More weird corn maze signs to come!

Summary

Baldi is the math teacher of Here School. Despite his calm and encouraging attitude at first, his true colors become clear once the player (unavoidably) gets a question wrong on one of his quizzes, sending him on a wrathful chase for the student across the schoolhouse to punish them by beating them with a wooden ruler.

During later games (Baldi's Basics Plus and Baldi's Basics Classic Remastered), Baldi appears to be more of a whimsical character who treats the original game's twist as a way to make his time with the player more fun, even cheerfully considering the conflict as a game of hide-and-seek, and stopping mid-chase to compliment the player when they answer a math question correctly.

Powers and Stats

Tier: 9-B, possibly far higher by rare random chance

Name: Baldi, Professor Baldi, Baldimore

Origin: Baldi's Basics in Education and Learning

Gender: Male

Age: 29 years

Classification: Human Math Teacher

Powers and Abilities: Superhuman Physical Characteristics, Genius Intelligence, Breaking the Fourth Wall (Explains the controls to the player[1][2][3][4], presumably caused the spatial glitching during the ending of Baldi's Basics Plus[3], acknowledges that the Demo Style of Baldi's Basics Classic Remastered is a demo for Baldi's Basics Plus and even promotes the latter game at the end[4]), Enhanced Senses (Can hear whenever the player opens a door regardless of either's location in the school, stated to have incredible hearing abilities[1][2][3][4]), Extrasensory Perception (Can tell exactly who is opening a door, is only attracted to the player opening doors and not any of the other characters[1][2][3][4], can "hear bad math"[1][2][4]), Rage Power (His speed increases with his anger[1][2][3][4]), BFR (After hitting the player, Baldi sends them back to the title screen[1][2][4] or to the elevator if it isn't out of power tubes[3]), Sound Manipulation (Can cause any sound he makes to echo much further than it should, could distort his sounds and voice[1][2][4]), Spatial Manipulation (After the player collects all the notebooks, several exits turn into walls with maps of the school's layout on them as the player approaches them. During Baldi's Basics Birthday Bash, Baldi was shown to have done this in order to force the player into the cafeteria's exit in order to throw a surprise party for the player[1][2][4]. Presumably caused space to glitch during the ending of Baldi's Basics Plus[3]), Multilocation (During Baldi's Basics Plus, he is able to be present in front of his bus to bring the player on a field trip despite also playing his violent hide-and-seek inside the school[3] and during Baldi's Basics Classic Remastered, despite floating in the cafeteria as a result of a glitch, he can also be seen scared in a hidden room, as well as waiting for the player in the Principal's office so he can play a secret special song[4]), possibly minor Reality Warping (After the player has collected all the notebooks and gets blocked out of an exit, the entire school turns red. However, it's not entirely certain if Baldi causes this[1][2][4]), Weather Manipulation using the Fog Machine (Baldi can generate fog with it[3][4]), limited Gravity Manipulation (The Gravity Chaos random event is said to be caused by Baldi[3][4]), Portal Creation using a Portal Poster (This item's description in Johnny's Stores states that this super technology was invented by Baldi; a poster that creates a portal on the wall it is put on[3]). Resistance to Deconstruction (Can survive contact with a red Baldloon, which destroys objects it goes into contact with leaving nothing visible remaining[4])

Attack Potency: Wall level normally (Scales to 18,323 joules. He is able to harm the player, who can survive being slammed into walls at high speed by 1st Prize[1][2][4]), possibly far higher by rare random chance (When Baldi gives the player a game over, there is a rare chance for it to crash the game entirely, rather than send the player back to the title screen.[1][2][4] Considering how it was Null's intention to "destroy the game," and Null harming the player causes the school to go haywire with spatial glitches before forcefully closing the game,[4] this might imply that Baldi can accidentally destroy the game through his strength)

Speed: Superhuman at his peak (He can outspeed the player and move several meters instantly. If the player fails too many times, Baldi will move so fast that he can cover a whole room in a second.[1][2][3][4] Baldi can also maul an apple at a rate of 6 frames (0.1 seconds) per bite or about 3 frames (0.05 seconds) per movement. Said apple was eaten in 10 seconds[3][4], which is 3.81 times faster than the world record for apple-eating)

Lifting Strength: Average Human

Striking Strength: Unknown, likely Wall level (When Baldi's ruler gets broken, it is no longer dangerous for the player to make contact with him[3][4], but Baldi's Striking Strength should still be comparable to his Attack Potency)

Durability: Wall level (His durability scales to his strength, as not even his ruler breaks when harming the player[1][2][3][4])

Stamina: Athletic (He can chase the player and smack a ruler against his hand indefinitely with no sign of pain or fatigue[1][2][3][4]. He can continue to pursue the player even if the school is flooded)[3][4]

Range: Standard Melee Range physically, Extended Melee Range using his ruler, Hundreds of Meters using non-physical abilities

Standard Equipment: Ruler

  • Optional Equipment: Bear traps (sets these up in the Field Trip Minigame)[5], Fog Machine[3][4], Portal Poster[3], Apple

Intelligence: Genius (Baldi may be zany and has questionable methods, but he is a clear-sighted math teacher when he needs to be[4], so he has presumably acquired a Bachelor's degree. He is a capable perfectionist, and an inventor. Baldi invented a shrink machine as his "greatest invention yet", although it malfunctioned during its demonstration[4]. The description of the Portal Poster item in Johnny's Stores states that it is super technology invented by Baldi[3])

Standard Tactics: Baldi will chase his opponent down and attempt to flog them with his ruler. If he loses track of the opponent, he will use his enhanced hearing and extrasensory perception to track them down. As he grows angrier, his speed will increase. He starts at a slow pace that can easily be outrun, but at his peak, he is capable of superhuman speed. When Baldi hears a noise that interferes with his hearing, he will head to the source of the noise to investigate, unless he sees his opponent, in which case he will ignore it. At his angriest, Baldi will cause supernatural effects in an attempt to trick his opponent. Baldi uses spatial manipulation to turn exits into walls if his opponent is escaping,[1][2][4] or to cause his game to crash because of glitches after his game has been beaten.[3] If his ruler breaks, Baldi doesn't harm the opponent, but he still pursuits the opponent, because he will inexplicably get a new ruler after a few seconds.

Weaknesses: Baldi's Least Favorite Tape, or something which can cause loud noise such as Noise Phone, can disrupt his hearing. He is easily distracted by apples. He constantly smacks his ruler against his palm, producing noise that gives away his presence and allows the opponent to decipher his location (this can be negated if his ruler breaks). While his fog machine makes it harder for the opponent to see, the same applies to him (though his hearing remains the same, enabling him to still find the opponent)

Note: Baldi being able to phase through very specific objects such as the locked door to the Principal's office is a result of Game Mechanics, as Baldi does not phase through any objects that intentionally block his way, most notably a Swinging Door when the player locks it.[1][2][3][4]
