Summary
Daimon Hellstrom, often known as Son of Satan or Hellstorm among the many names he's used, is the son of one of the Lords of Hell, Satan. Tormented by his heritage, Daimon swore to defend Earth against his father and other forces of Hell, becoming one of the world's most renowned occultists and exorcists.
Hellstorm has been part of many battles, often saving the world with Doctor Strange's Defenders, aiding various heroes against supernatural forces, marrying and divorcing Hellcat, sometimes playing the part of a villain and even once killing his father and temporarily taking his throne as a Lord of Hell.

Superhuman Physical Characteristics, Immortality (Types 1, 3 & 4), Resurrection (Returned from his death at the hands of Daniel Drumm.[1] Can resurrect others as well even after being deprived of his position as a Hell Lord[2]), Regeneration (Low-Mid, likely Mid - Ripped out his own heart to let Ammit judge it[3] and it quickly went back into place.[4] Regenerated from double impalement off-screen.[5] Implied he could normally recover from a shot to the head[6]), Enhanced Senses (Could smell the trace of dark magic in a man's tattoo and the fear of the prisoners of a drug cartel[7]), Genius Intelligence, Demon Physiology and a User of High-Tier Sorcery (Candidate for Sorcerer Supreme, and should be superior to his sister), Hellfire, & Demonic Magic, Weapon Mastery & Martial Arts (Often faces entire hordes of demons.[8] Once an enemy named Mindstar lost his speed advantage against Son of Satan, the latter could avoid all of his attacks.[9] Even when depowered, Daimon has shown significant skill in combat[10]), Acrobatics (Backflipped over an attack from Blackheart[11]), Temperature Manipulation, Fire Manipulation & Soul Manipulation (Can fire rays of hell's very own heat, known as Soulfire or sometimes hellfire.[8] Can shoot this soulfire out of his hands, trident or out of the earth itself[8] and surround himself in its flames.[8] It has been said to be more devastating than any physical flame and can be used to bind demons possessing humans to the bodies they're in.[12] Daimon can use his fire as a barrier and choose what will be affected by it,[13] to the point of sparing his love interest while killing all her identical, soulless clones.[14] He can also use it to search for people,[15] exorcise demons without harming the humans they are possessing[16] or hurt only the target's soul.[9] It was stated to be hotter than Hell's lakes,[17] which Daimon himself stated were far hotter than the Human Torch's attacks[16]), Chi Manipulation, Magic & Willpower Manipulation (Daimon's soulfire was said to be all three of these.[9] Soulfire potency is related to the user's willpower[18]), Energy Manipulation (The trident is a conduit used for focusing Hellstrom's powers.[9] Hellstrom can also release the Darksoul's power to defeat beings far stronger than him, although he risks losing his humanity when doing this[19]), Elemental Manipulation (Hellstrom's trident is said to control elements[8]), Attack Reflection (The Netheranium Daimon's trident is made of can reflect energy attacks,[20] and he has used this ability in combat[21]), Flight (Can propel energy out of his trident to fly.[22] While he could originally only cross short distances with this technique, Hellstorm has been seen using this method of self-transportation across longer distances. He has also sprouted wings in demonic form[23] and can hover without the use of either of these powers[24]), Body Puppetry (Forced a woman to grip his trident when she touched it[22]), Dimensional Travel, Teleportation & Weapon Control (Can teleport to his trident's location, even crossing through dimensions,[22] or force it to come back to his hands.[25] It's stated he can only do this if an intelligent being holds the trident, as this causes the psychoreactive material it's made out of to activate, but he has been able to ignore this restriction[19] by using it when it was close enough to him[26]), Forcefield Creation (Daimon's trident protected him from a hard fall.[13] Helped Sersi and Silver Surfer make a forcefield[27]), Summoning & Weapon Creation (While Daimon's trident used to be just a weapon to him, it has become a part of him, and he can summon it at will,[28] which also means he can also not be injured by it.[29] Can summon a flying chariot drawn by three demonic horses, Hecate, Set and Amon,[8] or a single demon horse named Iblis[7]), Power Nullification (Daimon's trident nullifies his father's powers.[8] This does not affect Daimon himself, or most other demon's powers, but has affected other Hell Lords such as Satannish[30]), Clairvoyance (Hellstrom's trident can be used as a means of entering a trance and making spiritual contact with other mediums.[25] Can throw bones bound to demons to find the location of whatever he's searching on a planetary scale[31]), Homing Attack (Can use the trident's psychic field to automatically seek out the target[26]), Earth Manipulation & Magma Manipulation (Can command, destroy and melt the ground by blasting it, and can even control the Earth's core to cause earthquakes[8]), Weather Manipulation & Electricity Manipulation (Can summon storms almost instantly.[8] Can also summon lightning directly[7]), Aura (Fear-inducing - Some people will feel the presence of evil when near Son of Satan,[8] to the point that they may begin adoring him out of sheer fear if he actively tries to use that aura against them[32]), Multiple Selves (Hellstrom has two souls,[33] his human one and the Darksoul, the one of his demonic half. Currently, Daimon seems to have only one personality, albeit a sometimes much harsher and aggressive one than before. It's unknown whether that is because of his Darksoul's influence or simply different writers portraying him in different ways), Transformation & Supernatural Willpower (Can increase his power by partially releasing the Darksoul[34] which will also give him additional willpower.[26] When tapping into it enough, he will transform into a more demonic form.[35] Can also change clothes at will), Sealing (Daimon used to use a chain with an Ankh on it to seal his other personality in a locked room.[36] Created a seal that lasted for two years against his father .[20] Daimon's seals can destroy lesser demons.[22] Can also exorcise demons using his soulfire,[37] and use it to rapidly create seals.[12] Daimon can even exorcise outside influences from himself from within his hallucinations.[13] Can reinforce other seals and make them last virtually forever.[32] Trapped Dormammu in a circle of fire.[38] Can create cages of fire to seal demons[2]), Precognition (Sensed the location of someone he was looking for before meeting them.[22] Can sense the presence of supernatural energies,[39] even before they appear.[37] Knew Dr. Strange would come ask for his help before receiving his message[40]), Extrasensory Perception (Can sense the presence of supernatural energies,[39] even before they appear. Can search for residual traces of psychic energy and use his trident to determine their location,[37] and do the same for extreme emotions.[30] Realized that a girl was not possessed but had latent psychic powers in the span of 33 heartbeats just by touching her soul.[41] The trident will automatically sense evil presences and illusions nearby.[42] Sensed several people that returned from hell from across an entire city through his soulfire.[43] Can hear prayers directed to him, or if his name is spoken three times[7]), Empowerment, Rage Power & Berserk Mode (His sheer hatred and rage against his father increased his strength tenfold.[21] Stated to have the strength of a thousand demons when greatly angered to the point of temporarily losing his reason. Increased the power of his flames to a level that could incinerate a being previously unaffected by them.[14] This empowerment is not tied to the Darkstar.[9] Can aso use other strong emotions to become stronger, such as his love for Hellcat[44]), Illusion Nullification (Can negate illusions[30]), Sound Manipulation (Can replicate the effects of a tool designed to search for passages through sound[45]), Statistics Amplification (Daimon can increase his physical stats with his powers [see Note 2]), Non-Physical Interaction (Could hurt an astral projection[26]), Healing (Helped Hellcat's mother recover from her coma and Johnny Blaze from injuries he'd received in their fight.[46] Cured Vera Cantor of a poison Henry Mc Coy and Reed Richards could not heal[47]), Soul Manipulation (Gathered Howard the Duck's fragmented soul and put it back in his body[18]), Life Manipulation (Split a human Blade from his vampiric clone that had been fused with him[48]), Psychometry (Could see and show the past of a dead woman[49]), Time Travel (Can travel through time with his soulfire.[39] Shifted himself and those near him 8 hours forward in time to defeat enemies vulnerable to sunlight[49]), Telepathy (Communicated telepathically with Dr. Strange.[49] Can read minds[29]), Teleportation (Can teleport himself and others[50]), Pain Manipulation (Caused Dr. Strange to feel a jolt of intense pain.[51] More impressively, he can cause people to feel all the pain they've caused in their lives at once[7]), Dimensional Travel (Can create gateways to hell and use them to teleport[51]), Surface Scaling (When transformed into a more demonic form, he can ascend vertical walls[23]), Mind Manipulation (Forced a man to talk against his will.[52] Can control demons or angels by knowing their true name), Technology Manipulation & Electricity Manipulation (Has a degree of control over electrical devices and can make them explode at will[53] or cast electricity out of them[54]), Telekinesis (Blocked bullets shot at him in mid-air[55]), Disease Manipulation (Threatened to make Angelica Jones' cancer worse, and could cure it as well[56]), Vector Manipulation (Curved light-based attacks from Monica Rambeau away from him[57]), Regeneration Nullification (At least High-Low, likely Low-Mid or Mid - Mortals and their weapons are virtually useless in killing demons, which is something Daimon has no problem doing.[58] This is shown to be because they would regenerate from normal wounds.[59] Daimon has killed demons as strong or stronger than himself, who should share his regenerative abilities). Immortality Negation (By knowing a demon's true name, he can kill them even when he normally wouldn't be able to, as he did with his father[60]), Cosmic Awareness (Perceives the reality of every dimension at once, seeing the "known and the unknown", to the point that he can know when the physical plane of his world has been pierced[61]), Size Manipulation (Shrunk a giant monster to only a few centimeters of height[62]), Sleep Manipulation & Dream Manipulation (Owns a type of herb that when burned immediately puts those breathing it in a trance-like dream where they can come to face with their subconscious.[63] Kept a changeling alien asleep forcefully[64]), Duplication (Created multiple independent copies of himself. Even if some die the others are unharmed. However, some of these copies may be flawed and weaker than the original[65]), Portal Creation (Helped keep a portal open alongside Wiccan[66])
Resistance to Fire Manipulation & Soul Manipulation (Unaffected by his own soulfire,[8] as well as his sister's[67] and the Human Torch's flames[16]), High-Tier Sorcery, Hellfire, & Demonic Magic, Sense Manipulation (His Darksoul allowed him to withstand an attack to his senses that completely incapacitated normal humans[26]), Pain Manipulation (Can withstand pain he normally couldn't with the Darksoul[26]), Elemental Manipulation (Daimon's Darksoul is alien to elements, and as such repels normal elements, although this is far from a complete protection[33]), Absorption (Attempting to absorb Daimon Darksoul might lead to more of its power being unleashed instead[9]), Paralysis Inducement (By activating his powers, he could resist an attack that previously made him unable to move[68]), Madness Manipulation (Has witnessed his father's true form many times, which drove Hellcat to insanity with just a glimpse[35]), Disease Manipulation (Cannot develop cancer.[52] Has been given a vaccine against the zombie virus[69])
All previous abilities to a much greater extent in addition to Hell-Lord Magic/Physiology, Death Manipulation (Killed Druid with a thought[70]), Portal Nullification (Negated Night Man's accidental portal to his room[71]), Resurrection & Immortality (Types 4 & 8 - Hell Lords are able to resurrect in a short period of time,[72] as shown with many of them[73]), Resistance to all the powers of the other Hell-Lords, all of Satan's powers as he inherited them.
Wall level+ (When depowered, Daimon could fight Mad-Dog, who himself fought Moondragon and Hellcat.[74] Fought Hellcat herself without breaking a sweat even when she attacked him[57]). Planet level, Low Complex Multiverse level at peak with powers (Sersi believed his powers to be comparable to hers and Silver Surfer's.[27] Defeated an enemy who had been beating up Hulk for hours, giving him ample opportunity to get angry.[30] Physically contended with an enemy comparable to Hulk and eventually subdued him with help from him and Namor.[75] Hurt Mephisto while he was posing as Maia, in the same issue where he defeated Silver Surfer and Hulk in one attack.[76] Hurt an enemy who survived attacks from Namor, The Hulk, Dr. Strange and Valkyrie.[17] Fought Valkyrie evenly and received similar damage from an explosion.[77] One-shot a clone of Hyperion[24][Notes 1])
Varies; at least Low Complex Multiverse level ([Notes 2]), up to Outerverse level (Much stronger than before, absorbed his father's powers when inheriting the Black Halo. Should be comparable to other Hell Lords outside of Hell like he is in it), Outerverse level in Hell (Hell Lords share a level of existence[78] with their realms,[79] with netherworlds being pan-dimensional realities[80] infinitely transcendent of the universe.[81] Held back all of his Hell-Realm with help from Doctor Strange.[82] Stated he could keep Mephisto, Satannish and Pluto as well as other Hell Lords "in check", and didn't wage war on the former because he was afraid that the collateral damage would have ripped apart the Nether-Realms, not of his own defeat[73])
Speed: Infinite (Comparable to Hulk and Doctor Strange. Snatched his trident back from Satan by surprise and could block attacks from him [34]), Speed of Light flight speed with his chariot (Said to travel this fast[20]) | Varies up to Infinite, Infinite speed in Hell (Much superior to before, comparable to Mephisto)
Lifting Strength: Unknown. Immeasurable when empowered (Helped overpower an enemy comparable to Hulk[75][Notes 3]) | Immeasurable (Comparable to other Hell lords[Notes 4]), Immeasurable in Hell (Hell-Lord are Higher Dimensional beings within their realms and Hell Lords share[83] a level of existence[84] with their realms,[85] with netherworlds being pan-dimensional realities[86] infinitely transcendent[87] of the universe)
Striking Strength: Wall level+. Planet level, Low Complex Multiverse level at peak when empowered | Varies; at least Low Complex Multiverse level, up to Outerverse level, Outerverse level in Hell
Durability: Wall level+. Planet level, Low Complex Multiverse level at peak when empowered, against fire and with forcefields ([Notes 5]) | Varies; at least Low Complex Multiverse level ([Notes 6]), up to Outerverse level, Outerverse level in Hell
Stamina: At least Peak Human (Routinely fights enemies for long amounts of time. Withstood his father's months-long torture without his will breaking.[34] Satana considered an experience that made Daredevil scream in agony to be nothing compared to the fires of hell[88]), likely Infinite in Hell (Stated that, in his own realm, he could literally fight forever, before confirming that he'd be just fine after years of fighting[57])
Range: Extended Melee Range with trident, Tens of Kilometers with Soulfire (Could project his soulfire all over New York[15]), Outerversal with various abilities | Outerversal in Hell
Standard Equipment: His trident
Intelligence: Extraordinary Genius. A renowned exorcist/demonologist who is knowledgeable in many myths and dead languages[39] and has spent many nights studying occult arts to study ways to combat supernatural threats and challenge his father,[22] Daimon's knowledge in satanic matters is such that even Doctor Strange respects it,[30] and he was regarded by Yandroth to be a master of the occult on a level even superior to Strange.[24] The Eye of Agamotto considered him a possible candidate for the role of Sorcerer Supreme.[89] Son of Satan is also very knowledgeable in non-satanic but still mystical matters.[90] Managed to track down his sister Satana despite her attempts to avoid this.[91] He is also a skilled and creative combatant, being able to fight many foes, human or demonic, at once and use his abilities in the best way to surpass a challenge, such as surrounding a group of enemies he does not wish to harm with a fire barrier that will only burn them if crossed. Understood the plan of a group of splinters of Eternity before anyone else in the Defenders.[40] Decided to torture an angel instead of killing it to scare satanists into making them loyal to him in hopes they'd hurt less people.[32] Cleverly carried out a plan to manipulate Hawkeye and the Thunderbolts into resurrecting his wife and prevent a war in hell.[73]
Weaknesses: Weakened by intense cold.[22] Daimon is unwilling to kill,[39] although he will if necessary,[14] and has trouble controlling his emotions, sometimes falling in a berserked rage.[14] Do note however that in more recent comics he has been portrayed as much more aggressive and sometimes willing to kill humans without hesitation, but less susceptible to the Darksoul's influence. Struggles to read the minds of satanists[53] | Weaker when outside of Hell.
Notes:
- Before making any changes to this page, please read the Power-scaling Rules for Marvel and DC Comics.
- Hellstrom is extremely inconsistent, having been hurt by or unable to physically defeat characters he should be far stronger than based on other feats, such as Crossbones, Blade, Hellcat or Jessica Jones. As such this wiki favors the Handbook explanation of him being able to increase his physical statistics through magic, for consistency purposes.
- While Daimon's trident used to be a weapon that he stole from Satan, Daimon has since absorbed it as part of him and can summon it at will, and as such being separated from it is no longer a weakness for him.
- While after Defenders 121 Daimon temporarily lost his Darksoul, the source of his powers, and was weakened by it, he obtained it a few appearances afterwards in Hellstorm: Prince of Lies.[92] Due to his few and inconsistent combat showings in this state, it has not received a key.
- Daimon used to need to transform into his Son of Satan self to use his powers, however this has been shown to be his default and only state in newer comics.
- Daimon held Satan's place and power for a while, but eventually relinquished this position, keeping only a small portion of hell.
