Ceph Devastator Crysis 3 02

Summary

The Ceph Devastator, commonly referred to as the Ceph Heavy, is a large Ceph infantry unit that consists of a normal Ceph unit force-grown to fit a large exoskeleton that makes it essentially a walking tank. They sacrifice the mobility of the smaller Ceph infantry units in favour of thick armour protection and devastating firepower. They are usually deployed onto battlefields via Ceph Dropships in specialized drop pods. Their role is providing extra firepower and a devastating third line of assault, with Ceph Reavers and Grunts making up the first and second lines of assault respectively. They are deadly at any range: from a distance they rain down plasma bolts and plasma mortars on enemies, while up close they lash out violently with their sheer size and strength.

Powers and Stats

Tier: 9-A physically. 9-B with Reaper Cannon. 9-A with X-PAC Mortar

Name: Ceph Devastator (Ceph Heavy)

Origin: Crysis

Gender: N/A

Age: Varies

Height: 4 metres

Classification: Alien, Ceph (Stage 2), Cyborg armoured assault units

Powers and Abilities: Superhuman Physical Characteristics, Nanotechnology (Most or all Ceph technology is nanotech-based), Cyborgization (Normal), Adaptation (Like all Stage 2 Ceph they adapted to Earth’s climate and gravity, which is drastically different from their homeworld’s), Information Analysis (Should still retain the Stage 1 ability to scan and analyse human technology), Energy Projection (via the Reaper Cannon and X-PAC Mortar, which are actually built to be a part of their arms), Self-Sustenance (Type 1: Respiratory sulf-sustenance under water), Enhanced Senses (The Stalkers and Grunts that went after Alcatraz under the Onyx building could track him in near-total darkness, indicating enhanced vision compared to humans; likely have Nanovision like the Nanosuit 2.0. Devastators should also have the same), Telepathic connection to the Ceph hive mind

Attack Potency: Small Building level+ physically (Can smash through reinforced concrete walls with ease. Much stronger than Nanosuit operators, who are capable of crumpling the back of a CELL Repressor APC [a class of vehicle capable of tanking grenades like these] in a single stomp with their suit’s full strength). Wall level+ with Reaper Cannon (A quick burst of plasma bullets in full-auto mode can destroy a CELL anti-air defence network terminal or kill a Nanosuit operator not using Maximum Armour mode. A single blast in the shotgun-like spread-shot mode can accomplish the same and also blast apart the torsos of Ceph Grunts and Reavers. Overall power per shot in full-auto mode seemingly comparable to the .50 HMG and power per shot in spread-shot mode comparable or even superior to that of the Gauss Rifle). Small Building level+ with X-PAC Mortar (The grenade launcher mode’s plasma grenades are at least as powerful as the grenades fired from the underbarrel attachments of the SCAR and Grendel. The plasma missiles fired in the RPG mode are seemingly comparable to the Joint Anti-Tank Weapon, given their ability to down a Ceph Pinger in only two [or even one if it hits the weak spot] shots)

Speed: Athletic Human (Can keep up with the baseline speed of a Nanosuit 2.0 wearer, which is around 30 km/hr)

Lifting Strength: At least Class 5 (One Devastator tipped a 2,000 kg Chevrolet taxi that was dropped on its head “like a seesaw” and moved it aside. Much stronger than Alcatraz, who kicked that taxi onto its head in the first place)

Striking Strength: Small Building level+

Durability: At least Small Building level+ (Can shrug off multiple M17 fragmentation grenades to the face. Putting them down requires multiple REX charges, two of which are sufficient to blast apart a small building sized section of a hydroelectric dam)

Stamina: Superhuman. Their overall endurance is greater than that of the Ceph Stalker and Grunt units. Can continue fighting despite having their tentacles and limbs blown off and despite taking multiple grenades to the face. Like Nanosuit operators, they can likely fight for long periods without sustenance and rest.

Range: Likely several hundred metres with their weapons.

Standard Equipment:

  • Reaper Cannon: A plasma “heavy minigun” built into their right arms. In the standard full-auto mode, it rapidly spits out blue-white bolts of superheated plasma at targets out to medium range. In the spread-shot mode, it fires ten of these bolts with a shotgun-like spread for close range devastation.
  • X-PAC Mortar: A plasma grenade launcher and RPG in one. In the grenade launcher mode, it fires a devastating five-round-burst of blue plasma grenades out to medium range. In the RPG mode, it fires a line-of-sight blue plasma missile out to long range. Both the grenades and missiles have a secondary EMP effect which can temporarily knock out Nanosuit systems such as cloak and armour modes; any Nanosuit wearer lucky enough not to be caught in their blast radius would be unlucky enough to be knocked out of cloak or armour mode by the wider radius EMP bubble of their detonations.

Intelligence: Below average. The connection to the Ceph hivemind grants them a level of tactical coordination and communication capabilities that human soldiers can only dream of. However, they haven’t shown any higher thinking capabilities in combat, and are overall only slightly better than the Ceph Stalkers in this area. They always practice only one of two tactics in combat: either dig in at one spot and just fire away at enemies with their heavy weapons, or relentlessly chase after an enemy and lash out with their sheer physical might.

Weaknesses:

  • They sacrifice mobility and agility for sheer durability and firepower. Their top speed is only around what the fastest normal human soldiers are capable of. While this puts them in the same class as the Grunts and Reavers, the Devastators do sacrifice the superhuman acrobatic capabilities of the Grunts and Reavers.
  • Their sheer bulk and lack of agility makes them easy targets for long range attackers, such as those wielding Gauss rifles and JAW missile launchers.
  • Their sheer size and the immense thuds of their footsteps make it impossible for them to practice stealth and sneak up on enemies.
  • They are lacking in any tactical acumen. Literally their only two methods of fighting are to either hunker down and spray with their weapons or to blindly charge at enemies and lash out with their brute strength.
  • If their helmets can somehow be knocked off, their weak jelly-like heads will be exposed. This leaves them vulnerable to being put down quickly with an accurate long range weapon such as a JAW or Gauss rifle.
