Summary

Beached Things are the souls of the dead returning to their body after necrosis causing a Death Stranding, where the line between the dimension of the living and dead is blurred. If a corpse is not completely destroyed within 48 hours, usually through cremation, a new Beached Thing will emerge. Due to not passing through the world of the dead, the consciousness of a Beached Thing create a Beach, a new world that acts as a limbo between the world of the living and dead, existing in a different dimension and lacking a flow of time. Beached Things aggressively attempt to devour living humans, causing the antimatter inside them to react and create a Voidout, an explosion that can wipe out entire cities and leave craters behind.

Powers and Stats

Tier: 9-B7-B with Environmental Destruction, 6-A with Voidout

Name: Beached Things, BTs, Apparitions of the Purgatory

Origin: Death Stranding

Gender: Varies

Age: Varies

Classification: Entities whose souls are stranded in the world of the living, Ghosts

Powers and Abilities:

Superhuman Physical Characteristics, Flight, Immortality (Type 1 and 7), Self-Sustenance (Type 1, 2, and 3), Higher-Dimensional Existence (Produce and strongly connected to chiralium which is not affected by the passage of time. Humans could not perceive chiralium before the barrier between life and death weakened due to chiralium existing in a different dimension), Enhanced Senses (Blind, but can navigate through sound and smelling), Weather Manipulation, Time Manipulation, Age Manipulation, and Corrosion Inducement (Their presence cause timefall rain. The droplets of timefall rapidly ages the first solid surface they touch), Invisibility, Immaterial Intangibility (Physical attacks phases through them), Size Manipulation (Some Gazers are supersized and some of them take the form and size of an infant), Limited Electricity Manipulation and Limited Magnetism Manipulation (Their presence causes power outages and electromagnetic interference), Summoning (Gazers are sometimes connected to nearby Gazers), Tar Manipulation (Surrounds prey with tar before catching them), Duplication (Can creates Hunters; humanoids made from tar to hold prey), BFR (Sinking into the tar leads to a different dimension), Transformation (Can take the form of a Catcher), Pocket Reality Manipulation and Time Stop (Will attempt to drag their prey into a pocket reality that lacks a flow of time where the Catcher form is assumed), Madness Manipulation (Type 1) and Radiation Manipulation (Their presence increases chiral density, which causes madness and even death with overexposure), Resistance to: Time Manipulation

Superhuman Physical Characteristics, Large Size (Type 0), Immortality (Type 1 and 7), Self-Sustenance (Type 1, 2, and 3), Higher-Dimensional Existence (Strongly connected to chiralium which is not affected by the passage of time. Humans previously could not perceive chiralium due to it existing in a different dimension), Weather Manipulation, Time Manipulation, Age Manipulation, and Corrosion Inducement (Their presence cause timefall rain. The droplets of timefall rapidly ages the first solid surface they touch), Immaterial Intangibility (Physical attacks phases through them), Limited Electricity Manipulation and Limited Magnetism Manipulation (Their presence causes power outages and electromagnetic interference), Pocket Reality Manipulation and Time Stop (Creates a pocket reality that lacks a flow of time), Tar Manipulation (Submerges their pocket reality with tar), BFR (Objects sunk into the tar are transported to a different dimension), Teleportation (By sinking into the tar and emerging elsewhere from it), Biological Absorption, Explosion Manipulation, and Self-Destruction (By devouring matter, the antimatter inside Beached Things will react and cause a Voidout), Resistance to: Time Manipulation

Can bombard an area with tar), BFR (Objects sunk into the tar are transported to a different dimension), Teleportation (By diving into the tar and emerging elsewhere from it), Energy Projection and Breath Attack (Can fire energy beams from their mouth), Summoning (Can launch Gazers from its body), Biological Absorption, Explosion Manipulation, and Self-Destruction (By devouring matter, the antimatter inside Beached Things will react and cause a Voidout), Resistance to: Time Manipulation

Attack Potency: Wall level (Can send large chunks of concrete flying), City level with Environmental Destruction (Can create a pocket dimension spanning the width of a tar belt that sunk at least one city. Can submerge entire cities in tar), Continent level with Voidout (Can leave craters hundreds of kilometers in size). Ignores conventional durability by swallowing opponent to cause a Voidout

Speed: Supersonic+ reactions and combat speed (Comparable to Sam)

Lifting Strength: Class K (Can physically push down buildings into the tar. Can support their weight)

Striking Strength: Wall level, higher with energy attacks

Durability: Unknown (Physical attacks phase through them), possibly Universe level (Beaches created by the soul and consciousness of a Beached Thing are described to have countless stars. Beaches are described to be akin to a multiverse)

Stamina: Limitless

Range: Standard Melee Range, Tens of Meters with tentacles, Hundreds of Meters with energy attacks. Hundreds of Kilometers with Pocket Dimensions, Tar, and Voidouts

Standard Equipment: None

Intelligence: Animalistic. Will attempt to consume living humans.

Weaknesses: Weapons and abilities capable of expelling or destroying the souls of the dead. Gazers are blind and detect their prey using sound and smell, where it is possible for humans to become invisible to them by not moving and holding their breath. Most Gazers have an umbilical cord and will be sent to the world of the dead if the cord is cut. Beached Things usually take the weaker form of a Gazer until they capture a prey. Beached Things will only actively try to consume the matter from a living human. The tar within a Catcher's pocket dimension often pulls out partially submerged buildings from other dimensions, which allows them to be used as a platform against the tar.
