Attack on Titan

Summary

Their history mostly forgotten and assumed to be the last of humanity, the Eldian people have barricaded themselves within a walled city to keep themselves safe from the humanoid giant man-eaters called Titans.

A century passed and the false peace the people lived was shattered when two apparent Abnormal Titans smashed through the two outer walls, resulting in countless deaths. Among the survivors was a youth named Eren Yeager who dreamed to one day join the Survey Corps to see the outside world, and was consumed by hatred and revenge after his mother was devoured before his eyes.

Following a hazy final meeting with his father Grisha, Eren joined the Survey Corps while learning he can transform into a Titan. Eren and his allies soon find opposition both inside and outside while eventually learning the true origins of the Titans, as well as the advanced Marleyan civilization whom the Titan Shifters serve.

Power of the Verse

The strongest humans are superhuman in terms of stats and range from Wall level to City Block level with their speed ranging from Subsonic to Supersonic and their lifting strength ranging from Average Human to Class 1. Most Titans have no intelligence at all and many are simply mindless beasts. However, some Titans, mostly Titan Shifters, possess a vast level of intelligence comparable to or exceeding an experienced and cunning human. While the Female and Colossal Titans display intelligence, the Beast Titans was able to speak perfectly in their Titan form.

The most dangerous aspect of the Titans is their unpredictability. They do not follow a strict set of guidelines and have seemed to increase in abilities and attributes as the series goes on. Due to their size, Titans possess enough strength to collapse buildings and when combined with this lightness, they can put on amazing bursts of speed and agility. In addition to their size, speed, strength, and large numbers, Titans also possess incredible regenerative abilities - the only sure way to kill them is by slicing out the nape of the back of the neck. They regenerate lost and damaged body parts within seconds to minutes, most of the time severed heads as well, but it has been noted that there are rare times when the head will not regenerate. Titans can range from Wall level to City Block level+. Rod Reiss' Abnormal Titan is possibly Multi-City Block level while Armin's Colossal Titan's transformations can reach Large Town level+.

Attack on Titan's canon is slightly different from most manga series due to the anime being considered the primary canon. Hajime Isayama, the creator of Attack on Titan, directly oversaw the production of the anime, including constantly making direct changes to the script and storyboard as it was being made, as well as changing aspects of the story itself in ways that deviated from the manga. This was done as a means of retroactively fixing parts of the story he did poorly in the manga, including making changes to the ending to improve it in the anime. Isayama has even gone on record stating that the anime portrayals of the characters directly influenced the way the the story was written in the manga, and that he considers the anime the exact adaptation of the story he wanted to tell.

As such, the anime is to be considered the primary canon for feat and scaling purposes.
