I'm not saying Jet's a whole tier or outclasses Sonic in reaction speed, it's completely possible for a character to defeat another that is a bit faster than them, especially if it's not in actual movement speed.
- So then Infinite not being faster than Sonic is also headcanon because he outflies Sonic in gameplay most of the time and stomped Sonic in the opening cutscene where he did not get any assistance.
- Sonic Forces Speed Battle did release before Sonic Forces though, so the updates are probably like the ones in Kirby Star Allies, where in-verse the updates just show more of what canonically happened. It's not like Kirby went to save Hyness almost a year later, in-verse the update provided what happened right after Story Mode. This can be the same with Sonic Forces, where Sonic Forces Speed Battle was just discount Sonic Forces, kind of like the 3DS versions of some games except without the plot being said in-game. The plot is just a multiplayer VS runner, but they don't explain anything related to aspects like the goal of stages being a Phantom Ruby Prototype, if the player doesn't know what the "canon" Sonic Forces is then they wouldn't understand that.
