'''Ebony and Ivory:''' Dante's most popular firearms. Both customized handguns can fire rapidly. However, each gun has its own specialties. Ebony has high-powered single shots that have a strong stagger effect on enemies, and when charged with the devil's power, the bullets will explode on impact. Ivory can fire three-round bursts, and the charged shots will pierce through multiple enemies.

The '''[[Book of Demons]]''' is powerful artifact created by the Matriarch Matilda via sacrifice of her Soul and the shaping of a Demon King's power, granting Dante enormous amounts of power and numerous abilities for him to utilize, most prominently being it's ability to steal and absorb souls into it to grant the wielder the full capacity of the stolen souls inside. Once locked in the Temen-ni-gru, Dante used it throughout his adventures in Peak of Combat.

The Perfect Amulet is a magical artifact given to Eva by her husband Sparda, who after splitting it in half bestowed it upon her two sons for their eighth birthday. This Amulet was later reunited and used by Dante in Devil May Cry 1. It allows travel to and from the Demonic World, despite the fact the worlds have been sealed by the dimensional barrier created by Sparda. It is also used to awaken the Force Edge into it's true form, the Devil Sword Sparda, granting the user tremendous power.

'''[[Intelligence]]:''' Gifted. While seemingly cocky and laidback in his approach to battle, Dante is an amazingly skilled Devil Hunter, having mastered all sorts of Devil Arms on top of being a master swordsman and marksman who can accurately shoot targets from virtually impossible angles and hack his way through the armies of Hell with the barest of effort. He seems to be a quick learner, mastering the Devil Arms he acquires within moments of obtaining them and quickly getting the hang of utilizing his various Styles and Devil Triggers. As a Demon Slayer, he also has extensive knowledge of the Demon World and its residents. He is also a very skilled actor, musician, athlete and dancer.

As a Demon Slayer, he also has extensive knowledge of the Demon World and its residents. He is also a very skilled actor, musician, athlete and dancer. An often overlooked aspect about Dante's abilities is his analytical skills. He showcases these skills in the form of a talent for reading people; he accurately assessed that the seemingly gentle Modeus was interested in killing him for his soul, and that Modeus was going to try to take revenge against him for killing Baul. He's also easily deduced and figured out the Familiars' intentions to atone during Mission 18 of ''Devil May Cry 5''. As described by the alternate universe version of Shadow, Dante has a sharp mind, able to instantly understand the true power extent of Mundus' generals in the alternate universe and that they got enough power to form an independent government to oppose the Demon King. He also displayed a great knowledge about magic, as he easily figured out the magic used by the alternate Trish. He also solved a handful of puzzles throughout his adventures)

'''Weaknesses:''' Consistently haunted by the nightmares of his mother's death, as well as the deaths of Grue and Nell Goldstein | Arrogant, incredibly overconfident and hedonistic to the point where he barely takes his work as a Demon Hunter seriously, dragging out fights simply for the entertainment value, and even letting himself get purposefully impaled by Demons just for his own pleasure | None notable (After unlocking his Devil Trigger Mode and having fought against Vergil a second time, Dante regained back his sense of responsibility to uphold their father's legacy and protect the Human World) | Grew incredibly depressed and mournful after Vergil's defeat in the Demon World, and then again when he killed him in his Nelo Angelo form, and also when he witnessed Trish's death (Although his spirits were somewhat lifted when Trish was resurrected) | Remains somber as before due to Vergil's death. Strawberry sundaes, pizza, terrible gambling luck which constantly leaves him in deep debt | None notable | His arrogance and overconfidence makes a return, and having grown bored over the years without having any strong enough demons to kill, will purposefully drag out a fight simply for entertainment value | None notable.

*'''Drive:''' Slashes the air, releasing a shockwave of Devil Energy.

When older, Dante's Dance Macabre starts in the same way but does not have a Crazy Combo ending. Instead, after the Million Stab, Dante automatically finishes by performing an upward swing and then striking the enemy with his sword, like he is swinging a baseball bat.

*'''Judgement:''' Can only be performed when Dante is using '''Sin Devil Trigger'''. Dante forms a sigil under his feet and slows down time. Dante then performs a barrage of attacks with numerous summoned swords and '''Devil Sword Dante''' then finishes by causing a massive explosion. This attack has a massive range and affects all enemies equally within a large radius of Dante.

*'''Demolition:''' Can only be performed when Dante is using '''Sin Devil Trigger'''. Dante telekinetically grabs an enemy, pinning them in place and uses his power to create an explosion to destroy them from within, bypassing durability to an extent.

This whole business started with my father sealing the entrance between the two worlds. And now, my brother is trying to break that spell and turn everything into demonville. This is my family matter too. Quite frankly, at first, I didn't give a damn. But because of you, I know what's important now. I know what I need to do.
~ Dante to Lady
We are the sons of Sparda, within each of us flows his blood, but more importantly, his soul! And now, my soul, it says it want to stop you!

DMC1 Dante Render
Mundus... his heinous ways make me sick; killing his own like they were nothing. He's the one that took the life of my mother for sure. My mother always used to tell me that my father was a man who fought for the weak. He had courage and a righteous heart. In the name of my father I will kill Mundus!
~ Dante swearing to avenge his family
Goodbye! And when you do come back, give my regards to my son, will ya?

You can grow as big as you want, you can get as ugly as you want, you can even get yourself world-dominating power, but I'll tell you Sid, it's useless!

JACKPOT!
~ Dante's signature quote

Summary

Dante is the protagonist of the majority of the Devil May Cry series. He, along with his twin brother Vergil, are the product of a romance between the Dark Knight Sparda and a human woman named Eva.

After losing his mother to demons as a child, Dante grows up to become a demon-hunting mercenary who runs his own devil-hunting business named Devil May Cry. Dante operates as a mercenary, mostly accepting jobs involving the supernatural. He has a fondness for strawberry sundaes and pizza, and a source of comic relief in the series is his indebtedness and apparent lack of gambling skill.

While he maintains a cocky and lackadaisical exterior, deep down, he is a compassionate man devoted to fighting for the good of humanity and helping his friends and his nephew, Nero.

Demon Physiology (Low Tier and Sparda Heritage), Improved Deconstruction with Ebony and Ivory (Caused Gilver's body and weapons to "evaporate", destroying him "molecule by molecule" until no atom remained[3]), Demonic Energy Manipulation, Unholy Manipulation and Magic (Every one of Dante's demon powers, be they physical or magical, shares the same source of energy, his Demonic Energy.[4] He can channel his powers for various different purposes, through his weapons[5] or through his guns,[6] making any vehicle he's riding[7] to go faster, to create a platform for double jumps,[8] for defensive methods and to transform into his demons forms[9]), Analytical Prediction (Is capable of noticing patterns in his opponent's style and can adapt to [fight accordingly],[10] even against the Black Knights who have techniques that allow them to spot patterns[11] far beyond their opponent's abilities, and were created by Mundus[12] to kill Dante and Vergil using their combat data along with Sparda's, can make mathematical predictions to help him in combat, made a billiard ball hit all the others billiard balls in the air and perfectly hit all demons with only one shot from Ebony and Ivory, or when he made the Spiral's bullets ricochet[13] hit the opponents with maximum damage and when he made Echidna's seeds hit each other to redirect them to perfectly hit Echidna's head[14]), Psychometry, Weapon Mastery and Vehicular Mastery (Can use and master[15][16][17][18] different types of weapons or vehicles, scales to Vergil, Weapon Control (Can control Rebellion and the movement of his other weapons), Instinctive Action (Dante can dodge faster than he can think[19]), Social Influencing (Revolutionized the underworld, convincing the mercenaries to avoid unnecessary killing, even those who love violence and death[20]), Limited Toon Force (Showed to have this ability a few times in his life, like when he played Nevan,[21] or when he performed[22] a shakespearean play and when he danced[23] in the same style of Michael Jackson. However, this is not applicable in combat), Rage Power (Dante is capable of becoming stronger and faster when he enraged, easily killed a demon when he got mad[24] at Jessica's demise, or when he became enraged at Mundus[25] unlocking power on par with him and was also capable of unleashing his magical aura, after witnessing Trish get killed by Mundus, or when he became angry with Chen[26]), Enhanced Empathic Manipulation and Enhanced Fear Manipulation (Dante was able to make demons fall into despair and fear[12] when he stopped using the name Tony and returned to using his original name), Power Nullification via Darkness Manipulation (In his Demon Form, Is capable of engulfing his foes in complete darkness,[27] consuming them in fear and terror and causes them to revert to their natural state)

Same abilities as before, but at a much higher level, plus: Holy Manipulation (With the Holy Water), Resurrection (With the Gold Orb), Elemental Manipulation (Fire Manipulation and Air Manipulation (With Agni and Rudra, is capable of manipulating the elemental powers of fire and wind, Ice Manipulation and Forcefield Creation (With Cerberus, Dante is capable of manipulating the elemental power of ice and is also able to create shields and walls of ice to protect himself[16][28]), Explosion Manipulation and Homing Attack (With Artemis), Artemis which is able to discharges arrows concentrated with demonic energy), Attack Reflection, Damage Reduction, Damage Boost, Forcefield Creation, Healing, Energy Absorption, Transformation, Statistics Amplification and Power Nullification (With Royalguard,[16][17][18] can reduce the damage taken with a normal block, when Dante is hit using the Royalguard, his Royalguard meter increases and he can cause more damage to his enemies, can create a shield to protect himself and heal himself, can create a shell to be invulnerable to attacks and can also nullify attacks)

All previous resistances

All previous abilities, Electricity Manipulation, Bat Manipulation and Sound Manipulation (With Nevan), Time Manipulation (With Quicksilver,[16][18] which allow Dante to slow down time against his enemies and make himself faster, and can affect almost every demon, despite demons being shown to be unaffected by other means of Time Manipulation, like not being affected by the Demon World, which is capable of stopping the flow of time and warping space[29]), Duplication (With Doppelganger), Explosion Manipulation and Homing Attack (With Kalina Ann)

All previous resistances

All previous abilities as before, except for Kalina Ann, plus: Summoning (Can summon a giant serpent dragon[30] as seen during his fight with Mundus), Invulnerability (Via the Untouchable), Improved BFR and Improved Power Nullification via Improved Sealing (Sealed[31] Mundus away sending him to the Demon World and removed his powers. His sealing powers are stated to be above Sparda himself[32]), Minor Precognition (With Alastor, capable of sensing incoming threats before they appear, like Phantom[33] and Nelo Angelo,[34] the latter was in a mirror dimension before he appeared), Hellfire Manipulation (With Ifrit), Damage Boost and Plasma Manipulation (With Nightmare β), Time Stop (With Bangle of Time, it's capable of stopping the time of his enemies, it's also capable of stopping time even from demons that are being shown to be unaffected by other means of Time Manipulation, like not being affected by the Demon World, which is capable of stopping the flow of time and warping space[29]), Resurrection with Devil Sword Sparda (The sword[35] resurrected Trish, when she was killed by Mundus[31])

All previous resistances, plus: Resistance to: Sealing (With the Perfect Amulet, which allows Dante to travel between the Demon World and the Human World, which said dimensions had their connection sealed by Sparda[36][37][25] in the past and since Sparda sealed the dimensions in the past, demons are no longer able to travel[38][39][40] between the Demon World and the Human World), Electricity Manipulation (Withstood electricity from Trish[41]), and Extrasensory Perception (With Devil Sword Sparda, the sword was capable of hiding Dante's presence [42] for a month)

All previous abilities as before, plus: Soul Manipulation (Soul Sealing) and Sealing (Dante is capable of sealing evil spirits on weapons or objects, like when he sealed demons inside Ebony and Ivory's bullets[43] and also when he sealed them on his office[44])

All previous resistances

All previous abilities, plus: Aura (Explosive and Fear-inducing; now in base.[45] When serious, Dante and the Beastheads' magical aura can be used to destroy objects and even cause despair and fear in these objects and made Chen's most loyal employers flee in terror), Improved Accelerated Development and Improved Reactive Evolution (Dante can develop[26] the ability to negate or overcome his opponents's regeneration in the middle of combat, like when Dante tried to incapacitate Chen by injuring his arms, but he still healed moments later in middle of combat and Dante also suffered from having his arms broken by him when they fought, however, Dante was still able to evolve and land a fatal injury on Chen's head despite almost being defeated by him moments earlier. Dante adapted[46] to Beryl's Anti-Tank Rifle magic bullets[47] which can absorb and destroy magic, by just feeling the effects of the bullets around him), Limited Time Stop (With Chrono Heart,[48] It activates with Devil Trigger and stop time when Dante hits his target and is also capable of stopping time and freeze every demon in place, despite demons have being shown to be unaffected by other means of Time Manipulation, like not being affected by the Demon World, and can also affect demons that are unaffected by the Bangle of Time), Intangibility (Via The Smell of Fear[49]), Fire Manipulation (With Flame Heart, it also heals Dante from fire attacks), Statistics Amplification (With Quick Heart and Offence Heart, they amplify his speed and strength ten times and two times respectively[48] while in Devil Trigger), Enhanced Healing (With Healing Heart,[48] Enhances the healing effects of his Devil Trigger), Energy Absorption (With Beryl's Anti-Tank Rifle, which can absorb and destroy magic[46]), Enhanced Non-Physical Interaction, Immortality Negation (Type 5) and Instinctive Action (Was capable of interacting with and eventually killing[50] an alternate timeline Mundus who exists as an empty void, dodging and fighting instinctively), Analytical Prediction and Instinctive Reaction (Predicted attacks[51] of faster enemy who he couldn't keep track of, and used his own instinct to land a fatal blow on his opponent's head), Bodily Weaponry (With Majin Form, he grows two blades out of his forearms)

All previous resistances, plus: Even more Improved Power Nullification (Was unaffected[52] by a gel pool that cancelled his powers according to Chen and himself after resisting the Beastheads assimilation process, he obtained an increase in power and was able to free himself as if the effect did not exist), Precognition and Cosmic Awareness (When serious,[26] Dante was capable of surprising Chen, who was stated and show multiple times to be able to predict the future thanks to Beastheads and also is aware of events that exist even beyond space and time[53]

All previous abilities, plus: Technique Mimicry (Mimicked Vergil's[54] fighting style with Yamato, and Trish stated that she had never seen Dante use a Japanese sword before that), Space-Time Manipulation, Durability Negation, Weapon Creation, Forcefield Creation, Portal Creation, Resurrection, Summoning, Memory Manipulation, Power Nullification and Conceptual Manipulation (Type 2) (With Yamato, the Yamato's blade is sharp enough to cut through dimensions,[55] can create magical swords,[17][18] is capable of creating a shield[56][57][58][59][10] to protect the user, can create portals,[60] was capable of resurrecting Nero[61] and the sword also came to help Vergil when he was a kid,[62] Sanctus used it to nullify Nero's power and his resistance to absorption, allowing the Saviour to absorb him, can separate man from demon and power from heart, can change people's memories and give them a physical form[63] and was used to separate Nero from the Savior when the sword is throw on the chest of the Savior, since Nero's body and soul was absorbed and melted together with the others bodies and souls inside the Savior and becoming one single existence[64][65] with him when he fought against Sanctus and Savior in the Advent Chamber[66]), Minor Transmutation (With Gilgamesh, is capable of absorbing organic materials and turning them into steel[67])

All previous, plus: Enhanced Resistance to Sealing (With Yamato, It can cut through and create portals between the Human and Demon World, said dimensions had their connection sealed by Sparda in the past,[36][37][25] making demons unable to travel[38][39][40] between the Demon World and the Human World), Enhanced Fate Manipulation (Unaffected[68] by the demon dice and statue that manipulate the fate of everyone that enters inside the Game Room,[69] which is capable of binding even Demons, like Nero, who was forced to play the game to reach the Containment Room)

All previous abilities, except for Yamato, Cerberus and Artemis, plus: Vibration Manipulation (Can create powerful shock waves[70] enough to shake the Planet Earth), Analytical Prediction (Casually[10] predict Fury when it is teleporting), Absolute Zero (With King Cerberus, can manipulate ice that reaches absolute zero temperature[71]), Heat Manipulation (With Kalina Ann II, can shoot heat rays[72] on his opponents), Hellfire Manipulation (With Balrog); Demon Blood Manipulation (With Dr. Faust), Enhanced Demonic Energy Manipulation, Enhanced Unholy Manipulation and Enhanced Magic, Durability Negation, Afterimage Creation, Gravity Manipulation, Danmaku and Time Manipulation (In Sin Devil Trigger, is capable of imploding his enemies, killing them from the inside, can create afterimages, can create a orb in the enemy that prevents him from moving, can create many projectiles at once and can also slow down time with a wave of his hand, even thought demons being shown to be unaffected by other means of Time Manipulation, like not being affected by the Demon World, which is capable of stopping the flow of time and warping space[29] and can also affects demons that are unaffected by the Bangle of Time), Enhanced Empathic Manipulation and Fear Manipulation (Can make V sense despair and fear, who is capable of enduring the presence of other Demons, which causes despair, fear and insanity and is fine in the Demon World, which also causes despair, fear and insanity[73]), Weapon Creation and Instinctive Action (With Devil Sword Dante,[18] when Dante uses Sword Formation, he can create magical swords to automatically attack, block, evade, and enhances Dante's attacks and movement on his behalf, or if he chooses, he can control them manually. Sword Formation can be used at any time with any weapon, firearms, and Devil Arms in Dante's arsenal or even without any weapon at all and can alter its shape and quantity accordingly.[18] The sword has its own will and will help Dante when he fights against his enemies[18]), Summoning (Dante can summon Devil Sword Dante any time he wants[10])

All previous resistances

Attack Potency: At least Building level (Physically is far superior to most lesser demons, which can tear humans apart and easily wreck cars with a single strike[74] and they can also easily withstand every modern weapon created in the Human World,[75] vastly superior to demons like Blitz. Vastly superior to Black Knights which were created by Mundus to be one of his strongest servants among fodder minions, made with data gathered after carefully studying how Dante, Vergil and Sparda fight[76]), far higher after taking his name back (Massively superior[12] to his "Tony" persona. Is equal to Gilver when he is without his armor, and, eventually grew strong enough to match him with his armor and while he was being amped by Nexus[77]) | At least City level (Even before unlocking his inner potential, Dante was capable of easily defeating guardians of the Temen-ni-gru like Cerberus and Agni & Rudra, who should be stronger than demons like Nefasturris and Echidna as the chosen ones to protect the tower by Sparda himself) | Star level (After awakening his Devil Trigger, he should be comparable to DMC4 Nero after both had their power awakened by similar sources of power, those being Rebellion and Yamato), up to at least Multi-Solar System level (Grew stronger through his battles at the Temen-ni-gru, fought and defeated Arkham alongside Vergil, and was still superior to him even after he got the Force Edge by the end of the game), higher with Force Edge (Adquired another portion of Sparda's power[78]) | Low Multiverse level (Much stronger than before, fought and defeated Nightmare, who can casually[79] destroy the entire structure of the Underworld.[80] Was only rivaled in power[81] by his brother, Vergil, but Dante eventually grew strong enough to defeat him once and for all[82]), higher with Devil Sword Sparda (Upon unlocking the Sword's power, Dante was capable of reacting and redirecting attacks from full power Mundus, and can also survive attacks from him. The sword's Devil Trigger gave him a good portion of Sparda's powers, which allowed Dante to defeat Mundus at full power) | Low Multiverse level (Fought and matched Sid using Abigail's power while in base), higher with Devil Trigger (A single Devil Trigger Explosion destroyed Abigail's body) | Low Multiverse level (Surpassed Sparda's powers.[83] Casually defeated an alternate version of Mundus,[50] that was more powerful than the original,[84] without any trouble. Matched and eventually[26] surpassed Chen, who had 70% of Sparda's body[85] and the Beastheads into his own. Later during the events of Devil May Cry 2, Dante easily defeated both Bolverk and Argosax, stating on later novels that said events were an "easy job"[86]), higher with Devil Trigger | Low Multiverse level (Should be stronger than before), higher with Devil Trigger. His attacks with Yamato ignore conventional durability | Low Multiverse level (Stronger than before, stated that the power of the Demon Kings are "disappointments" next to him, even completely forgetting about them at a later point.[87] Later, during the events in Redgrave City, Dante absorbed the Devil Sword Sparda and Rebellion into his body, creating his own Devil Sword, allowing him to be capable of defeating Urizen even after he ate the Qliphoth's Fruit. Comparable to Vergil), higher with Sin Devil Trigger, which also bypasses durability to an extent by destroying his enemies from the inside

Speed: Massively Hypersonic+ (Superior to Blitz. Can perceive and counter a lot of Gilver's moves, which can't be perceived by normal humans[88]) | At least Massively Hypersonic+ (Should be faster than before. Is equal to Gilver in first round, in second round eventually grew fast enough to match him while he was being amped by Nexus) | At least Massively Hypersonic+ (Faster than before) with FTL Combat and Reaction speed (Capable of blocking and dodging the Damned Rook Laser), up to at least FTL (Got faster by the end of the game, matching Vergil's endgame speed), higher with Quicksilver and the Force Edge | Immeasurable (Much faster than his younger self, kept up with Nelo Angelo. Was considered as a threat by Mundus,[89] who should at least be as fast as Argosax, and Argosax's speed is instant movement that transcends time and distance), higher with Devil Trigger (It enhances his speed by two times[90]), even higher with Devil Sword Sparda (Kept up with Mundus, flew at these speeds[30] in their battle and managed to redirect his Particle Beam[30][91]) | Immeasurable (Should be faster than before. Easily kept up with Sid, far faster than Modeus and Baul), higher with Devil Trigger | Immeasurable (Easily evaded attacks from an alternate version of Mundus in his own domain, in which he was omnipresent and made of endlessly spreading darkness, reaching into gaps and spaces beyond Mundus' reach. Matched and eventually surpassed Chen's speed, blitzed Argosax in their fight), higher with Devil Trigger (Passively activates the Quick Heart, which makes him ten times faster) | Immeasurable (Easily kept up with The Savior, should be faster than before), higher with Devil Trigger | Immeasurable (Faster than Urizen, can keep up with Vergil), higher with Sin Devil Trigger

Lifting Strength: Class K (Dante when on his earlier days as a mercenary, was capable of casually ripping out spines,[92] which require at least this amount of force. Comparable to Nero, who can lift and swing around demons such as Berial[93] and Bael[94] with little difficulty. Clashed with Gilver multiple times) | At least Class K (Much stronger than before) | At least Class K (Much stronger than before), up to at least Class M (Superior to Mundus Generals, which should be capable to stop Savior's hand), higher with Force Edge | Immeasurable (Much stronger than before, overpowered Nightmare. Weaker than Nelo Angelo in their first round and eventually matched him as his equal. Was considered as a threat by Mundus[89]), higher with Devil Sword Sparda | Immeasurable (Physically comparable to Sid while he had Abigail's powers) | Immeasurable (Stronger than before) | Immeasurable (Much stronger than before) | Immeasurable (Much stronger than before, stronger than Urizen and comparable to Vergil)

Striking Strength: At least Building level, far higher after taking his name back (Scaling to Gilver) | At least City level (Stronger than all of Teme-ni-gru's guardians) | Star level (Comparable to Post Devil Trigger DMC4 Nero), up to at least Multi-Solar System level (Comparable to Vergil by the end of the game), higher with Force Edge | Low Multiverse level (Can harm Nelo Angelo and grow stronger on each fight), higher with Devil Sword Sparda (Can severely damage Mundus) | Low Multiverse level, higher with Devil Trigger (Easily sliced through Sid with one Devil Trigger slash) | Low Multiverse level, higher with Devil Trigger (Casually harmed Argosax and an alternate version of Mundus, capable of harming Chen) | Low Multiverse level, higher with Devil Trigger (Stronger than before) | Low Multiverse level, higher with Sin Devil Trigger (Can hurt Vergil with his punches)

Durability: At least Building level (Physically far superior to most lesser demons, which can easily withstand every modern weapon created in the Human World[75]), far higher after taking his name back (Took multiple attacks from Gilver) | At least City level | Star level (Comparble to Post Devil Trigger DMC4 Nero), up to at least Multi-Solar System level (Can endure hits from Vergil and Arkham), higher with Force Edge | Low Multiverse level (Took attacks from Nelo Angelo and eventually grew more durable on each fight), higher with Devil Sword Sparda (Can endure attacks from Mundus) | Low Multiverse level, higher with Devil Trigger (Survived attacks from Sid and easily regenerated from them) | Low Multiverse level, higher with Devil Trigger (Unharmed by Argosax, endured multiple hits from Chen) | Low Multiverse level, higher with Dreadnaught and Devil Trigger | Low Multiverse level (Can endure attack from Urizen and Vergil). higher with Dreadnaught and Sin Devil Trigger

Stamina: Superhuman (As a Demon, Dante can last hours in battle without pause, can fight entire hordes of demons and fights against Demon Bosses without rest or relevant signs of fatigue, only showing it against prolonged fights against those who were comparable to him and showed to need only mere seconds to recover. Dante showed to need only mere seconds to recover after combat[95] and he can also recover his stamina and energy when he is in Devil Trigger in middle of combat[9]). | Superhuman (Dante and Vergil[96][97] fought against each other for 39 days straight in the Underworld from June 15 to July 24 while having extremely short breaks[96][97])

Range: Extended Melee Range normally, Tens of Meters with projectiles, Kilometers with Sensing (Dante from kilometers away in the city senses Vergil on top of Temen-Ni-Gru which erupts in middle of the city,[98] scales to Vergil, who was able to sense Lady's presence when she entered the Temen-ni-gru[99]), Low Multiversal with Dimensional Travel (Can travel between the Demon World and the Human World[38][39][40] and can also get out of Fault's body, which is another dimension[100]) | Varies from Extended Melee Range to Tens of Meters with projectiles, and Interdimensional with Alastor (Alastor was able to sense Nelo Angelo's presence[34] despite him being in the mirror dimension) | Varies from Extended Melee Range to Tens of Meters with projectiles and at least Interdimensional, Likely Low Multiversal with Sensing (Can sense killing intent from another dimension[101]) | Varies from Extended Melee Range to Tens of Meters with projectiles and energy attacks (His Devil Trigger Explosion destroyed the top of a skyscraper[102]) | Varies from Extended Melee Range to Tens of Meters with projectiles and energy attacks, at least Hundreds of Meters with Space-Time Manipulation (Dante's imperfect technique can cut the Hell's Gate from a far distance[22]) and Low Multiversal with Portal Creation via Yamato (Can create portals in the Demon World while in the Human World,[103][104][105] and vice versa, as seen when Dante used a broken Yamato shard to escape the Demon World and return back into the Human World after the events of Devil May Cry 2[106]) | Varies from Extended Melee Range to Tens of Meters with projectiles and energy attacks and Planetary with Shockwaves (Can create powerful shockwaves sufficient to shake the planet Earth[70])

Standard Equipment:

Rebellion: This weapon used to be dormant until this blade managed to taste its owner's demonic blood increasing its power. This weapon is extremely durable, being able to take hits from the Saviour without even cracking or showing resistance. A Devil Triggered slash from Rebellion managed to cut down Abigail.

Ebony and Ivory: Dante's most popular firearms.

Cerberus: Cerberus was formerly a three-headed ice hound guardian of the entrance to Temen-Ni-Gru until Dante managed to defeat it. Cerberus, impressed with his power, gifted Dante his soul in the form of this Devil Arm. This weapon allows Dante to create ice pillars to attack foes and even encase himself in ice to guard himself against enemy attacks.

Agni And Rudra: Agni and Rudra were former guardians of Temen-Ni-Gru until Dante managed to defeat them both. Impressed, they wanted Dante to wield their weapons due to him being a worthy fighter. Agni is a sword of fire while Rudra is a sword of wind; Dante fights with both simultaneously for the best results. The swords also talk frequently, despite Dante forbidding them to.

Nevan: Dante managed to get this from Nevan, the Lightning Bat Witch. This weapon shows off Dante's radical guitar skills and general knowledge of being able to use scythe-like weapons. Dante can also manipulate bats and lightning with this guitar.

Beowulf: Dante manages to obtain these gauntlets after fighting Vergil for a second time. These gauntlets mostly show of Dante's hand-to-hand skills and powerful attacks.

Shotgun: One of Dante's mainstay weaponry. This can deal with waves of enemies in rapid succession and has been modified by Dante for use in combat against demons.

Artemis: Dante obtains Artemis from beating the three trials in Temen-Ni-Gru. It is capable of shooting energy beams, including a sphere.

Spiral: A high-caliber Rifle that Dante found on his way through the game. It can pierce through multiple targets in one shot.

Kalina Ann: A rocket Launcher that was gifted to Dante by Lady after their last confrontation. This can fire missiles in short-range on top of firing multiple homing missiles in one spray.

Force Edge: It is the sealed form of the sword wielded by Sparda himself, Dante acquired this after his climactic showdown against his brother.

Devil Sword Sparda: While wielding this weapon, Dante is capable of using the power once wielded by Sparda. This was the only weapon capable of being able to harm Mundus, and its Devil Trigger gives Dante the ability to fly through space like terrain with relative ease, It can be shapeshifted into a scythe and can extend its range in general. It also deals more damage than any weapon Dante has access to in DMC1.

Alastor: Alastor is the form of the "Spirit of Lightning," and it only obeys the commands of the chosen one, that being none other than Dante. It amps the user's speed as the name suggests, with glass around Dante falling in slow motion compared to his speed while showing off his skills. It also has some sorts of precognitive capabilities, being able to sense Nelo Angelo and Phantom before they were visible to Dante.

Ifrit: Ifrit contains hellfire which is hotter than a volcano and can only be used by those who can conquer these flames such as Dante. It shows off Dante's skill in hand-to-hand combat, and also allows Dante to shoot fireballs from them. Even able to burn through Frost's armor, which is impervious to volcanic fire. Bangle of Time: Bangle, which allows Dante to stop time.

Grenadegun: Another explosive weaponry that Dante utilizes in combat.

Nightmare β: A demonic weapon made with a similar tech as the actual Nightmare monster. It can channel Dante's devil powers to fire multiple homing shots at once in rapid succession.

Merciless: A thin longsword that Dante uses for massive crowd control. It has a better range compared to Rebellion at the sacrifice of power.

Vendetta: A thick short sword that Dante finds throughout his mission. It has move power than Rebellion at the sacrifice of range.

Submachine Guns: Two rapid-fire guns that Dante can use to deal with small fries.

Missile Launcher: Another explosive weaponry Dante uses to deal massive damage against any of his foes, it fires heat-seeking missiles.

Beryl's Anti-Tank Rifle: A weapon from Devil May Cry Volume 2 given to Dante by Beryl, which uses bullets that absorb and destroy magic.

Yamato: An extremely powerful weapon. It ignores conventional durability due to it being able to cut through dimensional walls and barriers. Dante has also showcased expertise in using it by cutting a Hellgate in half from seven hundred meters away.

Gilgamesh: Dante obtains this weapon from defeating Echidna. This weapon also showcases Dante's hand-to-hand combat skills where he manages to break down a Hell Gate with a one-inch punch.

Lucifer: Dante manages to obtain this from defeating Berial. This allows Dante to fire an infinite number of bladed projectiles similar to his brother Vergil's Summoned Swords. They also resemble Mundus' red energy beams in DMC1.

Pandora: The Pandora is a briefcase which is said to hold 666 forms. Forms it has taken include a bowgun, a bazooka, a laser cannon, a minigun, a mobile missile battery, a boomerang. If he opens the case, some bad things happen and take out anything around it. It also busted one of the hell gates and a family of huge demons to boot. Packs enough firepower to send several giant toads flying and blow them to pieces.

Devil Sword Dante: The newly formed legendary devil sword of Dante, forged through employing the newfound power of his Sin Devil Trigger, which he awakened after impaling himself with his broken demonic sword Rebellion and merging himself with it along with his father's legendary blade, Sparda. The sword can summon spectral swords, and it's the most powerful Devil Arm on Dante's arsenal.

Balrog: Balrog is a set of gauntlets, grieves, and shoulder pads, created with the sealed power of the king of Fire Hell, it has two different modes; the Kick Mode lets Dante perform powerful kicks on enemies, and Blow Mode focuses on boxing-like punching and allows Dante to execute short dodges.

Dr. Faust: A curious hat given to Dante by Nico. It uses demon blood to attack and make demons drop more of their blood. It also showcases Dante's moves in dancing.

Cavaliere: A Devil Arm created by fusing parts of Cavaliere's armor to a motorcycle. It also can be split up into two twin-clubbed buzz saws. These attacks are slow but deal high amounts of damage while covering a wide area.

King Cerberus: A more powerful version of the classic Cerberus, obtained after defeating the King of the Cerberus tribe, retains the ice powers from the other ones, but can also attack with Fire and Electricity, changing its style with two additional modes: a fire bō staff and lightning chain forms.

The Amulet is an unnamed piece of equipment Dante and Lucia uses that utilizes what are called Devil Hearts which adds various abilities and augments to their Devil Trigger throughout the course Devil May Cry 2. These abilities range from the mundane such as flight to the more broken Time Stop.

Movement Devil Hearts-

  • Aerial Heart: A magic stone containing the heart of a demon bird which, when equipped, enables the user to fly.
  • Quick Heart: A magic stone containing the heart of a demon beast which, when equipped, enhances the user's ability to run.

Elemental Devil Hearts-

  • Flame Heart: A magic stone containing the heart of a fierce flame demon which, when equipped, gives the users attacks the flame attribute. It also allows the user to heal from fire-based attacks and be unfazed by lava.
  • Frost Heart: A magic stone containing the heart of a beautiful ice demon which, when equipped, gives the users attacks the ice attribute.
  • Electro Heart: A magic stone containing the heart of a proud lightning demon which, when equipped, gives the users attacks the lightning attribute.

Utility Devil Hearts-

  • Chrono Heart: A magic stone containing the heart of an old god which, when equipped, allows the user to stop time whenever they attack.
  • Healing Heart: A magic stone containing the heart of a merciful goddess which, when equipped, enhances the user's regenerative ability.
  • Offence Heart: A magic stone containing the heart of a battle god which, when equipped, enhances the user's attack power.

The Book of Demons is powerful artifact created by the Matriarch Matilda via sacrifice of her Soul and the shaping of a Demon King's power, granting Dante enormous amounts of power and numerous abilities for him to utilize, most prominently being it's ability to steal and absorb souls into it to grant the wielder the full capacity of the stolen souls inside.

Bangle of Time: "A mysterious wrist band that has the power to stop time."

Untouchable: "A shield will surround the body, protecting you from any attack for a certain period. You will also be in a Devil Trigger state during this period."

Gold Orb/Yellow Orb: "A magic golden stone made through a secret process. It can restore lost souls."

Holy Water: "This holy water can fend off demons. It severely damages nearby enemies."

Smell of Fear: "This will allow you to avoid enemy attack up to three times."

Intelligence: Gifted (While seemingly cocky and laidback in his approach to battle, Dante is an amazingly skilled Devil Hunter, having mastered all sorts of Devil Arms on top of being a master swordsman and marksman who can accurately shoot targets from virtually impossible angles and hack his way through the armies of Hell with the barest of effort. He's also easily deduced and figured out the Familiars' intentions to atone during Mission 18 of Devil May Cry 5.

Weaknesses: Consistently haunted by the nightmares of his mother's death, as well as the deaths of Grue and Nell Goldstein | Arrogant, incredibly overconfident and hedonistic to the point where he barely takes his work as a Demon Hunter seriously, dragging out fights simply for the entertainment value, and even letting himself get purposefully impaled by Demons just for his own pleasure | None notable (After unlocking his Devil Trigger Mode and having fought against Vergil a second time, Dante regained back his sense of responsibility to uphold their father's legacy and protect the Human World) | Grew incredibly depressed and mournful after Vergil's defeat in the Demon World, and then again when he killed him in his Nelo Angelo form, and also when he witnessed Trish's death (Although his spirits were somewhat lifted when Trish was resurrected) | Remains somber as before due to Vergil's death.

Notable Attacks/Techniques:

  • Stinger: Dashes forward, delivering a powerful stab.
  • Drive: Slashes the air, releasing a shockwave of Devil Energy.
  • Dimension Slash: While using Yamato, Dante can conjure blade beams that cover the entire battlefield.
  • Dance Macabre: Dante performs a long combo which can end in a Million Stab or Crazy Combo into a pole dance move, where Dante spins around his sword and ends with a mighty slash. When older, Dante's Dance Macabre starts in the same way but does not have a Crazy Combo ending. Instead, after the Million Stab, Dante automatically finishes by performing an upward swing and then striking the enemy with his sword, like he is swinging a baseball bat.
  • Judgement: Can only be performed when Dante is using Sin Devil Trigger. Dante forms a sigil under his feet and slows down time. Dante then performs a barrage of attacks with numerous summoned swords and Devil Sword Dante then finishes by causing a massive explosion. This attack has a massive range and affects all enemies equally within a large radius of Dante.
  • Demolition: Can only be performed when Dante is using Sin Devil Trigger. Dante telekinetically grabs an enemy, pinning them in place and uses his power to create an explosion to destroy them from within, bypassing durability to an extent.

Dante awakens his Devil Trigger

Devil Trigger is a state at which Dante utilizes the demonic portion of his bloodline to transform into a demonic state. Early on in Dante's life, the appearance of Devil Trigger altered dramatically depending on the Devil Arm Dante is using at the moment and, at times, gives him new abilities altogether, although when Dante got older, the Devil Trigger no longer change its appearance in accordance with the Devil Arm.

Not only can Dante instantly activate Devil Trigger, but he can also charge up demonic energy and release it to damage enemies and transform simultaneously; this is called Devil Trigger Explosion.

All Devil Trigger forms give Dante increased attack, defense, speed, healing, and passive Enhanced Empathic Manipulation, Fear Manipulation and Madness Manipulation (Type 3)

Base Devil Trigger: Dante's natural Devil Trigger he gained after awakening his sleeping demonic powers when he was killed by Vergil during their first battle in Devil May Cry 3, atop the Temen-ni-gru. This Devil Trigger is the most basic of the Devil Trigger forms and can be accessed at anytime Dante wishes without the need for a Devil Arm. It gives Dante a balanced boost to all stats. Devil May Cry 2 Dante seemed to have gained the ability to create rotary cannons in his palms to fire electricity.

  • Ultimate Devil Trigger Form: A stronger and more advanced version of Devil Trigger. It can only be accessed by Dante when he is in a near-death state, the first apparition being against Alice in Devil May Cry 3 Manga
    • Sin Devil Trigger Form: The Strongest Devil Form that Dante has access to. When Dante used the Rebellion sword to stab himself in the ruins of his former family home to stop Vergil, he absorbed its power alongside the Sparda sword. This granted him the Sin Devil Trigger, a powerful form that awakens his true inner demonic heritage. According to Nico, Dante's current state is suggested to be far more powerful than the Legendary Dark Knight Sparda himself.

Cerberus: Activates when Dante uses Devil Trigger while Cerberus is equipped. This form gives Dante a greater boost in speed than his normal Devil Trigger does.

Agni and Rudra: Activates when Dante uses Devil Trigger while Agni and Rudra are equipped. This form enhances Dante's attacks above the normal Devil Trigger and increases his elemental damage with Agni and Rudra.

Nevan: Activates when Dante uses Devil Trigger while Nevan is equipped. This form enhances Dante's regenerative abilities to a greater extent than his normal Devil Trigger. It also gives another method of flying and allows him to shoot lightning from his hands.

Beowulf: Activates when Dante uses Devil Trigger while Beowulf is equipped. This form gives Dante an increase to defense.

Alastor: Activates when Dante uses Devil Trigger while Alastor is equipped. This form increases Dante's overall speed above the standard boost provided by the Devil Trigger, enhances his sword and range attacks with electricity, gives him another method of flying, and allows Dante to shoot lightning from his hands.

Ifrit: Activates when Dante uses Devil Trigger while Ifrit is equipped. This form increases Dante's damage output above the regular boost provided by the Devil Trigger, enhances his strikes and ranged attacks with hellfire, gives him the ability to shoot large balls of fire, and create large pillars of flame to deal massive area-of-effect damage.

Devil Sword Sparda: Activates when Dante uses Devil Trigger while the Devil Sword Sparda is equipped, however, unlike Dante temporarily changing into another form during its use, Dante gains a red aura, and his form only changes during attacks or when Dante flies. As stated before, this form gives Dante another method of flying, but that's not all, Dante gains a dramatic increase in attack, range, defense, speed, and regeneration. He also can shoot fireballs and runes from his hands and summon a large dragon made of magma.

Quicksilver
Dante acquires the Quicksilver style after defeating Geryon in the Temen-ni-gru's Coliseum. It gives Dante the power to slow down time, greatly improving Dante's speed, and can be used at any time with a simple thought. While active, everything except Dante moves at a fraction of its normal speed, giving Dante time to control the situation or simply slow his enemies down, being a very effective tool against faster opponents.

Doppelganger

The Doppelganger Style is a shadow-controlling style that Dante obtained after defeating Doppelganger the Deathvoid. It allows Dante to create copies of himself to assist in battle.

The Doppelganger wields perfect copies of the weapons Dante has upon activation of the ability and is perpetually in a Devil Trigger state. However, Doppelganger can copy Dante's human appearance according to its introductory cutscene after Dante defeats it.

The doppelganger can also perfectly mimic Dante's attacks and abilities with the same level of skill, effectively creating a perfect copy of himself minus being made entirely out of a shadow. Dante can also use Devil Trigger while Doppelganger is in use.

One of Dante's basic tools in battle is the Royalguard Style, which focuses on blocking attacks while restoring or redirecting their energy. Despite being basic, it is one of Dante's strongest moves and can keep him safe against enemies far stronger than himself. Continually blocking charges Dante's Royal Gauge with energy, which is discharged with his first subsequent attack for additional damage. Alternatively, he can use this energy in a variety of other ways, like Healing himself, with Ultimate, and greatly enhancing his durability, with the Dreadnaught technique.

  • Block: Dante simply blocks against an attack. In Devil May Cry 3 and 4, Block doesn't cancel out all of the damage but instead gained DT and Royal Gauge energy in return, unlike Devil May Cry 5, where Block prevents all damage but at the cost of only DT.
    • Royal Block: Dante perfectly blocks incoming attacks right before they land, completely negating all damage. Dante also gains a great amount of DT with each Royal Block and far more Royal Gauge energy than the standard Block.
  • Release: Dante sends out a punch and releases all the energy stored in the Royal Gauge back at the enemy, dealing a good amount of damage.
    • Royal Release: Dante uses Release right before incoming attacks land, negating all of the damage and releasing all of the stored Royal Gauge energy back at the enemy, dealing a tremendous amount of damage far superior to the standard Release.
  • Royal Revenge: Dante nullifies an attack and uses some of the Royal Gauge energy to send a blast of energy to the attacker dealing a moderate amount of damage.
  • Dreadnaught: A technique which covers Dante's entire body in a metallic shell using the accumulated energy he stored. This shell makes Dante impervious to all attacks for a limited time until his Royal Gauge energy depletes.
  • Ultimate: Dante blocks incoming attacks and converts the energy into life power which heals him. Dante cannot Royal Block attacks with this, and strong enough attacks can bypass Ultimate.

Sword Formation is the name of Dante's method of manipulating his summoned swords. Dante gained the ability to summon glowing red spectral swords after fusing the Rebellion with the Devil Sword Sparda, which created the Devil Sword Dante. The summoned swords automatically attack, block, evade, and enhances Dante's attacks and movement on his behalf, or if he chooses, he can control them manually. Sword Formation can be used at any time with any weapon, firearm, and Devil Arm in Dante's arsenal or even without any weapon at all and can alter its shape and quantity accordingly.

  • Escort: Dante's summoned swords take up a formation resembling a shield that automatically blocks attacks significantly reducing their damage while giving filling Dante's Royal Gauge. When Dante uses Block or Royal Block with Escort, the amount of Royal Gauge energy he gains will significantly increase.
  • Chaser: The summoned swords automatically attack for Dante and follow his attacks. These energy swords help in a variety of ways, such as preventing Dante's target from moving, allows Dante to use melee attacks from range, can attack an enemy. At the same time, Dante charges an attack or ability, increases the number of attacks performed with each strike, or simply overwhelm his opponent.
  • Reactor: Four summoned swords take a position close to Dante's legs, increasing the number of times Dante can jump, dash and perform other evasive techniques.
  • Interceptor: Four summoned swords hover near Dante's shoulders, ready to launch at an enemy. The summoned swords automatically detect threats and fire at any projectile, attack, or enemy that comes within a few meters of Dante, either knocking them back or destroying them.

Note: This page only covers the original canon version of Dante, whose feats come from the games, novel, manga and anime. The reboot version and Shin Megami Tensei version have separate pages.

Note 2: Dante's fight with the Alternate Mundus was deemed to represent, at the very least, an Infinite speed feat in this thread
