~ Daun, to Suchan |
Summary
Daun Jeong is a student attending Nest University, in Group B of Practical Combat for Insects. Makes a background appearance during Course Registration with Hyeona, and is saved by Suchan during the first day of class's game of tag, after they're caught by Jun Ji. Later comes with Huijin and Hyeseong to Suchan's aid with Hyeona during the encounter with Pet Shop, paying back their debt, and additionally the two face off against Suchan and Huijin in the first round of the Group Tournament. Makes a handful of appearances throughout the story after that, often in support of the main cast.
Daun used Power Killer on a bolas spider, granting her two sets of horns, the ability to spin lines of silk, as well as being able to use her thread like a flail/mace while hunting. Her midterm challenge is to strengthen her comparatively frail physique, on account of being a spider.
Powers and Stats
Tier: Likely 9-B, far higher with Iron Mace | 9-B, 9-A with Iron Mace
Key: Pre-Midterms | Post-Midterms
Name: Daun Jeong
Origin: Jungle Juice
Gender: Female
Age: 20[1]
Classification: Nest Student, Freshman, Insect Human/Bolas Spider Human
Powers and Abilities: Superhuman Physical Characteristics, limited Thread Manipulation and Adhesive Manipulation (As a spider she can create sticky threads, such as to lower herself down from the ceiling[2], or weave into Hyeona's silk constructs[3], although as a bolas spider she does not create webs, and primarily uses her threads as the rope of her mace[4]), Skilled Mace User, limited Weapon Creation (In absence of her proper mace she can attach her thread to other objects, like a fire extinguisher, to swing instead[5]) | Same as before, plus Statistics Amplification (Via Defense Mechanisms), higher Adhesive Manipulation (With Sticky Sundew, her line of thread terminates in a sticky globule in order to catch and reel in others[6]), and limited Light Manipulation (With Sticky Sundew- the adhesive glows a dim purple[6])
Attack Potency: Likely Wall level (As someone who obtained a USB during Class Registration's mass brawl[7], she should at least be comparable to one of the identical Ant Humans- who all passed Class Registration as they can be seen during Student Orientation[8], and were capable of harming the Longhorn Beetle in a group of five, although she was teamed up with Hyeona and it's unknown if she had to directly fight anyone[9]), far higher with Iron Mace (Swings are this strong) | Wall level (Stronger than before, as she passed her Midterm Challenge[10] which was based on improving her physicals[11], survived being hit with the very end of a weakened Gigantea's tail- although was incapacitated[6], putting her physicals at least above Changhun Yu- who could harm Pre-Midterms Hyeseong[12] and Suchan[13], and was knocked out by Dragon Vision Suchan's Hare Coursing[14], which should still be less damaging than a brush from Gigantea), Small Building level with Iron Mace (Briefly stunned Maehwa while using an improvised weapon[5], capable of beating feed-trained specimen Dohwa bothered using 40% Hardness against[15])
Speed: Superhuman (Reacted to an ambush), Subsonic attack speed with Iron Mace (Can swing this fast) | At least Superhuman (At least as fast as before), Subsonic attack speed with Iron Mace (Reeled in Hyeona and Dohwa with Sticky Sundew in time to save them from a weakened Gigantea's charge[6])
Lifting Strength: Peak Human (Carried Hyeona while running away[16], swinging her Iron Mace would require this much force) | Class 1 (Carried Hyeona under one arm while sprinting[17], swung a wrecking ball), higher with Sticky Sundew (Reeled in and then threw Dohwa, Hyeona, and her mace tens of meters away[6])
Striking Strength: Likely Wall level (Should be at least comparable one of the identical Ant Humans, who collectively harmed the Longhorn Beetle with hits[9]), far higher with Iron Mace (Swings this hard) | Wall level (Should be above Changhun Yu based on her durability), Small Building level with Iron Mace (Swung hard enough with an improvised mace to make Maehwa bother to destroy her weapon[5], easily beat feed-trained specimen alongside Scythe Kick Hyeseong and 40% Hardness Dohwa[15])
Durability: Likely Wall level (As a spider her physicals should be relatively weak[18], although as an Insect Human she should still be much more durable than a regular human[19]), Iron Mace is far higher (Undamaged by its own power[4][18]) | Wall level (Survived being hit with the very end of a weakened Gigantea's tail[6], although with several non-lethal injuries[20]), Iron Mace is Small Building level (Undamaged by its own power[15])
Stamina: Athletic Human (Lacks showings of extended combat, although her stamina should still be considerable given how Practical Combat for Insects is a physically intensive course[21]. Has yoga as her hobby and elective. Managed improve her physicals enough to complete her Midterm Challenge within the week, while being exhausted and aching all over after each class[11])
Range: Standard Melee Range, over Tens of Meters with mace
Standard Equipment: None
- Optional Equipment: Iron Mace
Intelligence: Skilled Combatant (Well-versed with her mace, with Suchan finding her weapon cumbersome and hard to control[22], adept in coordinated teamplay, with her and Hyeona having Suchan and Huijin on the ropes before Huijin equipped her lab gear[4][18], despite the massive difference in combat experience between the two pairs)
Weaknesses: Spiders in general utilize webs and venom as way to protect their weak bodies, meaning they're at an extreme disadvantage in close combat[18]. This especially applies to Daun given the reach and power of her weapon, as well as how her mace is relatively slow compared to typical opponents she can damage with it, with her relying on Hyeona to immobilize her opponents first[18][15]. Defense Mechanisms are physically taxing to use.
Notable Attacks/Techniques:
- The Defense Mechanism of the Bolas Spider: Defense Mechanisms are the way the human body reacts to threats, tapping into one's animal instincts to exert more force when the need arises. Insect Humans can harness far greater power this way, with their Defense Mechanisms allowing extended access to their Complex for more abilities.
- Sticky Sundew: Based on the bolas spider's method of capturing prey, Daun coats her mace with a glue-like substance in order to latch on to her targets and reel them in.
Note: Daun being fused with a "Spiny Orb Weaver" is a mistranslation on LINE's part (as Spiny Orb Weavers create normal webs and are not bolas spiders), which comes from misinterpreting her Complex of a "Six Horned Spiny Spider" translated literally. This is not a Spiny Orb Weaver, despite their distinguished six-spines backing, but instead refers to the Korean name of the bolas spider Ordgarius sexspinosus.
