Summary
Asaba Harumasa (淺羽悠真) is a playable Agent in Zenless Zone Zero, and the Executive Officer of Hollow Special Operations Section 6.
Since his very early childhood, he was diagnosed with Ether Aptitude Regression Syndrome, a life-threatening condition that currently has no cure and affects his lungs and heart. He was taken to a hospital by his parents at a young age before being abandoned by them, leaving the hospital as his only home. Soon after this, he would meet a man who he calls his "Master", who took care of him and taught him archery, swordsmanship and how to survive with his condition. Harumasa's "Master" would later gift his yellow headband to a young Harumasa before disappearing.[1]
After the Argos Hollow incident, his honesty and sense of justice caught the attention of none other than Hoshimi Miyabi, who transferred him — alongside Tsukishiro Yanagi — to the newly formed Hollow Special Operations Section 6, where he continues to operate in to this day.[2]
Powers and Stats
Tier: At least 8-C, likely higher
Name: Asaba Harumasa, "Harumasamasa" (by his fans.[3])
Origin: Zenless Zone Zero
Gender: Male
Age: Likely Early 20s
Classification: Human, Executive Officer, Member of Hollow Special Operations: Section 6.
Powers and Abilities:
- Superhuman Physical Characteristics
- Weapon Mastery (Was taught archery and swordsmanship at a young age, making him naturally proficient with bows and swords.[1])
- Social Influencing (Social Position and Reputation; As Executive Officer of the Hollow Special Operations: Section 6 Division, Harumasa and his peers are held in high regard and have been shown to be extremely popular and respected.[3])
- Possible Statistics Amplification (All Agents are theoretically capable of using Vital View, where perception and speed are heightened to a point where comparable enemies move incredibly slow, granting them time to counterattack while enemies are frozen in speed from their perspective.[4])
- Electricity Manipulation (via Cloud Piercer, Hiten no Tsuru - Slash, Hidden Edge, Nowhere to Hide, Nowhere to Run & Zanshin)
- Status Effect Inducement (When Harumasa deals enough Electric DMG, he applies Shock to enemies, an anomaly effect that causes the target to intermittently suffer additional Electric DMG when attacked for a period of time. Inflicting Shock on enemies weak to Electric DMG can also interrupt their actions)
- Limited Damage Boost (Harumasa's Mindscape Cinema 02: Languish - When using either a Chain Attack or Ultimate, Harumasa gains up to 7 Electro Blitz stacks, with each stack increasing the DMG of Hiten no Tsuru - Slash up to 50%. His Core Passive: Day Break increases his CRIT Rate and grants Harumasa 1 stack of Gleaming Edge every time he triggers a critical hit, with each stack increasing the CRIT DMG of Hiten no Tsuru - Slash up to a maximum of 12%. His signature W-Engine, Zanshin Herb Case, increases his CRIT Rate by 10% and his Dash Attack Electric DMG by 40%)
- Limited Statistics Amplification & Damage Reduction (When in his Awakened state, his resistance to interruption increases and the DMG taken is reduced by 40%)
- Limited Resistance Negation (Harumasa's Mindscape Cinema 06: Tacit Understanding - After Ha-Oto no Ya hits any stunned target or enemies under Attribute Anomalies, Harumasa will ignore 15% of the target's Electric RES for 12s)
- Resistance to:
- Corruption (Type 1; While his condition has life-threatening symptoms, it also gives Harumasa an exceptional Ether Aptitude, allowing him to move and fight within the Hollows. Prolonged exposure to a Hollow can result in Ether Corruption, which can turn both inorganic and organic beings into Ethereals. It is noted Ether strikes faster and more intensely on beings with "souls", such as humans and thirens as well as machines who have passed the forbidden fruit test, a test to determine if an AI construct is self aware.[5])
Attack Potency: At least Building level, likely higher (Despite having overexerted himself and thus, due to his condition, rapidly losing most of his strength and suffering from several other drawbacks, he was still capable of singlehandedly defeating his Master after the latter had transformed into a Thracian.[1] Managed to push back Bringer alongside his peers and, while inferior, all of them could partially keep up against him in his stronger state until the arrival of Miyabi;[6] as a sacrifice, Bringer should be at least comparable to the Heretic Jester sacrifice, which is this strong.[Statistic Value 1] Fought the Nineveh ethereal alongside Yanagi.[7] His strength was complimented by his peer and "Void Hunter" chief, Hoshimi Miyabi, stating that she chose him over other candidates due to his strength, despite being aware of his health issues.[1] Additionally, Miyabi states that, even without having seen him go all out, Harumasa would be a difficult opponent for her, and would not want him as her enemy.[8] Should not be any weaker than other factions capable of fighting against boss ethereals like the Dead End Butcher, such as the Cunning Hares.[Statistic Value 2])
Speed: At least Supersonic (As a core member of the Section 6, Harumasa should be at least comparable to other factions such as the Cunning Hares, or officers like Qingyi. Even in an extremely exhausted and weakened state, being almost at the brink of death, Harumasa still managed to keep up against a Thracian.[1] Can close distances in an instant.[9]), possibly higher via Vital View
Lifting Strength: Unknown, possibly Class 100 (Should be comparable to other agents who can parry attacks from ethereals such as the Dead End Butcher.[Statistic Value 3])
Striking Strength: At least Building level, likely higher
Durability: At least Building level, likely higher (Comparable to his AP. Alongside his peers, he withstood multiple blasts and lasers nearby from Bringer.[6][Statistic Value 1])
Stamina: Superhuman (Can move and fight within Hollows for a prolonged amount of time. Despite worsening his condition by overexerting himself, to a point where he's constantly coughing, losing his strength or having a trembling body, among other effects, he was still capable of fighting and defeating a Thracian entirely on his own.[1] During the Section 6's fight against Bringer, Harumasa continued fighting against the latter, even after he started to show the symptoms of his condition prior to Miyabi's arrival, and him feeling tired from the battle.[6])
Range: Standard Melee Range, up to Hundreds of Meters (Assembled into a bow,[10] Harumasa wields two blades that allow him to shoot[6] long ranged[1] attacks,[11] and can dismantle this bow at will[12] to strike against any targets at high speeds with the two blades.[9])
Standard Equipment: His custom made weapon, "Double-Bladed Compound Bow: Dormant Tide" (双曲刃复合弓: 眠花暗水), and his signature W-Engine: "Zanshin Herb Case" (殘心青囊)
Intelligence: Gifted (Despite being known[13][14][15] as someone[3] lazy[1] and calling himself frail[16] and weak,[17] Harumasa has shown to be far more capable in combat and more knowledgeable than he lets on. Dubbed a prodigy at a young age, Harumasa was taught archery and swordsmanship by his "Master,"[1] before later enrolling at the Public Security Training Academy, where he's stated to have graduated with "outstanding merit".[18] Sometime later, he joined H.A.N.D., where he swiftly climbed up the ranks and became an Executive Officer. Harumasa is also skilled in combat, and using what his Master taught him and his own experiences, he's proven himself to be quite formidable, as even when suffering the various effects caused by his illness, he's still able to keep up against threats such as Bringer,[6] or be able to defeat ethereals such as Thracians on his own.[1])
Weaknesses: Can't fight for long due to his condition; if he overexerts himself, he'll start suffering from blurry vision, constant coughing, trembling body, loss of strength and, among other effects, may even die or turn into an Ethereal if he continues to push himself further.
