Summary
El Chapulín Colorado (English: The Red Grasshopper) is a Superhero and the main protagonist of the Mexican television series of the same name[Note 1 1]. Chapulin was created by Roberto Gómez Bolaños (Chespirito), a Mexican Writer and TV producer. The show is incredibly enduring as it still is constantly re-run and has won back some of his popularity in several countries such as Colombia, where it has aired in competition with The Simpsons (which has a character based on him named Bumblebee Man).
Although his origins were mostly unknown, According to Chapulín: His full name is "Chapulín Colorado-Lane" and is the son of "Pantaleón Colorado" and mother "Roto-Luisa Lane" even having a cousin named "Mariposa (Butterfly)". His father was an entomologist by profession, hence his fondness for insects; He was also the second cousin of Juan Colorado and the great-nephew of "Chucho el Roto". His name was chosen by lottery, since his father had placed the name of four insects on some pieces of paper and luck decided that the name "Chapulín" be chosen (The name Chapulín derives from the Nahuatl expression "Chapōlin" which is the name by which grasshoppers are known in Mexico and the United States.), the other possible names were Gorgojo, Escarabajo and Dragonfly. He studied at the Instituto México, but only reached the second year of high school and was a companion/friend of "Tripaseca (Dry Gut)" until he decided to follow the path of evil, Chapulín on the other hand choose the path of good.
When not on duty, he uses disguises to appear like an ordinary person and to be able to carry out everyday activities without being recognized. Among the costumes he uses are a fake mustache and glasses, which he must connect to an electrical outlet because they are contact lenses.
The show's success was largely due to the fact that it embodied many aspects of Latin and Mexican culture while making a critique on the unrealistic, under the sheets of a bed or the like and he would be immediately recognized, regardless of time or place as the summoning's for his help can especially unfold anywhere being a hero of undetermined geographic and temporal location: His adventures could be in the American Old West, in Ancient China, in London, in the Swiss Alps, during the Spanish Inquisition, in Pirate Ships, Nazi Germany, Outer Space alongside Extraterrestrial encounters (Mars, Venus, amongst other vaster planets will recognize Chapulín), the Supernatural (Ghosts and amongst other genuine Magical Elements), in the Distant Future, including his interaction in certain occasions with literary characters such as Romeo and Juliet ("Juleo y Rumieta", or literally "Juleo and Rumiet"), Snow White, And many more.
Though in such random situations he will tend to boast, only to stumble and fall right away, He is quite clumsy sometimes falling to the ground or hits something/somebody by accident, and at times shy/fearful in the face of danger, he is however always brave enough to face danger even if it is sometimes against his will. Chapulín Colorado is believed by people to be a great superhero, whose greatest shield/coat of arms of all is his heart (as said in every intro) Given Chapulin's nobility and honest well-meaning nature that stands out since he is always willing to go to the plea of people in danger without any distinction and he does not ask for anything in return for his services, doing his best to help in whatever situation he's in despite his flaws. With cunning alongside his heart of gold, he managed to overcome odds and all of his adventures have mostly ended well as a result.

Not affected by alterations to recalling one's original timeline. Appears as an idea for Latin America wanting a hero to defend them, yet ascending past the endings of his Cosmology of which physics including time functions very differently, and helping those simultaneously even in the real world to alter it many times with no repercussions), Teleportation/Dimensional Travel (Appears unexpectedly when called upon[26]. Chapulin can move through alternate universes, like the time he moved to the "Real World," where even Dr. Chapatin can summon him despite being "Fictional"[27], resulting in Chapulin altering the real world's events[27]), Immersion (As seen here[27]), a degree of Flight (As seen here. Used in combat taking off guard the opponent then turning trajectory to make a critical hit[7]), Spaceflight (Here he kept up and toppled other as advanced Extraterrestrial invaders), Power Nullification via Squeaky Mallet of the following: Magic Negation among others (His Hammer has negated the poisonous Magic apple from Snow White[28] which later rendered the Witch to turn into an attractive woman[28]), Attack Reflection (Able to deflect bullets with his Squeaky Mallet), Limited BFR via Squeaky Mallet (Has at times sent opponents flying away to the point they are never seen again[6]), Advanced Reactive Evolution/Accelerated Development and Adaptation/Reactive Power Level (Battle & Training; Physical Stats & Abilities - Grows stronger every time he fights and can become stronger in the midst of combat[7][29]), Automatic Translation (Understands the Venus language, having over all extraterrestrial planetary languages of the solar system[30]), Cyborgization (Antennas are connected to his nervous system[31]), Social Influencing (As shown here[32]), Telepathy (Heard a plea from someone's mind[33]), Extrasensory Perception (Possesses "that 6th sense for alerting unexpected danger"[6]), Precognition (Can instantly dodge barrage of bullets behind him, from far away[34]), Breaking the Fourth Wall (Read his own Comics[35]), Extremely High Luck (Has situations that look dire initially but then by impossible[36] outcomes comes out on top), Superhuman Speed/Statistics Amplification (With the activation of his Hyper-Speed Antennae he fodders the opponent, becoming so fast that he already has a plan elaborated for his next move[37]), Empathic Manipulation (Can make people irrationally fall in love with his mallet alone.[28]), Passive Purification/Passive Aura (Types 2 and 3. Aura is such that just being in the vicinity cured those with maddening traits, even soulless villains couldn't count on Chapulín's purification aura as contact alone transformed a thief into becoming a citizen. Can cure those with split personalities. Healed those that had bodily destruction, even making the other feel ill[38]), Cosmic Awareness/Clairvoyance (Is remixed with his enhanced senses, that can detect Planck sizes. Regardless of how far away the Timeline or Universe it is, Chapulín will know a person's plans before it happens), Multilocation (His dedication is such that he can be anywhere simultaneously to help those in need. Here he used this in combat, using a variety of his abilities and willingly preoccupying simultaneously to overwhelm their chances), Construction/Preparation (Highly intelligent enough to build his own space expedition "NACHA" without the money, teach someone how to fix an entire planet, made/fix super AI Robots that handle complex tasks "as easy as serving tea's", and build technology so advanced that non-technological objects fly[3]), Intangibility, Incorporeality/Invisibility (Ghost Forms), Necromancy/Resurrection (He told the dead to follow them and they just did[39])

And similarly here), Cosmic Radiations/Extreme Cold (Functioned in the vastness of outer space[5]), Power Nullification (Has consistently survived blows from his own Mallet), BFR (Aside his Mallet, Chapulín can be stuck in the past only to teleport back. Chapulin's teleporting overall counters certain BFR's), Extreme Heat/Flames (Tanked a gas leak kitchen explosion[40]), Pain Manipulation (As shown here[15]), Toon Force/Subjective Reality (Inventory of the verse has cartoonish properties, in general, such as Matisimio Kid shooting holes in the sky and Chapulin can tank[41] even overpower these. Not effected by the verses bullets, of which just shooting a portrait is enough to instantly kill. Not affected by civilians' Subjective Reality, which can erase entire events like they never happened), Cosmic Awareness (An all-knowing Magic Mirror that even acknowledged real-world events, couldn't foretell what Chapulín did just from his presence alone[28]).
All previous abilities highly enhanced, plus:
- Paralysis Inducement/Durability Negation (Via The Paralyzing Horn, it forms a field of ultra frequency bureaucratic static properties. Paralyzes down to a Macro Quantum Level. Those that were far technologically superior couldn't budge out of it's properties. people don't realize being frozen by it, quickly coming up with plans and subdues his opponents. paused objects from gravity to his advantage[6] no matter how heavy or far away amidst enemies. halted advanced Martians who retreated overwhelmed and similarly other aliens were astonished by it)
- Sizeshifting/Small Size (Type 1; Via Tinyish Pills. Will reduce him to the size of 20 cm, The effects of the pill last 10 minutes and returns to normal size[42]. Fought on par with Super Sam[47][48] and Matafácil[49][Statistics Values 1]. Shown to be superior to civilians one of whom tanked a point-blank explosion that reached their 10th floor and Chapulin himself has tanked, another only had a broken arm from taking several oversized meteor's that caused an earthquake, an archaeologist said it was "the world record" and Chapulin said that they were in the thousands), higher with Squeaky Mallet (His attacks are at least twice strong with his Squeaky Mallet, as he has casually sent grown people flying and a boulder flying with it), even higher with Reactive Evolution. Lifting Strength: At least Superhuman (Has contended with Matafacil, later throwing Matafacil with enough force to cause a hole in a metallic wall in his shape), possibly higher (Twisted and elongated necks. Chapulín lifted and held on to oversized meteorites) | At least Superhuman (Way stronger than before)
Striking Strength: At least Building level | At least Multi-City Block level to Multi-City Block level+
Durability: At least Building level (Survived his own hammer's strikes. More durable than el Pirata del Asteroide, who can withstand the impact of an asteroid[4]. Can fight against people who are able to harm him. Survived the debris from the mine being able to clearly say his phrase and here similarly in comics. Survived his own hammer's strikes. Tanked a gas leak kitchen explosion, yielding this much[40]), even higher with Reactive Evolution. Toon Force, Regeneration, and extensive luck make him rather hard to kill | At least Multi-City Block level to Multi-City Block level+, even higher with Reactive Evolution. Interplanetary to Interstellar with Teleportation and potentially Interdimensional (Easily functioned in the circus-like pocket dimension of robot clowns who control and defy the laws of reality like drawings to come to life, he danced and sang with them and then reappear out of said pocket dimension)
- Squeaky Mallet
- Little Vinyl Antennae
- Tinyish Pills
- The Paralyzing Horn
- A small mustache that somehow successfully disguises himself from the public
Intelligence: At least Genius (Chapulín can mostly come off as goofy with certain cloddish movements. However, when the situation requires it, Chapulín Colorado can behave seriously; being capable of devising quick cunning plans either using powers/advantages of such and then some over the weaknesses of an opponent or solving an unorthodox problem. He also states that he was part of a Similar Super Hero Legion, meaning he has a lot more experience than people give him credit for. Chapulín is also multilingual, able to understand/translate and speak any language of the universe just by his antennas capturing it; Understands the Venus language, having overall extraterrestrial planetary languages of the solar system.[30] He is also cultured since he knows countless stories or works in culture. Chapulín later in his career led his own spaceship expedition, saying his fabrications with Space ships have gone to Mars, Saturn, among others, while also explaining the complex components of such[3], Said Space ships while needing some engineering assistance have worked as they are confirmed to indeed operate well through many planets: Jupiter being just one Example, it also suggested that he created a Robot that adjusts these ships more and was able to fix said bot himself[3])
Weaknesses: People do take advantage of his nobility and can make some mistakes when he goes to fight.
Notable Attacks/Techniques:
- Squeaky Mallet, also known as Marreta Biônica (Bionic Hammer), is Chapulín's primary iconic weapon. It is a red and yellow hammer which not only pulverizes his enemies but also faithfully returns to his hands with a simple whistle, like a boomerang or Thor's Mjolnir. He has sent grown people and heavier objects flying exceeding distances with it.
- Little Vinyl Antennae: two red and yellow antennae on the top of the hero's hood that are connected directly to his body's nervous system, allowing him to have direct control of its powers including: detecting presence of criminals and dangerous situations in general, decode and translate various languages and secret codes, capture readings of toxic or hazardous materials, receive requests for help and activate special electronic bio-resources in the Chapulín's body. The latter allows Chapulín to activate his Antenitas de Alta Velocidad (High-Speed Antennaes), dramatically increasing his speed and allowing him to fight on equal terms with fast foes (to the point of casually deflecting bullets).
- Tinyish Pills: special pills when swallowed by Chapulín is reduced to the size of 20 cm tall to pick enemies off guard or to access hard-to-reach locations. The effects of the pill last an average of 10 minutes and at the end of time Chapolin returns to his normal size. A common joke on the show is that Chapulín's enemies often insinuate that the use of this equipment makes no difference at all, in allusion to the hero's short stature in his normal size (for example, when he explained the use of the pills to his nemesis Tripaseca before using it, he sarcastically remarked: "Well, then you should already have taken one of those, Chapulín!") with his physicals stats being not hindered in this state, having tripped and and apprehended his opponents.
- The Paralyzing Horn: a bicycle horn when aimed at a person or object sounded once, would freeze it immediately in mid-air. Sounding the horn twice makes the frozen person or object free again. Though there are running jokes of him being clumsy with this, he mostly shown to have competent uses with the horn as he is able to quickly come up with plans with it to subdue his opponents.
- Ability to Fly: He has shown the ability to fly and putted it to use in various episodes like in the episode where Chapulín was fighting a Martial Arts master, Chapulín becomes vertical in the air and changes trajectory from behind and be able to make a hit, effectively knocking out his opponent.
- Teleportation: He can teleport when someone pleas for him, though not just for pleas as there are several episodes in which Chapulín gets into a box, barrel, dead box, etc. then appears by entering through the door or coming out of another box. he can also vanish at will and has used this in combat. has appeared in vaster distances, from other planets and even out of a clown's pocket dimension.
- Radial Frequency: With its vinyl antennas, the Chapulín Colorado can transmit on any frequency, AM or FM, this is stated in the chapter in which the astronauts are on the planet Venus, where the girls (Florinda Meza and Marie Antoinette de las Nieves) Say everything in Venusian (all with the vowel U)
- Super Reflexes: Several episodes show the Chapulín in the middle of a shooting and with strange movements falls to the ground. Then comes the lady thinking that is dead and textually the Chapulín says: "dodge the bullets".
- Plurilingual: Can understand and speak any language in the universe just by his antennas capturing it.
- Bamboozle: With a doll similar to him.
- Camouflage: Can go unnoticed by just putting on a small mustache.
