Beetlejuice... Beetlejuice... BEETLEJUIIIIICE!
~ Lydia summoning Beetlejuice[1]
EEEEIIHAHAHAHAA! AAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHA! It's SHOWTIME!
~ Beetlejuice upon being summoned by Lydia[2]

Summary

Beetlejuice is a ghostly con-man and resident of the Netherworld. He is the best friend of Lydia Deetz, of whom he had met a year prior to the events of the show. In contrast to his villainous depiction in the film, though very much dishonest and crude, he is portrayed as a trickster and prankster with a good heart, who is willing to go above and beyond for his friend. He possesses many shapeshifting powers that allow him to become the literal interoperation of whatever figure of speech he spouts. which often gets him into trouble.

Lifting Strength: Superhuman (He jumped from the bottom of the ocean to the surface in about a second[58]), Class M with Telekinesis (He brought down a small moon[30]), Stellar with Size Manipulation (He could wrestle stars[43])

Stamina: Superhuman (He functions fine after being split into pieces[1] and completely laughed off having his body engulfed in electricity[44]. Even after a harder charge of 50,000 volts, Beetlejuice was completely unfazed seconds afterwards[27]. He has no reaction to being set aflame[27]. In general, he treats serious bodily harm including the detachment of his body parts as a complete joke[23]. He was able to act normally while frozen into a block of ice and freed himself shortly after[6]. He can have a great amount of things fall on him and still remain fine and ready to fire back almost immediately[30])

  • Optional Equipment: Stop Watch, Sword, New U Cologne

Intelligence: Average to Gifted (Beetlejuice can often be stubborn and take things the wrong way, often warping advice given to him to absurd and outlandish extremes. He displays a childlike and almost self-destructive personality, but he has an affinity for pranks and dealing with others with his supernatural powers, which he has in spades, and still uses them like a professional showman, picking out the right power for a given situation on the fly[6]. He also has experience with being chemist, able to create a cologne that reverses someone's personality, although these results were unforeseen[51]. Beetlejuce built a car with a machine out of nothing but some random objects and using electric eels as a power source[60]. He is a skilled fencer, able to fight even while not looking and across multiple environments[10])

Standard Tactics: Beetlejuice is not much of a physical fighter and usually attacks with his ghostly magic instead, using tricks such as possession, telekinesis, transmutation, and shapeshifting to deal with opponents efficiently, making creative use of his teleportation abilities to confuse them, both on himself, and on others.

Weaknesses: He is deathly afraid of sandworms to the point where he cannot fly near them[1], however, he is able to overcome this fear for his loved ones[1][26]. By saying his name three times with the intent to banish him, he can be forcibly taken to the Neitherworld[18][17] although nothing stops him from coming back to Lydia's house since her room contains a mirror portal[17]. When his name is said in the Neitherworld, it summons him back there[14]. Outside of the house, he is able to manifest himself in weaker forms until someone says his name three times, giving him access to his full power.[19] At times, his wordplay abilities can be to his detriment.[14] He requires his head to be on his body in order to use his powers[5], although this only seems to be the case when he is specifically decapitated since in other showings when Beetlejuice is in pieces, reduced to a puddle, or missing other body parts, he is able to regenerate or use his ghostly powers without issue. This is also inconsistent as there are other instances when he can use his magic without his head.[6] and get it back instantly.[61]
