Summary

Dante is a primary protagonist from the Marvel vs. Capcom series. As the child of a human woman named Eva and the legendary demon known as Sparda, Dante is a half-demon, sporting a fairy unique physiology. However, he and his twin brother Vergil would lose their mother at a young age after she was killed by demons during an attack. Dante would separate from Vergil before starting a new life as a Devil Hunter. In doing so, he started a shop called "Devil May Cry", which took the guise of a private investigation agency while truly acting as a means for customers to request his assistance in odd cases that had supernatural elements tied to them. Over the course of his jobs, Dante would earn new weapons, such as a custom-made pair of handguns and an armoury demonic in nature.

Dante would go on to aid in the fight against Galactus, and join The Resistance against Ultron-Sigma when the latter threatened the merged worlds of Marvel and Capcom.

All Marvel vs. Capcom characters can pull off a Super Jump, which involves leaping high into the air in a single bound), Self-Sustenance (Type 1; Can fight in space undeterred[3][1]), Afterimage Creation (Performs certain attacks fast enough to leave behind afterimages), Energy Projection (Rebellion can fire energy waves. Ebony & Ivory are capable of releasing a charged shot. Artemis fires purple energy shots), Energy Manipulation (Rebellion is imbued with energy when Dante performs Devil Must Die, finishing off the opponent with a powerful surge at the end of the attack), Homing Attack (Artemis' Multi-Lock tracks onto the opponent after being fired), Ice Manipulation (Cerberus creates several shards of ice upon striking), Fire Manipulation (Can unleash fire-based sword swings when using Agni), Air Manipulation (Can unleash wind-based sword swings when using Rudra), Light Manipulation (Beowulf allows Dante to use light-based physical striking attacks[3][1]), Platform Creation (Can create platforms to jump or kick off of, enhancing his options for mobility in battle), Explosion Manipulation, Electricity Manipulation (When performing Devil Must Die, Dante and Rebellion are surrounded with portions of red electricity. Can utilize different electricity based attacks using Nevan), Animal Manipulation (Nevan can conjure bats to attack Dante's opponents), Teleportation, Regeneration (Mid-Low; Healed a deep stab wound from Jedah Dohma[2]), Danmaku, Extrasensory Perception (Like Vergil, his physiology allows him to detect the presence of unique power sources, such as Dark Phoenix's empowerment from within Jean Grey[1]), Transformation (Due to his half-demon status, Dante can tap into his Devil Trigger[3][1][2]), Social Influencing (After falling to Dante's charms, Trish betrayed the demon world.[1] Tricked Ultron-Sigma into believing he was an ally, successfully leading him into a trap when giving him the Soul Gem[2]), Statistics Amplification and Healing (Activating X-Factor temporarily increases its user's strength and speed while healing them at a rapid pace.[4][1] Blocking attacks in this state also prevents chip damage[1]), Attack Reflection (Capable of reflecting energy projectiles and missiles[2]), Resistance to Perception Manipulation (Due to sharing the same physiology as Vergil, Dante would also be capable of viewing Shuma-Gorath's "default" form,[1] a being who takes the appearance of one's worst nightmare should they ever encounter him[5][1]), Cosmic Radiation (Capable of fighting in space unharmed[1]), Mind Manipulation and Corruption (Capable of remaining unaffected when wielding the Soul Gem, which corrupts the mind of its user with its intoxicating allure[2])

Attack Potency: Brown Dwarf level (Mephisto expressed fear when Dante threatened to kill him,[1] the former of which is powerful enough to where Blackheart only feels comfortable opposing with the power of the Infinity Gems.[6] Mephisto himself believes Dante could kill Blackheart.[1] Could aid in the battle against Galactus and was even capable of defeating him.[3] Trish views him as an equal fighter to Vergil, who deemed Akuma's Satsui No Hado to be a "mockery" of true demonic power and could defeat Wolverine.[1] Was considered to be The Resistance's "greatest weapon" against nefarious overworldy threats[2]), higher with Devil Trigger (Deftly defeated Jedah Dohma, the likes of which could one-shot Base Dante[2]), even higher with X-Factor

Speed: FTL (Kept up with Galactus.[3] Blitzed Mephisto[1]), higher with Devil Trigger (Fought against Jedah Dohma[2]), even higher with X-Factor

Striking Strength: Brown Dwarf level, higher with Devil Trigger, even higher with X-Factor

Durability: Brown Dwarf level, higher with Devil Trigger, even higher with X-Factor

Stamina: Superhuman

Range: Standard Melee Range; Extended Melee Range with melee weapons; Hundreds of Meters with ranged weapons; Low Multiversal with the Space Gem and Reality Gem (The Space Gem and Reality Gem had the ability to fuse the Marvel Universe, the Dark Dimension, the Capcom Universe, and the Makai Kingdom together[2])

Standard Equipment:

  • Rebellion: Dante's personal primary melee weapon. It also has a ranged option, being able to fire a wave of energy at opponents.
  • Ebony & Ivory: Dante's personal custom-made firearms and primary ranged weapons. Already powerful on their own, both guns can also fire a charged shot together.
  • Artemis: A demonic firearm that fires out several orbs of energy that once. Artemis' projectiles can either lock on to the opponent after being fired, or get shot into the air too come down on Dante's enemies
  • Cerberus: Demonic tripartite nunchaku that utilize ice-based attacks, capable of spouting large ice shards with a single strike.
  • Kalina Ann: A rocket launcher with a bayonet attached. Aside from being able to fire several rockets at once, it also has a grappling hook, useful for dragging opponents over to Dante.
  • Agni & Rudra: A pair of demonic swords that use the elements of fire and wind respectively.
  • Beowulf: A demonic set of gauntlets and greaves, both of which allow Dante to utilize light-based strikes in combat.
  • Coyote A: A shotgun that fires buckshot.
  • Nevan: A demonic guitar that allows Dante to use an assortment of lightning attacks as well as bats to attack opponents.

Intelligence: Combat Genius (Despite his laidback personality, Dante is a highly skilled combatant, regardless of whether or not his opponent is a demon. Without any formal training, he has managed to eliminate several demonic enemies while running Devil May Cry, taking out his targets with noteworthy style in his combative maneuvers. Dante has also supposedly taken on private investigations, keeping up the guise for his shop.[2] Has displayed excellent proficiency in battle, capable of utilizing a variety of weapons unique from each other masterfully one after another in the heat of battle. Mephisto believed Dante could put an end to Blackheart,[1] who boasts enough skill to solely defeat Ryu, Spider-Man, Zangief, Captain America, and Chun-Li at the same time.[7] Trish believes Dante is an equal fighter to Vergil, a skilled swordsman with the combat prowess to defeat Wolverine before obtaining the Muramasa.[1] Has turned the tables against efforts to deceive him, such as immediately recognizing Mephisto's attempt at fooling him.[1] After being learning of how close Ultron-Sigma was to coming out as victorious from the Soul Gem, Dante tricked both him and the Resistance into believing he was going to aid in the tyrant's goals.[2] This decision would quickly harm Ultron-Sigma, as well as lead to Thor breaking out of his mind-control, and ultimately contribute significantly to the Resistance's victory[2])

Weaknesses: Devil Triggers have limited timespans.[1] Despite having run his own business for years, Dante consistently struggles to pay for his bills, likely due to some degree of laziness.[1] Dante can only wield one Infinity Gem and equip up to three card effects at a time.

Notable Attacks/Techniques:

  • Stinger: Dante lunges forward, stabbing with Rebellion.
  • Million Stab: A followup to Stinger where Dante stabs multiple times in succession, then finishes with a knockdown stab.
  • Prop Shredder: Dante spins Rebellion in a vertical pinwheel fashion to grind up opponents. Can launch opponents.
  • Scat Shot: A followup attack where Dante fires Ebony & Ivory forward. Can followup with Stinger or Prop Shredder.
  • Cold Shower: Dante fires Ebony and Ivory downward to the ground. Can followup with Stinger or Prop Shredder.
  • Weasel Shot: A followup to attack where Dante leaps backward while firing gunshots from Ebony & Ivory. He can also feint with a forward dash first.
  • Clay Pigeon: A followup to where Dante fires gunshots upwards. Can followup with Stinger or Prop Shredder.
  • Rain Storm: Dante spirals in midair while firing Ebony and Ivory directly downward.
  • Bold Move: A command jump forward that can be used to cancel attacks into aerial attacks, creating mixups as it acts as a normal forward jump. Can also be used to cancel any move to chain into another attack considered impossible to cancel into from there.
  • Double Jump: After jumping once, Dante can create a platform under his feet to jump upwards again.
  • Air Dash: After jumping once, Dante can create a platform behind or in front of himself to quickly move forwards or backwards.

  • Ground Throw: Dante kicks off of the opponent before using Ebony & Ivory to shoot them while still airborne.
  • Back Ground Throw: Dante places his foot on his opponent's waist, kicking off into the air. Dante then fires several shots from Ebony & Ivory into his opponent while flipping over them, unleashing a charged shot from both to knock them into the air before landing.
  • Aerial Throw: Dante slashes the opponent with Rebellion a few times before using a final slash that sends them to the ground.

Base

  • Multi-Lock: Dante fires a shot from Artemis that stalks the opponent, applying pressure. Can be charged for more shots.
  • Acid Rain: A followup to Multi-Lock. Dante fires the Artemis upward to send the bullets into the sky and they scatter to rain downward afterward.
  • Crystal: Dante points downward with Cerberus to create a flash of ice crystals in front of him.
  • Million Carats: A followup to Crystal, Dante smashes Cerberus down on the ground to erupt a launching ice prison around himself.
  • Hysteric: Dante fires eight homing missiles from the Kalina Ann.
  • Grapple: A followup to Hysteric where Dante can fire the Kalina Ann's grappling bayonet at his target to pull them in. The target is then speared by the gun as they are pulled in.
  • Drive: Dante slashes a powerful energy wave from the ground. Can be delayed.
  • Twister: Dante Agni & Rudra to create a flaming tornado of fire and wind.
  • Tempest: A followup to Twister, a more stronger version of the aforementioned move where Dante twirls the two swords the other way around.
  • Volcano: Dante punches the ground with Beowulf to erupt a small quake of light.
  • Beehive: A followup to Volcano, Dante rapidly kicks the opponent Beowulf equipped, then smashes his foot down to create a burst of light. Causes ground bounce and is an overhead on the final hit.
  • Jam Session: Dante slides forward on the ground while strumming a solo with Nevan to create a violet electrical storm/lightning pillar.
  • Reverb Shock: Dante rushes at the enemy with a solo strumming Nevan, covering him in electricity.
  • Revolver: Dante flips forward with Cerberus in hand to smash opponents.
  • Jet-Stream: Dante runs forward while executing alternating slashes using Agni & Rudra.
  • Fireworks: Dante flails the Coyote-A around like a pair of nunchaku as he fires away. This move is a followup to Revolver, Reverb Shock, and Jet-Stream.
  • Dance Macabre: Dante unleashes a rapid amount of four slashes with Rebellion. Followup to Revolver, Reverb Shock, and Jet-Stream, but must be done at strict timing in order to execute the move. No cancels are available (not even Hyper Cancels) if the attack connects. Holds the opponent in place and grounds them of any of the slashes connect. However, Dante must first connect with a dash forward to make sure the move starts first.
  • Crazy Dance: Followup to Dance Macabre, Dante sticks Rebellion in the ground, grabs the hilt of his sword and does a spinning pole kick with it, then ends with a wide slash.
  • Killer Bee: Dive kicks diagonally downward with one of the Beowulf's grieves. Causes ground bounce.
  • The Hammer: Acts as a followup to Killer Bee where Dante executes a downward double-fisted haymaker with the Beowulf's gauntlets. Can be executed before the animation for a quick air combo/aerial rave finish that does an untechable knockdown. Hits overhead.
  • Sky Dance: Wildly slashes with Agni & Rudra in midair, then drops to the ground with a falling flipping slash. Causes ground bounce if aimed right, but works even if one was used earlier in the combo. Hits overhead.
  • Air Play: Shoots a ball of lightning and bats from a solo with Nevan in midair. Can charge the attack, and Dante will freeze in midair while doing so. Causes stagger on hit.
  • Air Trick: Dante teleports, then reappears in midair behind the opponent.

Devil Trigger

  • Air Raid: Dante is granted the ability of flight through Nevan. Can also activate when jumping.
  • Vortex: Dashes forward while covered in electricity in midair/mid-flight.
  • Thunder Bolt: Fires an electric beam while in midair/mid-flight downward-diagonally.

  • Million Dollars: Dante unleashes quick fired rounds from his guns, Ebony and Ivory, ending with a dual charged shot.
  • Devil Trigger: Dante taps into his demonic powers to enter into a demon form for a brief period of time, increasing his power significantly. New moves are gained, including the ability to fly. Dante can also gradually heals in this state.
  • Devil Must Die: Unleashes four, quick back-and-forth Stingers. He then prepares for the "Finale Stinger" which drives through the opponent and launches them forward in a devastating red ring of demon magical energy.

  • Power Gem: Dante can use the Power Gem to increase his attack damage for a short period of time. In Infinite, the Infinity Surge version grants the user a powerful attack with increased pushback force.
  • Time Gem: Dante can use the Time Gem to increase his movement speed for a brief time. In Infinite, the Infinity Surge version allows the user to move a set distance forward or backwards in the form of an instant dash that goes through the opponent and their attacks.
  • Reality Gem: Dante can use the Reality Gem to create three different elemental projectiles across the screen; electric spheres, icicles and fire orbs. In Infinite, the Infinity Surge version will make the user launch a slow, homing energy burst with each use.
  • Space Gem: Dante can use the Space Gem to increase his defense for a period of time, which reduces damage taken from his opponent's attacks. In Infinite, the Infinity Surge version allows the user to push the opponent forward or backwards, and the Infinity Storm version seals them in a large, square force cage which restricts their movement for a while.
  • Mind Gem: Dante can use the Mind Gem to constantly refill his Hyper Combo gauge for a short period of time. In Infinite, the Infinity Surge version provides the user a special throw attack which instantly stuns an opponent if hit.
  • Soul Gem: Dante can use the Soul Gem to increase/fill his health for a short period of time. In Infinite, the Infinity Surge version grants the user a far-reaching energy attack which absorbs health off the opponent upon hit.

Note: Devil Triggers can last for up to minutes before deactivating, as seen when Dante tapped into his against Jedah Dohma.[2]

Victories:

  • Superman (Smallville) Superman's Profile (Green Lantern Superman was used and Dante had all of the Infinity Gems. The battle took place in space and the starting distance was 15 meters)
