeworld was later visited by the Cybermen and Sontarans, who are implied to have mistakenly activated the Apocalypse Device once more. What happened afterward to the Apocalypse Device remains unknown.
The Apocalypse Device itself is considered to be the ultimate superweapon of the Deathsmiths of Goth. Its appearance is that of a wraith-like humanoid that hunted anything in its way like an intelligent predator. It is a synthetic lifeform that carried every conceivable disease or virus in the universe, along with the ability to broadcast telepathic nightmares that paralyzed its victims with fear.
During the Last Great Time War, the Daleks used the Deathsmiths of Goth's weapons against the Time Lords.
