Summary

Steve Rogers AKA Captain America is a primary protagonist from the Marvel vs. Capcom series. During World War II in the early 1940s, Steve used to be a scrawny man who was turned into a super-soldier after becoming the sole recipient of a covert military experiment, the Super Soldier Serum. As Captain America, he fought the evil and injustice that threatened the country's freedom and liberty, before having been found frozen in ice decades later and awoke into a different era after having been presumed dead towards the end of the war. Captain America's deep love for his country and unparalleled sense of justice made him one of the most respected heroes in the Marvel Universe, and even the long-time leader of the Avengers, a group dedicated to keeping the world safe from harm.

When Thanos had wiped out half of the population with the Infinity Gems, Captain America lead the Task Force consisting of any remaining Avengers, X-Men and villains of Earth as a strike force against the Mad Titan himself, an effort the yielded success. Following this, the legendary Star-Splanged Avenger responsed to the return of Apocalypse, fought alongside heroes from the Capcom Universe to take on Onslaught before they were sent back, aided in the defeat of Abyss as well as Galactus, and lead The Resistance against Ultron-Sigma when the latter threatened the merged worlds of Marvel and Capcom.

  • Forward Throw: Captain America grabs the opponent and then slams them over his shoulder onto the ground.
  • Back Throw: Captain America grabs the opponent, rolls onto his back, and flips them into the air by pushing them off with both feet.
  • Aerial Throw: In pre-MvC3 titles, Captain America grabs the opponent mid-air and then falls while smashing them back down to the ground. From Marvel vs. Capcom 3 onwards, Captain America simply grabs the aerial opponent and then throws them down onto the ground beneath him.

  • Shield Slash: Captain America throws his shield either straight forward (while standing/crouching) or in a slight upwards angle, which flies in an energy trail and ricochets off after hitting an opponent or a wall, returning back to him (though it can miss him in pre-MvC3 titles, having to pick it up by himself). • Liberty Shock: Captain America holds his shield out in-front of him, able to deflect attacks from the front or above, countering with a shield bash that stuns the opponent or reflecting projectiles back at them.

  • Final Justice: Captain America charges towards the opponent with an elbow tackle. If hit, an opponent will be stunned as Captain America follows with a quick flurry of punches and kicks before throwing them into the air and finishing with a falling, explosive pile-driver upon impact.
  • Hyper Charging Star: Captain America performs a much quicker and stronger version of the Charging Star while covered in an energy aura, hitting the opponent multiple times before knocking them down. The move can block stronger projectile moves (such as Ryu's Shinku Hadoken and Hulk's Gamma Wave/Tsunami).
  • Hyper Stars and Stripes: Captain America performs three multi-htting Stars and Stripes in a quick succession; the first two grounded uppercuts while rushing forward before performing a final, stronger uppercut that sends both himself and an opponent upwards into the air.
  • Unyielding Justice: Captain America's Level 3 Hyper Combo in Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite, in which he starts with a powerful kick that sends the opponent flying away. He then tosses his shield at them and then kicks it back, running towards the opponent with a uppercut and finishes with a powerful Stars and Stripes.

Unyielding Justice

  • Power Gem: Captain America can use the Power Gem to increase his attack damage for a short period of time, and in Marvel Super Heroes, give his attacks multi-hit properties (preceding Hyper Charging Star and Hyper Stars and Stripes in following titles). In Infinite, the Infinity Surge version grants him a powerful attack with increased pushback force.
  • Time Gem: Captain America can use the Time Gem to increase his movement speed for a brief time. In Infinite, the Infinity Surge version allows him to move a set distance forward or backwards in the form of an instant dash that goes through the opponent and their attacks.
  • Reality Gem: Captain America can use the Reality Gem to create three different elemental projectiles across the screen; electric spheres, icicles and fire orbs. In Infinite, the Infinity Surge version will make him launch a slow, homing energy burst with each use.
  • Space Gem: Captain America can use the Space Gem to increase his defense for a period of time, which reduces damage taken from his opponent's attacks. In Infinite, the Infinity Surge version allows him to push the opponent forward or backwards, and the Infinity Storm version seals them in a large, square force cage which restricts their movement for a while.
  • Mind Gem: Captain America can use the Mind Gem to constantly refill his Hyper Combo gauge for a short period of time. In Infinite, the Infinity Surge version provides him a special throw attack which instantly stuns an opponent if hit.
  • Soul Gem: Captain America can use the Soul Gem to increase/fill his health for a short period of time. In Infinite, the Infinity Surge version grants him a far-reaching energy attack which absorbs health off the opponent upon hit.
