~ Beetlejuice upon being summoned by Lydia[2] |
Summary
Beetlejuice is a ghostly con-man and resident of the Netherworld. He is the best friend of Lydia Deetz, of whom he had met a year prior to the events of the show. In contrast to his villainous depiction in the film, though very much dishonest and crude, he is portrayed as a trickster and prankster with a good heart, who is willing to go above and beyond for his friend. He possesses many shapeshifting powers that allow him to become the literal interoperation of whatever figure of speech he spouts. which often gets him into trouble.

- Social Influencing (When disguised as a witch, he expertly blended in and gained the favor of everyone with his jokes, even getting a warlock fall in love with him[6]. Most people scream and are sent into a panic at the sight of him[7]. Beetlejuice is a trickster, able to manipulate even crowds of people quite easily and convince them into following his schemes[8]. He tricked a computer into giving away it's own password[9])
- Expert Fencer (He is able to handle himself with a blade, even able to parry attacks without looking[10])
- Stealth Mastery (He skillfully stole Charles's watch without him noticing[11]. Alongside Lydia, he was able to sneak into a museum[7])

He treats serious bodily harm including the detachment of his body parts as a complete joke[23]. If any of his body parts are detached from him, he can have them magically return to him[23]. Beetlejuice is not able to conventionally die as he is already dead[24]. Ghosts in the Neitherworld evidently do not age since their deaths, such as Christopher Columbus, who died hundreds of years ago and looks exactly the same as when he was alive[25]. He last visited his parents hundreds of years ago[26])
- Regeneration (Mid-High; He can pull himself back together and regenerate after being shattered into pieces[1]. He can reform his head, skeleton, flesh and clones from only a pair of eyes[18]. - Summoning (He can summon any object of his choosing out of thin air[1]. Just by saying he wishes for something, he can summon it to his side[14]. During a battle with a cartoon character, he could summon cartoony objects to fall from the sky and harm his opponent[30])
- Life Manipulation (He can bring inanimate objects to life[1])
- Cloth Manipulation (He could change Lydia's clothes with a zap[1]. While possessing Claire, he changed her costume as well[19])
- Fissionism (He could split himself into two and then fuse both parts of him back together[31])
- Teleportation (He is able to teleport from place to place[18]. Beetlejuice can even teleport others, as he did with an enemy, making him experience the blunt force trauma he would have received upon his fall instead of him[24]. He is able to teleport to literal Nowhere, a blank and empty void where nothing exists)
- Hammerspace (He can pull things out of nowhere[32])
- Possession (He can possess inanimate objects by teleporting into them[33]. He was able to possess a flower and a garden hose this way[17]. Without coming into contact with her, he was able to possess Claire[19]. While possessing people, Beetlejuice is able to change their bodies as he pleases and hide in their bodies without them noticing[14]. He is able to possess two things at the same time[34]. He was able to possess a ventriloquist dummy from a distance by firing a beam at it, although later, this was not even required[11])
- Sealing (He was able to seal Lydia in his mind from across dimensions, pulling her towards his head in the process[17]. As a vacuum, he could seal a dust demon[35])
- Dimensional Travel, Portal Creation and BFR (He can travel from the Neitherworld to Lydia's house through a mirror portal[17]. He can also teleport from the Neitherworld to other areas on Earth in weaker forms until his name is said three times[19]. While freed, he is able to teleport to the Neitherworld at will[14] and create portals to it to trap people in[36]. With a zap, he could turn a hole in the ground into a Neitherworld portal that sucked people down into it[22]) He is able to kick people out of his mindscape[17])
- Voice Mimicry and Throwing (While shapeshifting into Delia, he copied her voice perfectly[18]. Although he does not need to shapeshift in order to use this skill, as he copies Lydia's voice in his normal form as well[17]. He can literally throw his voice, projecting it in a beam of energy[14])
- Immersion (He can teleport inside of posters and books, possessing the characters on them as well[19]. He can appear in and exit mirrors[37]. Beetlejuice can even enter inside pre-recorded videos[26] and a video game[38])

With a beam, he could control a curtain and several supplies from a woman's purse to give her a complete makeover[11]. Without using a beam, he could cause a record to float itself over to a player[11])
- Size Manipulation (He can become the size of a giant[14], shrink to be as small as a worm[11], and can increase[40] or decrease the size of others[41]. He can shrink to be as small as an amebae[29]. He shrunk Lydia's entire room[42]. When he teleported Lydia and her classmates to space, he altered everyone's sizes so that they were comparable to constellations[43])
- Precognition (When under the guise of a fortune teller with a crystal ball, he could see the future that would have been if he did not intervene and save Lydia[24])

- Mind Manipulation (He hypnotized an entire town to shop at Lydia's store with the process itself only taking a few seconds using methods from hypnotic eyes to swinging objects[47]. He is also able to completely snap them out of it with them having no recollection of what just happened[47]. He shot a ray at a man, causing him to only meow instead of speak normally[41]. He hypnotized a security guard with a pocket watch into slumber[7]. He hypnotized Grandfather Clock with just his eyes. Grandfather Time is the embodiment of time and the effects of hypnotizing him affected time itself[48])
- Technology Manipulation (He hijacked all TVs in town to project his commercial only[47])
- Existence Erasure (He made an entire boutique and it's items disappear[47]. He can turn into a pencil and erase things[49])
- Sleep Manipulation and Fragrance Manipulation (The odor of his feet is enough to knock out Lydia's parents for a good amount of time[39]. The same goes for his armpit odor[50])
- Biological Manipulation (He caused witches to grow a third leg[6])
- Morality Manipulation and Corruption (Type 1; He created the New U Cologne, which reverses the personality of the victim as well as their physical body, clothes and vehicles[51])

- Darkness Manipulation (He was able to manipulate someone else's shadow[50])
- Reality Warping and Plot Manipulation (He is able to completely warp his surroundings to fit his vision[29]. He warped reality to behave and look more like a film noir, changing reality from black and white or fully colored with a snap of his fingers and making noir cliches appear[53]. He could even cause a "flashback" in reality, making it so that Lydia experienced the cross-fade distortion as well. Beetlejuice was actively narrating and constructing this film noir narrative to make it work in reality, even if the details did not make sense[53]. When he narrated, all the things he was saying happened in reality as well[53]. He warped reality into a starry night with himself as the moon[20]. After Goody Two Shoes warped reality, he returned everything back to normal[54])

- Instinctive Action (His hand is able to write out a whole novel without the operation of his brain while he is asleep[55])

- Resistances to:
- Radiation Manipulation (He is completely unaffected by swimming in radioactive waste[5])
- Electricity Manipulation (He laughed off his entire body being engulfed in electricity[44]. Although an electric fence of 50,000 volts shocks and chars him, he is perfectly fine the next second[27])
- Sleep Manipulation and Fragrance Manipulation (He is unaffected by the odor of his own feet, which could knock out Lydia's parents in seconds[39])
- Ice Manipulation (When he was frozen in a block of ice, he was able to act normally and free himself via heat shortly after[6])
- Fire Manipulation (He doesn't even react to setting himself on fire[27])
- Reality Warping, Mind Manipulation, Memory Manipulation, Morality Manipulation (After Goody Two Shoes warped reality to turn everything prissy and nice, he was able to snap out of her spell, regain his memories, and retain his personality. After a second blast, he was completely immune and faked it for the purpose of tricking her[54])
- Time Manipulation (He is unaffected by the effects of Grandfather Clock's time warp, which was making time go crazy, stopping multiple people in place and warping their flows of time. He was able to function normally alongside Sandworms, which are notably immune to the warp[48])
Attack Potency: Multi-City Block level+ (He smashed his rival with a small moon[30]. He is able to harm his friends, who are comparable to him[15]), Moon level with Shapeshifting (He can shapeshift into the moon[20]), Large Star level with Size Manipulation (Grew to such a size that he was able to wrestle with a constellation[43]), Universe level+ with Causality Manipulation (When he altered the timeline, he wiped out all there was of his original time and Neitherworld, reducing it all to a black void with everything unique to his original timeline being erased[12])
Speed: High Hypersonic+ travel speed (He was able to jump into space in seconds[49]), Sub-Relativistic combat and reaction speed (He is able to stretch his arms fast enough to travel the whole world in a short timeframe[57])
Lifting Strength: Superhuman (He jumped from the bottom of the ocean to the surface in about a second[58]), Class M with Telekinesis (He brought down a small moon[30]), Stellar with Size Manipulation (He could wrestle stars[43])
Striking Strength: Multi-City Block level+, Large Star level with Size Manipulation
Durability: Multi-City Block level+ (He is able to survive an attack from his own magic[59]. He survived getting crushed by a gigantic ship[54]), Moon level with Shapeshifting, Large Star level with Size Manipulation (He was able to take hits from constellations[43]), Immortality makes him difficult to kill
Stamina: Superhuman (He functions fine after being split into pieces[1] and completely laughed off having his body engulfed in electricity[44]. Even after a harder charge of 50,000 volts, Beetlejuice was completely unfazed seconds afterwards[27]. He has no reaction to being set aflame[27]. In general, he treats serious bodily harm including the detachment of his body parts as a complete joke[23]. He was able to act normally while frozen into a block of ice and freed himself shortly after[6]. He can have a great amount of things fall on him and still remain fine and ready to fire back almost immediately[30])
Range: Standard Melee Range, Tens of Meters with Standard Magic, Kilometers with Spatial Manipulation, Planetary with Body Control, Interstellar with Size Manipulation, Interdimensional with Dimensional Travel, Portal Creation, BFR, Teleportation, Clairvoyance and Sealing
Standard Equipment: None notable
- Optional Equipment: Stop Watch, Sword, New U Cologne
Intelligence: Average to Gifted (Beetlejuice can often be stubborn and take things the wrong way, often warping advice given to him to absurd and outlandish extremes. He displays a childlike and almost self-destructive personality, but he has an affinity for pranks and dealing with others with his supernatural powers, which he has in spades, and still uses them like a professional showman, picking out the right power for a given situation on the fly[6]. He also has experience with being chemist, able to create a cologne that reverses someone's personality, although these results were unforeseen[51]. Beetlejuce built a car with a machine out of nothing but some random objects and using electric eels as a power source[60]. He is a skilled fencer, able to fight even while not looking and across multiple environments[10])
Standard Tactics: Beetlejuice is not much of a physical fighter and usually attacks with his ghostly magic instead, using tricks such as possession, telekinesis, transmutation, and shapeshifting to deal with opponents efficiently, making creative use of his teleportation abilities to confuse them, both on himself, and on others.
Weaknesses: He is deathly afraid of sandworms to the point where he cannot fly near them[1], however, he is able to overcome this fear for his loved ones[1][26]. By saying his name three times with the intent to banish him, he can be forcibly taken to the Neitherworld[18][17] although nothing stops him from coming back to Lydia's house since her room contains a mirror portal[17]. When his name is said in the Neitherworld, it summons him back there[14]. Outside of the house, he is able to manifest himself in weaker forms until someone says his name three times, giving him access to his full power.[19] At times, his wordplay abilities can be to his detriment.[14] He requires his head to be on his body in order to use his powers[5], although this only seems to be the case when he is specifically decapitated since in other showings when Beetlejuice is in pieces, reduced to a puddle, or missing other body parts, he is able to regenerate or use his ghostly powers without issue. This is also inconsistent as there are other instances when he can use his magic without his head.[6] and get it back instantly.[61]
