Megadimension Neptunia VII OST - A Whirlpool of Insanity ~the end of world~
Summary
Arfoire, also called Magiquone (マジェコンヌ, Majekon'nu) in the Japanese version, is a recurring antagonist in the Hyperdimension Neptunia series. She is also known as the Deity of Sin.
Arfoire is the personification of piracy and illegal game copying. Her English name is based on a Nintendo DS homebrew chip of the same pronunciation, the R4 chip, whilst her Japanese name is based on dubiously legal game backup devices called "magicoms" (マジコン, "magic computer") in Japan.
In the Hyper Dimension, the Deity of Sin's worshippers, called the "Arfoire Syndicate of International Crime" or "ASIC" for short, attacked Gamindustri and began to make the citizens put their beliefs towards Deity of Sin in order to revive the fallen being.[1] Slowly and surely, the Deity of Sin was being revived, and eventually, a fraction of its essence began to surface.
Said fraction of the Deity of Sin ended up possessing Warechu, but was soundly defeated by the main cast, and abandoned the vessel. During Chapter 6, the Deity of Sin's new vessel is revealed; a large, spider-like creature with a grotesque appearance. It is said to be a mass of pure, concentrated evil that must be defeated. The main cast defeats the spider-like vessel, in which it reveals its true form, an incorporeal essence of negative emotions and desires. The Deity of Sin then begins its process of fusing with the Gamindustri Graveyard.[2]
To stall for time, the Deity of Sin revives the Four Felons and has them attack the nations of Gamindustri, giving the Goddesses an ultimatum to surrender or be taken over. However, thanks to the efforts of the characters, the Four Felons are defeated and they all head to the Gamindustri Graveyard to face the Deity of Sin one last time.[3] It is then that the Deity of Sin's second vessel is revealed; a bunny-like divine being, noted to be much smaller than the previous vessel, but much more powerful as well. Despite being defeated, the Deity of Sin planned on taking everyone down with it by allowing the Gamindustri Graveyard to crumble.[4]
In the end, the combined Shares of everyone in Gamindustri was poured into Nepgear, and the Deity of Sin was defeated. The Gamindustri Graveyard collapsed into the sea, and Arfoire was no more.In the Zero Dimension, Arfoire reappears despite having been defeated in the Hyper Dimension and supposedly reformed in the Ultra Dimension. Her goal is to wreak havoc in Zero Dimension, and to follow orders given to her by Kurome.[5] She first appears when Neptune, Nepgear, and Uzume are about to fight against Dark Purple, and she destroys the Share Crystal that they were going to use to create a Sharing Field. However, the faith of the monsters that were put towards the three of them allowed the Sharing Field to be created, giving them a chance to face off against Dark Purple. When Dark Purple was defeated, Arfoire retreated.
Arfoire then appears again to fight Nepgear and Uzume, which is then where she reveals her Deity of Sin form. Arfoire was on the verge of defeating the pair, when a bigger Neptune drops in and helps the two defeat Arfoire, who is then sealed inside the Nep-Note. Time passes before Arfoire breaks out of the Nep-Note and flees to the Smash Box Stadium, where she lures the group into a trap. She then uses her True Deity of Sin form to attempt to take down the group, but again, fails. She then takes the power of an ancient Ultra Dimension Goddess from Croire to summon Dark Purple, which causes the group to retreat. Being driven crazy by the power, Arfoire fuses with Dark Purple and fights the two Neptunes, Nepgear, and Uzume in the final battle of the first arc of Megadimension Neptunia VII, where she is defeated.[6]
Arfoire is seen again in the second arc of VII, but has a minor role, only having some form of importance when she attacks IF in the Sakura Tree Row. Just as Arfoire was about to finish her off, Neptune comes in and saves IF. The two fight against Arfoire together and defeat her, forcing her to retreat. She appears in the Leanbox Route of the second arc as well, but only as part of a cutscene.[7]
It isn't until the third arc where she is seen yet again. Ordered by Kurome, she was to kill the Ultra Dimension Neptune. After putting her on the run, Arfoire has Neptune cornered until Nepgear, Uni, and Uzume appear to help her. Arfoire goes full power from the start and transforms into her True Deity of Sin form and fights against the group for the last time before she is defeated and disappears. Arfoire is not fought again for the rest of the game after that.[8]
It's revealed later that Zero Dimension Arfoire was just a recreation of Hyper Dimension Arfoire from Kurome's memories, albeit with a Base Form that was never shown off by Hyper Dimension Arfoire.[8]Powers and Stats

Name: Arfoire, Magiquone in the Japanese version, the Deity of Sin; called various provocative nicknames such as "Arbore" or "Arsnore" by Neptune
Origin: Hyperdimension Neptunia
Gender: Female
Age: Unknown, presumably hundreds of years old in Hyper Dimension (Arfoire is considered one of the oldest beings in Gamindustri)
Classification: Deity of Sin
Powers and Abilities:
- Superhuman Physical Characteristics
- Transformation (Zero Dimension Arfoire is capable of transforming into either its Deity of Sin form, or True Deity of Sin form[6])
- Magic
- Flight
- Immortality (Types 1, 4, and 8 - Zero Dimension Arfoire is a creation from Kurome's memories, and she can simply be recreated by Kurome whenever she is defeated[8])
- Acausality (Type 1 - her memories were unaffected by the rewriting of Gamindustri's history, and even a few normal citizens remained unaffected[7])
- Summoning (Summoned Dark Purple to the Jingu Sakura Park to fight against Uzume and the Nep sisters. After obtaining Rei Kiseijou's powers, Arfoire summoned Dark Purple to the Smash Box Stadium[6])
- Fusionism (Fused with Incomplete Dark Purple[6])
- Life Manipulation via Magic (By using magic, Arfoire was able to make multiple eggplants come to life to attack Neptune[9])
- Barrier Creation (Created a barrier to prevent Uzume and Neptune from interfering with the acquirement of Rei Kiseijou's powers[6])
All previous abilities in addition to the abilities granted from Rei Kiseijou's powers
Resistance to:
- Existence Erasure and Space-Time Manipulation (Similar to the VII cast, who were able to take attacks from the Dark Goddesses and remained unaffected by them[5])
- Memory Manipulation (Shouldn't be any different than the characters in the Megadimension Neptunia VII, as they were unaffected by Affimojas' sword gem, which Blanc described as a reason for why the changes in the world occurred, which would include the sudden memory loss from a majority of the citizens[7])
- Elemental Manipulation (Battled against the main cast, many of whom possess attacks based on Fire, Ice, Wind, Lightning, Light, and Darkness, and remained largely unaffected)
- Extreme Heat (Withstood attacks from Nepgear's swords, which have been noted to be extremely hot and made of lasers. Can easily withstand attacks from Virtual Blaze, whose description states that when it releases sound, the area flickers like a heat haze[6][8])
- Vibration Manipulation and Durability Negation (Virtually unaffected by attacks from Ultra Dimension Neptune's Resonance Blades, which are stated to vibrate at an atomic level, and slice through things by literally breaking atoms down[6][8])
All Base Form abilities on an enhanced scale sans Immortality (Types 4 and 8), Summoning and Fusionism, but gains:
- Corruption (Type 2 with monsters - monsters are vulnerable to the Deity of Sin’s influence, and when they are tainted by it, they evolve into a more vicious form called “viral”. They are far stronger after the transformation[10])
- Possession and Immortality (Types 1 and 6 - Stated that it is not limited by neither time nor a physical body.[11] The Deity of Sin is a being without a true physical form[3] and requires vessels[2] in order to operate with success,[4] even going as far as invading other peoples' bodies to do so.[12] The Four Felons were created to serve as the Deity of Sin's vessels for the world[12])
- Size Manipulation when inhabiting a vessel (Upon entering Warechu's body, the vessel itself grew to large proportions[12])
- Environmental Destruction (Its presence during its process and completion of revival was causing earthquakes originating from the Gamindustri Graveyard that reached as far away as Planeptune.[12] Its defeat was causing the Gamindustri Graveyard to crumble[4])
- Creation (Created the Four Felons[12])
- Resurrection (Resurrected the Four Felons[3])
- Incorporeality and Abstract Existence in its "true state" (Type 1 - Thoughts and Emotions - The Deity of Sin's "true form" is an essence and an amalgamation of negative emotions and desires that cannot be physically interacted with unless someone possesses a will that overpowers hers in strength,[3] which was shown to occur when Nepgear defeated it at the end of Re;Birth 2[4])
- Virus Infliction (With Viral Attack, the Deity of Sin can inflict the Virus status, which presents transformations[1])
- Poison Manipulation (With Destroy Guide, the Deity of Sin can inflict the Poison status[1])
All Base Form resistances in addition to Resistance to:
- Deconstruction (Can resist attacks from Blanc's "The Mediator" weapon, which is stated to ruthlessly atomize anyone, enemy or ally[2][4])
- More Existence Erasure (Can resist attacks from Vert's Trishula, which is stated to make all matter become formless when pierced by it[2][4])
- More Extreme Heat (Can also withstand attacks from MarvelousAQL's "Kaen" weapon, which is noted to glow crimson because of how hot it is, which would make its temperature at least 460 °C. Can resist being turned into plasma by 5pb.'s Plasma Oven attack, whose description states that it would turn the enemy into "hot, dense, pressurized plasma"[2][4])
- Status Effect Inducement (The Deity of Sin can't be inflicted with any status effects, which include Paralysis, Poison, and Apathy[2][4])
- Absolute Zero (Able to withstand Ram's Absolute Zero attack, which is stated verbatim to have the "chill of Absolute Zero"[2][4])
All Base Form abilities on an enhanced scale plus Hyper Dimension DoS abilities sans the abilities granted by its "true form", which include: Possession, Immortality (Type 6), Size Manipulation, Environmental Destruction, and Incorporeality and Abstract Existence (Type 1)
All Base Form resistances on an enhanced scale in addition to Hyper Dimension DoS resistances
All Hyper Dimension DoS abilities on an enhanced scale in addition to Paralysis Inducement and Apathy Infliction (With Finale Guide, the True Deity of Sin can inflict the Poison, Paralysis, Apathy, and Virus statuses[4])
All Zero Dimension DoS abilities on an enhanced scale plus Hyper Dimension TDoS abilties
Attack Potency: Universe level+, possibly Complex Multiverse level (A small fraction of its essence was noted to be very powerful by Uni.[12] Even in an incomplete vessel, it took the entire party of Re;Birth 2 in order to be defeated.[2] In the Conquest and Holy Sword Routes, the Deity of Sin was too powerful for the cast to stop on their own, requiring the use of their respective blades - Gehaburn[11] and the Share Blade[13] - to defeat it. Stronger than the Four Felons due to them being created from her own power) | At least Universe level+, possibly Complex Multiverse level (Stronger than before due to possessing a stronger, more capable vessel. The True Deity of Sin form is described to be the totality of the Deity of Sin's absorbed power at the time, once again requiring the entire party of Re;Birth 2 to defeat it[4]) | Low Multiverse level (Was able to fight against Purple Sister and Orange Heart using only half of her power[6]), higher with Rei's Powers (After absorbing the powers of Rei Kiseijou, Arfoire was able to casually fatally injure Uzume, forcing the group to flee[6]), possibly Complex Multiverse level | Low Multiverse level, possibly Complex Multiverse level (Was able to effortlessly put Purple Sister and Orange Heart in extreme danger after transforming[6]) | Low Multiverse level, possibly Complex Multiverse level (Stronger than her previous form, exhausting Purple Sister, Orange Heart, and Ultra Dimension Neptune after their fight[6])
Speed: FTL combat speed (Faster than the Four Felons) | FTL combat speed (Faster than before) | FTL combat speed (Can keep up with Purple Sister and Orange Heart using only half of her power), higher with Rei's Powers | FTL combat speed (Faster than in her Base Form) | FTL combat speed (Faster than her Deity of Sin form)
Lifting Strength: At least Class 5 (More powerful than CFW Magic) | At least Class 5, likely higher (More powerful than its previous vessel) | Class 25 (As strong as Purple Sister and Orange Heart whilst using only half of her strength), higher with Rei's Powers | Class 25 (More powerful than her Base Form; easily took on Purple Sister and Orange Heart) | Class 25, likely higher (More powerful than her Deity of Sin Form)
Striking Strength: Universe level+, possibly Complex Multiverse level | At least Universe level+, possibly Complex Multiverse level | Low Multiverse level, possibly Complex Multiverse level | Low Multiverse level, higher with Rei's Powers possibly Complex Multiverse level | Low Multiverse level, possibly Complex Multiverse level
Durability: Universe level+, possibly Complex Multiverse level (Needed to be taken down by the entire party of Re;Birth 2, and is superior to CFW Magic. In the Conquest and Holy Sword Routes, the Deity of Sin was unable to be fazed[11] by the combined effort of the party's attacks[13]) | At least Universe level+, possibly Complex Multiverse level (Stronger than before) | Low Multiverse level (Took hits from Purple Sister and Orange Heart without sustaining much damage while using half of her power), higher with Rei's Powers, possibly Complex Multiverse level | Low Multiverse level, possibly Complex Multiverse level (Stronger than her Base Form) | Low Multiverse level, possibly Complex Multiverse level (Stronger than her Deity of Sin Form)
Stamina: Superhuman
Range: Extended Melee Range with her spear, up to Hundreds of Kilometers with her Magic | Extended Melee Range normally, up to Hundreds of Kilometers with her Magic and Environmental Destruction
Standard Equipment: Spear
Intelligence: Above Average (Despite having some moments of incompetence, Arfoire is a rather cunning individual. In Arc 1, she knew that the group would be attracted by the power of a Share Crystal and used it to lure them into a trap with Croire's help.[6] Deceived S-Sha into believing that E-Sha's soul was going to extinguish, leading to S-Sha trying to initiate a ritual to save her, despite E-Sha saying otherwise, with Vert noting that deception is a tactic Arfoire is too familiar with[14])
Weaknesses: Her true essence can be harmed if the opponent has a will that overpowers her own. Requires vessels to operate
