Chomper almost got a gig doing stunts for The Little Shop of Horrors but it fell through when his agent demanded too much on the front end. Chomper's not resentful, though. He says it's just part of the business.

Everyone appreciates what Chomper does. His appetite has saved them on numerous occasions. But truth be told, Chomper's friends think that eating zombies is gross. And his breath! No one has the heart to tell him, and he never gets the hint when you offer him a mint.

"A free buffet? How kind! Don't mind if I do!"

Be Stealthy! The Chomper can swallow a whole Zombie from behind, or from below using his Burrow ability.

The Chomper primarily uses hit and run tactics to get in close and feast on Zombies. He prefers tunneling underground and emerging beneath Zombies for surprise attacks. He loves the taste of Zombie feet - with just a dash of salt.

Close range attacker that can snare and slow opponents and can Burrow underground to instantly vanquish opponents. Don't let them see you coming!

Summary

Chomper is a major recurring character within the Plants vs. Zombies franchise. Chomper is a Venus flytrap-like plant that is able to eat zombies, which in most cases is able to instantly defeat them.

Chomper is also frequently given a dog-like behavior and slobbish nature, with Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville even referring to Chomper as "the plant equivalent of a family dog".

As of Plants vs. Zombies 3, Chomper has appeared in seven games, with a scrapped planned appearance in a Chinese spin-off.

Notable Attacks/Techniques:

  • Plant Food: Consumes several nearby zombies in the column [sic], then releases a burp that knocks back any survivors.
  • Goop: Hitting targets with the Chomper's ranged Goop attack is a great way to slow them down, making them easier to chomp. They taste better too!
    • Super Sticky Goop: This goop is sooo sticky that Zombies are not even able to move when they get hit by it. Let's say it together... "Now that's Sticky!"
    • Cheesy Goop: The Cheesy Goop in the first in Crazy Dave's new line of gourmet marinades. It's scientifically formulated to slow Zombies down and make them taste great!
    • Chomp Cannon: If you're sick of being harassed by Zombies on rooftops, the Chomp Cannon is for you. Hock a loogie in their direction with this disgustingly explosive attack!
  • Burrow: The Chomper's ultimate weapon. He has the ability to tunnel underground and ambush unsuspecting Zombies by emerging under their feet and swallowing them whole!
    • Sprint Burrow: The Sprint Burrow allows the Chomper to move much faster when under the ground, but the range is quite limited.
  • Spikeweed: Laying Spikeweed traps is a great way to ambush Zombies. If they walk over the Spikeweed, they get ensnared and are easy to chomp.
    • Spiky Spikeweed: The Spiky Spikeweed deals more damage to Zombies it ensnares, but only a few can be deployed at a time.
    • Chesterweed: The Chesterweed attacks at an extremely fast speed, dealing up to 70 damage in 5 seconds. Chompers eating zombies trapped by the Chesterweed will swallow significantly faster, but the Chomper can only have two of them at a time, instead of three. It takes 60 seconds to recharge one Chesterweed.
    • Vampweed: When a zombie stumbles into a Vampweed, you get a helpful health boost! The zombie isn't hurt, but he probably feels a bit silly falling into your trap.
  • Grody Goop: Immobilize and disarm enemies by catching them in a toxic cloud.

  • Combo: Faster refresh time for all abilities by earning multiple vanquishes rapidly.
  • Face Bite: Chomp can do critical damage.
  • Refreshing Revive: Faster refresh time for all abilities by reviving an ally.
  • Rough Patch: Spawn with more health after suffering multiple vanquishes in a row.
  • Low Life: Gain health by earning a vanquish when at low health.
  • Upset Stomach: Longer duration of Grody Goop.
  • Vampire Spikeweed: Gain health by dealing damage with a Spikeweed.
  • Fearless: Regenerate health when near multiple enemies.
  • Critical Blow: Faster refresh time for all abilities by earning a critical vanquish.
  • Well Fed: When using Burrow reduces Dig Power consumption when moving slow.
  • Halitosis: Deal additional splash damage at location that Slobber Shot hits.
  • Speedy: Move faster, except when sprinting.
  • Vampiric: Gain health by earning a vanquish.
