Summary
Death, also known as Rio Vidal, is an abstract being that embodies decay in the universe. She came into existence at the same time as Entropy, Eternity, and Infinity.[1]
During the Salem Trials, she met Agatha Harkness and fell in love with her. When Agatha had a son who was bound to die at birth, it led up to Rio’s arrival, however out of pity, she bent the rules and allowed her son more time to live. Centuries later, she returned to Westview to try to get Agatha out of Wanda’s spell, and also attempted to murder Agatha, only to leave and have the Salem Seven find her afterwards.
She was then summoned into the Witches’ road after the death of Sharon Davis and completed the trials with them. Later, it was revealed that she was Lady Death in the Divination trial. After Agatha finished the final trial of the Witches’ road, she awaited her return in Westview, fighting Agatha over her and Billy Maximoff’s soul. Unexpectedly, Agatha decided to give up her life for Billy by taking the kiss of death. In the end, Rio paid respects to Agatha in her final moments by decomposing her corpse into flowers and spared Billy, allowing him to live in William Kaplan’s body.
