That girl's freedom exists only after so many battles.
~ Asimov in the Anime

But... you will never... be able to... stop Adepts from uprising... with that... kind of power... you will either fight... against them... or alongside them... and sooner or later... you will be... caught up in the struggle... this is farewell... GV... I leave the... future of adepts... in your hands... good luck...
~ Asimov's final words to Gunvolt

With all of Sumeragi under my control, the world has finally moved closer to my ideal. But it took far too long. This peace was supposed to come on the day I was forced to kill our King and Queen — I had to wait and nurture a brand new lightning adept and Muse to take their place, you know? There's no point in hashing this out with you at this stage. We're just not capable of seeing eye-to-eye. So, there's just one thing left to do. A battle between the superhuman and the powerless — or should I say, Adept against Mino? That's how things are these days, is it not? Let's put it all on the line! This is our war by proxy!

BARK ALL YOU LIKE. THAT HUMAN FORM PROVES YOUR STUBBORN ADHERENCE TO THE OLD AGE. GAZE UPON ME! I HAVE ACHIEVED A PURE ELECTRONIC FORM! THIS IS THE ULTIMATE ACHIEVEMENT OF AN ADEPT WITH CONTROL OVER ELECTRICITY! I WILL PROTECT ALL ADEPTS MYSELF! AS "DEMERZEL". OVERSURGE, AZURE STRIKER... MY BLUE LIGHTNING SHALL BRING PURITY AND CLEANSE THIS WORLD OF ALL RELICS FROM THE OLD AGE!

Summary

Asimov was the child of two illegal immigrants. After being captured by Sumeragi, he was deemed fit for project Gunvolt. While the project was a success, he was unable to control his abilities and was deemed a failure. He was used as a lab rat for all sorts of tests. In one of these tests, he unleashed his power and accidentally killed Dr. Kamizono, Copen's father. In the confusion, he escaped the lab and eventually formed QUILL. He rescued a nameless child from Sumeragi, another lab rat of Project Gunvolt. This child was trained and raised, making them see Asimov as a father figure of sorts. This child was Gunvolt. Little did GV or many other members of QUILL know, his plan was to create a utopia for Adepts. Asimov nearly killed Copen and took his Power Grab before killing Joule and Gunvolt, forcing Joule to fuse her spirit with Gunvolt's for him to live. Gunvolt and Asimov then fought, Gunvolt eventually winning. He is only one of four known users of the Azure Striker Septima in the series, the others being the first adept, Gunvolt and Blade.

In Luminous Avenger iX, it's revealed the game takes place in an alternate timeline where Gunvolt remained dead and Asimov took over Sumeragi, changing it into the Sumeragi Institute for Human Evolution. Ruling from the shadows, he kidnapped the former user of The Muse, Mytyl, and used her to create the "Butterfly Effect" to empower adepts. He also kidnapped a mino girl and implanted the Azure Striker Septima into her. During this, he also powered up to the point of becoming made of pure electricity. He is eventually defeated by Copen, but he manages to incapacitate him before he gets killed, preparing to heal. He is finally killed by Kohaku, who had been called there by Lola, using Copen's gun. However, this may not have been the case, as it's lightly implied that the boss rush, where he returns even stronger, may be canon due to Demerzel's unique dialogue with Copen.

Powers and Stats

Tier: At least High 6-A, higher over time and at his peak, even higher with Skills | At least High 6-A, higher with Skills

Key: Asimov | Demerzel

Name: Asimov, formerly Takefutsu | Demerzel, formerly Asimov

Origin: Azure Striker Gunvolt

Gender: Male

Age: 24 | Over 124

Classification: Adept | Adept, electronic lifeform

Powers and Abilities:

All aforementioned abilities enhanced minus Elemental Intangibility as a Hologram

Attack Potency: Multi-Continent level (His Flashfield was able to match Gunvolt's when he was enhanced by Anthem, and is overall more powerful than Gunvolt. Destroyed the most important Sumeragi research facility at the time as a child.), higher over time and at his peak (As his body becomes more unstable over the many years, increases in might to be able to use enhanced versions of his previous attacks. Can fight Kirin who can put up a fight against Moebius-Gunvolt, as well as Gunvolt in Azure Striker Gunvolt 3), even higher with Skills (Voltaic Chains can instantly kill Gunvolt enhanced with Anthem. Septimal Surge increases his powers significantly.) | At least Multi-Continent level (Stated that he's reached the peak for an electricity user, far more powerful than his previous self.)

Speed: Relativistic+ travel speed with FTL+ combat speed and reactions (Can consistently keep up with Gunvolt, even when restricted, which would make him this fast. Should be comparable to Viper, who was stated by Jota to fight at lightspeed. Can fight and is possibly superior to Kirin) | Practically Immobile (Is effectively limited by three containers which cannot move) with FTL+ combat speeds (Fought iX. His holograms should be comparable to his previous self)

Lifting Strength: Class M, possibly Class P (stronger that Gunvolt, who can escape Milas's Vortex Rushes. Comparable to an Anthem'd Gunvolt and Gunvolt in ASG3), possibly Class P with Magnetism Manipulation and over time (Comparable to Gunvolt while under the effects of Anthem, who lifted the giant futuristic Sumeragi Airship known as Seraph. Can tangle Kirin and Gunvolt in his Voltaic Chains)

Striking Strength: Likely at least Multi-Continent level | At least Multi-Continent level as a hologram. None for his true form (Is made of pure electricity and is restricted to three containers)

Durability: At least Multi-Continent level (Able to take hits from Gunvolt under Anthem. Seemingly never had problems with any enemies prior to fighting Gunvolt), Prevasion makes him very difficult to kill | Unknown by himself (Is practically impossible to attack without breaking his containers, which would kill him anyways). His containers and holograms are at least Multi-Continent level

Stamina: Above Average. Should be comparable to other high-tier Adepts | Nearly Limitless (Is made of pure energy and has commanded Sumeragi disguising as an A.I. for over a century. However, he did state that he needed to sleep after his fight with Copen almost killed him)

Range: Standard Melee Range. Hundreds of Meters to Kilometers (5 km) with his firearms and EATR. | Same as before, Hundreds of Meters with Septima and Holograms (Can summon holograms of previous bosses, as well as his own humanoid form from far distances in Sumeragi Secret Bunker), Planetary with Technology Manipulation (Summoned Lola Tanks across the world as his final act to end all of Minos existence)

Standard Equipment: EATR, an anti-tank sniper rifle. A long swing handgun he used against Copen, used as such. Sunglasses that restrict his Septima. Copen's Border, a gun that fires bullets that he can change the path of with his Septima. Likely possesses QUILL weapons such as Grenades, Knives, Orochi bolts, and Chaser Drones | Containers, Hologram possesses QUILL weapons such as Grenades, EATR, Knives, Orochi bolts, Chaser Drones, and possesses Border

Intelligence: Genius (Ran QUILL ever since its inception as one of its founders without most of the group or any outside groups knowing of his ulterior motives. Taught Gunvolt everything he knows about combat, and is his combat instructor. Asimov is QUILL's top fighter, which includes Gunvolt when the statement was made[27]. Seized information from previous field reports by Gunvolt and using it make a plan to be unaffected Copen's Gorgon Gaze at a moments notice despite never seeing the attack in person himself, he also destroyed Copen's EX Gear- recognizing it as the source of Copen's EX Weapons[28]. Using information he had gained from wiretapping Sumeragi and Eden, he managed to create a plan to take advantage of the situation and get Zeno and Moniqa inside the forcefield protected country[29]. Using EATR requires demanding calculations that only the most advanced snipers possess[30], and Asimov managed to use it to such effectiveness to where he can one shot multiple moving Mantis Tanks consecutively, which can only be reliably destroyed by targeting its core located inside its armor- which normally takes a two step process of damaging its outer body first. Asimov managed to do this mid-conversation, marking how many he had destroyed live, in a timeframe of two words of a fluent and casual sentence. Is a situational fighter and uses weapons only when they are proven to be effective in the circumstances, such as not wasting his time using EATR against Gunvolt in Azure Striker Gunvolt as it is not suited to anti-personnel combat, nor would any weapon but his Border be effective against Gunvolt's Anthem. Uses his gadgets in tactical manners such as his drones to cover space in the air while he controls the ground with his Flashfield- or using his grenade's explosions to block Kirin's Talismans to prevent her from teleporting past his Flash Dart. Upon first using Border's Greed Snatcher, was able to instantly use it in unique ways that its previous owner could not by manipulating its magnetic properties to have it fire in different trajectories without proper practice beforehand just after taking ownership of the weapon- his mastery over it improves as time progress and as he ages, despite growing more and more unstable. He has only gained more combat experience throughout the decades in the Luminous Avenger iX Timeline) | Extraordinary Genius (Became one with Sumeragi's Supercomputer, meaning that he is comparable to it in terms of knowledge. However, this is dampened by his insanity.)

Standard Tactics: Will likely start with Greed Snatcher first if available, otherwise uses his various weapons to create an opening to use his Flashfield. At long ranges, typically sticks to his EATR to snipe from a distance. Should Greed Snatcher hit, he immediately stops what he's doing to take advantage of it with a large attack. With Septimal Surge, constantly teleports while spamming his SP Skills. | Starts with Astrasphere Mandala, or electrocutes his containers

Weaknesses: Lacks full control over his berserk Septima due to it's might, and requires his glasses to suppress it. If he overexerts his Septima, he'll overheat and be vulnerable to attack. Likely shares Gunvolt's weaknesses. His life as an organic lifeform succumbs to his Azure Striker over long amounts of time. | His Septima is likely more berserk than ever before. His mind being made of electricity has caused him to go insane over time. If his containers are destroyed, he will die.

Notable Attacks/Techniques:

The first somewhat successful subject of Project: Gunvolt, Asimov, known as Takefutsu at the time, had been subject to horrific experiments over and over to test his Septima. Unlike the true success, Gunvolt, Asimov was unable to control this incredible Septima properly. However, his Septima, Azure Striker, was extraordinarily more powerful than the younger successor. This power was so uncontrollable that the moment the experiments began one day, he let loose a massive blast of lightning, and an entire Sumeragi Futuristic Institute of Technology (S-FIT) facility was eradicated in an instant. Equipped with this newfound power, Asimov founded QUILL, with darker intentions in mind. Physical augmentations, lightning attacks, and most importantly, the ability to control technology, Asimov praised the Azure Striker to the be the ultimate Septima for all purposes. More experienced with the Septima than Gunvolt, he would grow in power if not stopped.

And that chance to grow would come as he killed the king and queen pieces of his final plan. His power grew ever lastingly as "Demerzel" over a hundred years, his body converting from flesh to one of pure electricity, lightning incarnate, the ultimate achievement for an Azure Striker, able to control the entire world and its technology with his power.

Asimov makes use of the weapons he often fights with at QUILL. It should be noted that in Luminous Avenger iX, the humanoid Asimov is a "hologram with mass" created by his real self, however, it reflects the fighting style of his previous humanoid self, and as such, the Asimov in Azure Striker Gunvolt should have the same capabilities.

  • Flashfield: An Azure Striker's signature attack, Asimov's Flashfield is different from Gunvolt's, who utilizes it from a range when combined with his Bolts. Since his Flashfield is more powerful than the true Azure Striker, he utilizes it by charging straight ahead at his enemies. This attack is as powerful as Gunvolt's when the latter was powered by Anthem, overheating both Azure Strikers. Asimov can also upgrade the attack into Astrasphere Flashfield with a bit more charge time.
  • Prevasion: Similar to Gunvolt, Asimov also has the ability of Prevasion. And unlike Gunvolt, it seems like Asimov's Prevasion has much less limiations, as it has never been shown to have a limit to how many times it can activate. However, like Gunvolt, Asimov still runs on a similar source of power to his EP, proven when they collide Flashfields and thus overheating Asimov. Regardless, Prevasion's ability to transform the user into electricity essentially renders them invincible, especially when combined with Asimov's lack of a limit to its use.

  • Lightning Sweep: Asimov can send electricity through the ground and direct its flow as an attack. As the battle goes on, the wave of electricity will constantly sweep the ground, forcing enemies to stay airborne.

  • Border: A weapon stolen by Copen, his father being the very person who he had killed back at S-FIT. The weapon fires Greed Snatcher bullets, which disable Septima for extended periods of time, erasing the effects and phenomenon created by them[31], and can even cause significant damage to Asimov himself when at peak condition as well as instantly kill immortal and intangible opponents. Greed Snatcher bullets and their effects last approximately 10 seconds in game, but that is a very long time in the middle of a battle. However, Asimov's Septima allows him to control the Greed Snatcher bullets to mimic various Bolts in Gunvolt's arsenal, though this puts a strain on the weapon itself. Once an opponent is hit, Asimov attacks the helpless enemy with his Flashfield or other electrical attacks. Asimov can also control the trajectory of these magnetic shots with his Azure Striker's dominion over electromagnetism.
    • Cerberus: Asimov fires two waves of Greed Snatcher
    • Mizuchi: Five shots that home in on their intended target, using rebound points similar Gunvolt's own Mizuchi.
      • Mizuchi Rebound: Rebound points are positioned behind opponents before being shot at by Asimov- allowing for "boomerang" type attacks.
    • Orochi: A drone identical to Gunvolt's is fired along with a shot, firing waves of Greed Snatcher in all directions.
      • Cerberochi Wave: Combines Cerberus and Orochi into one, firing simultaneously
    • Charge Shot - Thunder: Seeing as there was no reason to use the Greed Snatcher on Copen, Asimov instead utilizes electricity with the weapon to build up a large charge shot, before striking his opposition down with lightning shortly afterwards.
  • E.A.T.R.: Asimov's favored sniper during his time at QUILL. A brother to Gunvolt's Dart Leader, it is a long range railgun with a maximum effective range of five kilometers, and the bullets it fires move at seven kilometers per second when not enhanced with his Septima. It's shown to obliterate two Sumeragi Mantis Tank units in succession with ease, likely from a single shot, each, where as Gunvolt had to take more time and use his Septima to defeat one. When combined with his Septima, it becomes especially more powerful.
AsimovEATR

EATR used in anti-personal combat

  • Throwing: In his time at QUILL, Asimov has utilized many gadgets to fight the forces of Sumeragi, and utilizes them in anti-personal combat.
    • Knives: He has skill in throwing knives, able to throw two at the same time at widely different angles.
    • Grenades: As expected from an organization with weaponry, grenades are part of QUILL's arsenals, and thus, Asimov's
    • Mizuchi: Drones which are thrown that chase a designated target, Asimov combines this often with the Flashfield.
    • Orochi: Drones which suspend themselves in the air before firing a slow moving spread shot to control space.
  • Flash Dart: Throwing Grenades to cover attempts to attack him before using this attack with projectiles, Asimov launches an attack identical to Berserk Gunvolt's Flash Dart to attack with a homing Lock-On Striker of his own.
  • Voltaic Judgement: Asimov throws Mizuchi drones into the air and he charges the ground with electricity. If these spheres are not destroyed in a short time, Asimov is instantly trap the target in a network of Voltaic Chains charge them with full power, along with a mighty Crashbolt. If an opponent is at a certain amount of health- Asimov can use Voltaic Buster, identical to Gunvolt's in every way, except enhanced with chains that bind foes and act as walls to deal extra damage to the foe, not that it was necassary.

Azure gospel spreads abound
Mine cry, branding since antiquity
Creation and destruction, lightning descends
Septimal Surge!

~ Septimal Surge's Haiku

Septimal Surge is an ability where Asimov enhances his capabilities to their limit, increasing his damage and giving him access to new attacks and abilities

  • Flight: Asimov is now capable of unlimited flight.
  • Teleportation: Asimov can now teleport throughout the battlefield at any time.
  • Astrasphere Typhoon: Asimov creates three Astrasphere before using "Mandela" on them, having each of the Astraspheres spiraling around him in a massive area of effect attack- before then launching them as large projectiles multiple times.
  • Luxcalibur Stringer: Asimov conjures four Luxcaliburs while dashing across the field, before using "Launcher", sending the large disc of lightning blades at the enemy, like a boomerang back and forth.

The ultimate achievement for a lightning adept, to have the form of electricity itself, and being lightning incarnate. Asimov, now known as "Demerzel" in the world of Luminous Avenger iX, has become the dictator of the world. His power reflects that, utilizing some of the Azure Striker's most powerful abilities as his main forms of attack repeatedly.

  • Prevasion (Heat Haze) Shift: Asimov can instantly teleport between his jars, using a similar technique to "Prevasion"
AsimovTeleport

Asimov switching containers at will

  • Astra Mandala: Creating a miniature Astrasphere, Asimov fires it at his opponents postion before commanding the orbs to spiral outwards in the off chance that they manage to dodge.

  • Thunder Pulser: Asimov electrifies the containers he isn't occupying.

  • Gaia Voltage Omega: Calls down lightning from up above despite being underground to strike down the opponent, this attack defeated Copen at their end of their battle.

  • Triade Caliber: While it took Gunvolt a significant amount of power to unleash a single Luxcaliber as his ultimate attack (as shown in his own boss battle), Asimov can unleash three at the same time and wield them more casually.
AsimovLux

Triple Luxcaliber

Asimov's skills are variations of Voltaic Chains, debatably the most powerful skill in an Azure Striker's arsenal. He has three variations.

Voltaic Chains: He summons chains from his legroom to entangle an opposition, or more preferably, crisscross the entire vicinity with many, many chains before electrocuting them with all his might. It can also be controlled, able to disarm Copen from his Border, before wrapping around to entangle his body to guarentee electrocution. This attack is enough to defeat Gunvolt powered by Anthem in one shot in most scenarios, and is superior to his own Voltaic Chains in power.

Voltaic Chains Mk. III: A spammable variant of Voltaic Chains that Asimov incorporates into his standard attacks without any repurcussion. These chains are instead laid out in a tactical pattern designed to corner the enemy into a position where it is impossible to dodge the attacks later stages- finishing it off with a massive Crashbolt.
