“Gallic manipulates the heart of people. He separates your close ones and sows hatred.”

“……That couldn’t be……!”

The maid turned pale.

“Why does he do that?”

“No reason. He only sneers at others, seeing them hating each other and losing their kind heartedness. That is his amusement.”

~ Meta Knight and a royal maid of Chiffon Star

Summary

Baron Gallic is a minor antagonist in the Kirby of the Stars light novels written by Mie Takase. Acting like a gentleman and claiming to be a baron, Gallic holds a fabricated persona and builds trust in others with his social skills, going from planet to planet stealing treasures undetected through his wits and the powers of the Malice Stone, which he uses to control others. The jewel secretly controls Gallic to make him feed it with power, however, unlike other victims who had their emotions and morality altered, Gallic's reaction to the stone being destroyed implies that he either didn't mind his actions or that all of them came from his own decisions altogether, the Malice Stone only placing a purpose to them. The Malice Stone chose Gallic due to being a convenient retainer and, due to only loving himself, he had no way to trigger the jewel's weakness and escape its effects.

Powers and Stats

Tier: Unknown

Name: Unknown (His true identity is unclear, although this could refer to his title of Baron), Baron Gallic (Identity he lied about and others refer to him as)

Origin: Kirby of the Stars (Mie Takase's novels)

Gender: Male

Age: Unknown

Classification: Baron (Lies about being one and is referred to as such by others), gentleman of darkness/unlawful gentleman

Powers and Abilities: Superhuman Physical Characteristics, minor Acrobatics (Stated to dodge attacks nimbly several times), Social Influencing (Abuses of lies and deceptions in life to gain trust and power, or for his amusement, remaining undetected of his crimes. Lied about being a baron and coming from a distinguished lineage, the king of Chiffon Star mentioned how eloquent, loved by everyone he was after and how he had complete trust in Gallic after the latter came to the planet "a few months ago"[1], as well as how he had charms to attract others. Tried to use half-truths while fighting Meta Knight to irritate him and make an opening, failing, but at least getting him to talk and defend the name of Daroach when Gallic talked bad about him), Weapon Mastery (Is quick and accurate throwing knives at targets), Multiple Selves (Malice Stone is heavily implied to have its own life, the jewel using its powers on its own will when Gallic uses it, it letting Gallic command targets affected when someone else holds Malice Stone, and amplifying its potency when needed to despite no one holding it. After Malice Stone was thrown away a notable distance, being lost, and then Gallic having the fortune to find it, Meta Knight figured that the stone came back because Gallic was a convenient retainer, it having somehow mobilized and then remaining immobile when seen to give the illusion of it being a coincidence. Gallic is under the Malice Stone's control to make him feed it treasures), his eyes can spark brightly when talking about something he's passionate about, his Malice Stone has: Light Manipulation (It always shines on several degrees of intensity it can control, triggering its mind powers if targets see it[2]), Mind Manipulation, Corruption, Empathic Manipulation & Morality Manipulation (Can instantly use the effects of those powers on targets, or leave them docile to believe Gallic and inclined to obey him when the effect of the stone is weaker. Can make targets hate things or people they loved[3], believe unreasonable things to sustain those feelings, be rather emotionless, pissed off, and bloodthirsty[4]. Can make targets join his side, give their lives to protect him, don't mind to be sent to kill others, even allies, nor being mistreated by Gallic. Targets retain personality and can think benefits for Gallic on their own[5] or help him beyond the orders given to them. This hypnotic effects worked on King Dedede, the customers of a store, and its clerk all at once as they briefly saw the Malice Stone[6]. When in danger, the stone was heavily implied to have released all the power of the countless treasures it absorbed to increase its potency), Memory Manipulation (When saved targets try to recall memories of their experience over how they got controlled, they fail to do so and the details of those memories become all fuzzy[7]), Statistics Reduction (Of intelligence. It made the innocent Waddle Dee edgy enough to genuinely call himself "Dark Waddle Dee, Prince of Darkness" and fight his friends, dramatically naming his attacks "Super Waddle Kick!" and "Super Waddle Dee Punch!" while remainig serious and rude, despite how he normally knows he stands no chance against them, even after he threw his kick that "naturally" was "of no power" against Meta Knight and was blocked with one hand, Waddle Dee continued unaware of his disadvantage. Ultimately Waddle Dee hit Kirby while the latter "didn't flinch at all", and would have kept on fighting and acting in the same manner without the spell having been broken), Limited Absorption & Statistics Amplification (The jewel becomes brighter and stronger by consuming valuable treasures its user gives it[8]. It could even consume Galaxia)

Attack Potency: Unknown (While in rage, he sent flying/blew away Princess Marona [by untold physical means] hard enough to make Kirby get in between her and the wall she was about to crash into, making Kirby lose his Copy Ability and even pass out for several seconds, if not minutes, despite having taken no prior damage in combat[9]. The knives he throws need to be blocked by Kirby and Meta Knight, at one point when the latter failed to block the sharpest one of some he threw, it broke his mask), ignores durability with his Malice Stone

Speed: Subsonic (Repeatedly dodged attacks from Meta Knight, King Dedede, Kirby, Blade Knight and Sword Knight with ease)

Lifting Strength: Unknown

Striking Strength: Unknown

Durability: Unknown

Stamina: Average

Range: Below Standard Melee Range physically (While tall, he shouldn't be many time bigger than Kirby, whose said to have a small body), Several Meters by throwing knives, Several Meters with the Malice Stone (Others need to see it/its light to fall under its effects), much higher with the stone's full power (Its light "covered the whole surroundings" while presumably in an open field[10])

Standard Equipment: The Malice Stone (Has it in his pocket and it's as big as a cherry), many thin knives (Didn't run out of them during his few confrontations)

Intelligence: Gifted. Helped with his own abilities and handy super powers, he wandered from planet to planet stealing "countless" valuable treasures from others[11], which seem to require planned set ups by, most notably, his social skills, having once almost gotten Galaxia, the most renowned sword in the universe. Only suspected of having connection to several crimes he never leaved any evidence of[12], and would have been able to steal the royal recipe book of Chiffon Star should he had not been driven to desire the planet's throne by its princess and had derailed his plans to stay there longer, as well as because of the interference of Meta Knight & associates and their previous experience with Gallic, which in turn Gallic would have also been able to get away with if it wasn't for Daroach allying with Meta Knight. During his time in Chiffon Star, he had at least 2 hideouts while Princess Marona said that he had lots of them, to which he mentioned that his plans are always perfect and that he wouldn't shirk on preparation to get the treasure. Gallic doesn't mind being ruthless and murderous to get what he wants, having used his powers on plenty of warriors across different planets to keep them as his faithful lackeys, making them be willing to give their lives for him and commanding them to kill when needed to, Gallic himself is willing to kill under light pressure. Aimed to assassinate the king of a planet and take the trone for himself, denying the royal family the chance to turn over their status, leave the capital and live like a normal family in some village, claiming that his life would be in danger should he let the king live. While trying to manipulate a confused Meta Knight very close to being affected by his powers, Gallic claimed that they could join to steal treasures throughout the universe, that with his sword and his wits there was nothing there was nothing to be afraid, and that they "could even take over the universe". Of course, this could have been false to unknown degrees or exaggerated.

Weaknesses: The spell of his jewel is broken on a target when they are reminded of what they love. Kirby in particular takes no effect in it due to always thinking in foods which he loves, but this is notably him surrealistically always thinking unlike a normal person would ever come close to, and other more serious characters did not aim to face Gallic and counter his powers by always thinking in what they loved. Depending on one's "strength of heart"/if they have plenty of cherished memories and people, the effect of the stone wears off after it's used several times (if they get free from it and it's used again). Having lost his Malice Stone made him lose his composure, acting a bit less calculated and with more rage and hate for a while. Later when he regained the jewel he went into a state of fanaticism about it, something he always feels about the stone but never had context to show on others. After the Malice Stone was destroyed, Gallic gave up entirely and no longer was a threat to anyone, having cried with his voice raised like an infant and "lost even his own heart", all his strength and not saying anything, keeping this whim indefinitely.
