Summary

It is a series of survival horror beat 'em up video games set in an open world created by Keiji Inafune. It was originally developed by Capcom until Blue Castle Games (now known as Capcom Vancouver) took over developing the franchise.

Timeline of the series:
  • Dead Rising (2006, Xbox 360, Wii, Playstation 4, Xbox One, PC) - The game centers on Frank West, a photojournalist who ends up trapped in a shopping mall in the fictional town of Willamette, Colorado, that is infested with zombies.
  • Dead Rising: Road to Fortune (2011) - A four-issue, full-color comic book mini-series published jointly by IDW Publishing and Capcom.
  • Dead Rising 2: Case Zero (2010, Xbox 360) - An exclusive downloadable game for Xbox Live Arcade that takes place two years after the events of the original Dead Rising, and three years before the events of Dead Rising 2.
  • Dead Rising 2 (2010, Playstation 3, Xbox 306, Playstation 4, Xbox One, PC) - Set in the fictional casino town of Fortune City, Nevada, five years after the events of Dead Rising, the game follows former motocross champion Chuck Greene trying to keep his infected daughter alive. It has two DLC, one is a prequel and the other one is a sequel.
  • Dead Rising 2: Case West (2010, Xbox 360) - An Xbox 360-exclusive standalone downloadable game that takes place after the events of Dead Rising 2.
  • Dead Rising 3 Comic Book (2013) - A prequel online Marvel comic book. It details the events that brought Nick, Dick, Annie, and Rhonda together before the start of the game.
  • Dead Rising 3 (2013, Xbox One, PC) - Set ten years after Dead Rising 2, the story follows a young mechanic named Nick Ramos and his attempt to survive a massive zombie outbreak in the fictional city of Los Perdidos, California.
  • Dead Rising 4 (2016, Xbox One, PC, Playstation 4) - Dead Rising 4 returns to Willamette, the setting of the original game, during the Christmas season. The game is a sequel set in 2022, sixteen years after the events of the first game, and one year after the events of Dead Rising 3.
  • Dead Rising 4: Frank Rising (2017, Xbox One, PC, Playstation 4) - A downloadable content expansion that takes place after the events of Dead Rising 4.

Miscellaneous

  • Dead Rising 2: Off the Record (2011, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4) - Dead Rising 2: Off the Record is a re-interpretation of Dead Rising 2, in which Frank West is the lead character instead of Chuck Greene. The story is non-canon to the overall storyline in the series, a "what-if" alternate reality had Frank been in Fortune City to cover the outbreak. Frank even states in the trailer: "What would I have done?"

Power of the Verse

Not so strong, is one of the weakest Capcom's universes. But, it is almost as strong as Resident Evil, almost because Resident Evil has more tech and better monsters.

The average zombie is as strong the George Romero´s Zombie. But they are a lot more contagious (if they bite you, scratch you or even spit on you, you will become infected sooner or later; and some of them can make you infected if you inhale their putrefied bodies), and in night time they become faster and stronger. They can even mutate into Gas Zombies, getting the ability to shoot gas and vomit so hard that it can stunt and even kill someone (no kidding), they can mutate into King Zombies, making them stronger and more durable.
