You're the one I've been looking for! It's payback time for Tom!
~ Alex to Gill[1]

Okay. Let's rumble
~ Alex[2]

Summary

Alex is a playable character in the Street Fighter series, and the protagonist of the Street Fighter III games. He is a professional wrestler who lives day-by-day out of his trailer house in New York, which he never left and has no interest in doing so. His day is spent between construction jobs, wrestling events and training. Tom, Alex's mentor and a friend of his father, is worried about him, as he always keeps his emotions in check, isn't very talkative and lacks sensitivity, which makes it seem he lacks a true purpose in his life, although things apparently started to change after his meeting with Dhalsim.

Despite his reserved attitude, Alex is kind-hearted and possesses a strong sense of justice. Such traits manifested the day Tom was badly beaten by a mysterious fighter, which pushed Alex to enter the fourth World Tournament and claim revenge for his friend, even though he was being told by Tom himself that he had been defeated in a fair fight. It is unknown how the things truly went from that point, but after the tournament Alex returned home, and his rage subsided once he noticed Tom had fully recovered. The true achievement of his journey was the newly rediscovered joy of fighting, especially against worthy and varied opponents that can help him improve as a fighter. The last known thing about him is that he met the famous Ryu, whom Alex looked for due to his fame as a warrior. Alex couldn't defeat him, in fact he was easily defeated, but this loss only filled him with excitement at the prospect of challenging Ryu again one day, this time as equals.

He weights 111 kg, is 1.95 meters tall, likes training and his family, and dislikes broccoli and people who cause troubles.[3]

Powers and Stats

Tier: 9-A | 9-A, possibly 8-B

Name: Alex

Origin: Street Fighter

Gender: Male

Age: Unknown

Classification: Human, Wrestling Champion

Powers and Abilities: Superhuman Physical Characteristics, Expert Wrestler and Kickboxer, Acrobatics, possibly Rage Power (Via Rage Shift and Rage Boost), minor Power Nullification (Via Sledgehammer and Flash Chop), Information Analysis (Correctly guessed[4] which type of car Abigail was imitating by making noises with his mouth), Damage Boost (Via Overhaul. Can also perform enhanced versions of his Special Attacks), Status Effect Inducement (Via Stun Gun Headbutt. By hitting the opponent repeteadly, without them being able to recover, he can cause them to enter the "Stun" status, which leaves them unable to react), limited Resistance to Precognition (Reading the future of fighters such as him is difficult, because they always fight[5] against it)

Attack Potency: Small Building level (Managed to defeat[6] a replica of SFA Ryu, causing visible damage over a large portion of the room where they battled. As a CWA champion[7], he should be comparable to past top-class wrestler of the same organization, all of whom could slam each other through the stage, leaving large holes behind) | Small Building level (Stronger than before), possibly City Block level (Supposedly[8] defeated Gill at the end of the fourth tournament, but it is unclear whether or not this has actually happenned, or how the fight went, given Gill's tendency to hold back and let worthy opponents win, as he did against Ibuki and Dudley)

Speed: High Hypersonic Travel and Combat Speed (Kept up with a replica of SFA Ryu) | High Hypersonic Travel and Combat Speed (Faster than before)

Lifting Strength: Class M (Physically comparable to SFA Ryu. As a powerhouse wrestling champion, he should somewhat ne comparable to Zangief and may may have also won a match[9] against him. Comparable to past CWA champions, who could slam each other through the stage) | Class M (Stronger than before and possibly comparable to Gill)

Striking Strength: Small Building level | Small Building level, possibly City Block level

Durability: Small Building level (Withstood hits from a replica of SFA Ryu and the recoil of his own blows) | Small Building level (More durable than before), possibly City Block level (Supposedly took hits from a serious Gill)

Stamina: Athletic (Fought and defeated replicas of many powerful fighters one after the other[6])

Range: Standard Melee Range

Standard Equipment: None notable

Intelligence: Average, Gifted in combat and Information Analysis (Expert in wrestling and kickboxing, and also champion of the former discipline. Showed his combat prowess by defeating replicas of E. Honda, Hakan, Birdie, SFA Chun-Li and SFA Ryu. Defeated[7] Dhalsim, although the yogi wasn't fighting seriously. Entered the fourth world tournament, most likely reaching the finals, and he may even have defeated Gill. In SFIII, his words reveal that he has become[10] a seasoned[10] and focused[10] fighter. Specialized[3] in survival tactics and large construction jobs. He is also[11] a NYC pizza connoisseur and is particularly skilled in fixing motorcycles, and other types of vehicles[6] too)

Weaknesses: Used to jump to conclusions too[7] early in SFV, although it is unknown if it's still valid for his SFIII self.

Note:

  • Alex's victory against Gill is only considered as "possibly" because of the lack of solid evidences and details.
  • Due to the questionable canonicity of the SFV Arcade Endings, Alex's victory against Zangief may have not actually occurred in-canon, although it wouldn't be inconsistent with the overall depiction of Alex's strength.

Fighting Style:

  • Chop: A downward knifehand strike.
  • Lariat: Alex wings his right arm at a 45 degree angle, spinning in place to complete the move.
  • Flying Cross Chop: Alex jumps forward, then alters his momentum and dives over the opponent with his hands crossed. Upon touching the ground, Alex performs a small roll and returns on his feet.

  • Face-Crush Chop: Alex pushes the opponent to make them lose balance, then strikes their face with a powerful chop that knocks them down.
  • Leg Tomahawk: Alex switches sides with the opponent and performs an Enzuigiri, kicking their temple and causing them to fall on their stomach.
  • Body Slam: Alex lifts the opponent with both hands and slams them face-first on the ground.

  • Flash Chop: A long-reaching, horizontal knifehand strike. With this attack, Alex can also destroy incoming projectiles, something he wouldn't normally be able to do. The EX version is stronger and faster.
  • Power Bomb: Alex places his opponent's head in between his legs, putting them in a standing headscissors position. With his arms around their waist, Alex jumps and lifts his opponent up on his shoulders. As Alex drops down, he slams his opponent back-first on to the ground. With the EX version, Alex rotates on himself while in the air, to build momentum and deal even more damage.
  • Power Drop: After delivering a Flash Chop, Alex wraps his arms around the opponent's waist, lifts them up and falls backwards while bridging his back and legs, slamming them back-first on the ground. With the EX version, the first suplex is followed by Alex rolling over the opponent and jumping backwards, in order to slam them on the ground once again.
  • Air Knee Smash: A technique used to counter airborne opponents. Alex leaps at an upward angle towards the opponent, planting his knee in their body. He then drives them down and crushes them between his knee and the floor. The EX version is stronger.
  • Slash Elbow: Alex dashes forward and attacks with a rising elbow strike. The EX version is stronger, faster and allows Alex to endure hits and avoid the interruption of the move.
  • Air Stampede: Alex jumps diagonally and dives over the opponent to stomp them. The EX version is stronger and allows Alex to endure hits and reach even far opponents.
  • Head Crush: Alex performs a flying somersault and lands in front of his opponent. He grabs their head and delivers a powerful headbutt that stuns them and makes them stumble backwards. The EX version is faster and allows Alex to jump farther.

  • Hyper Bomb: Alex grabs the opponent and performs two Power Drops and a Power Bomb.
  • Backdrop Bomb: A Flash Chop followed by five Power Drops.
  • Boomerang Raid: Alex alternates twice between punches and Flash Chops, ending the combo with a Power Drop.
  • Stun Gun Headbutt: A stronger version of his Head Crush. Alex headbutts the opponent four times. This move always causes the Stun status.
    • Heavy Hammer: Alex starts with a Flash Chop that makes the opponent spin in place. While still staggered, they are caught and slammed down by a Power Bomb. Alex rolls over and jumps high into the air, with the opponent still on his shoulder. Once he reaches the peak, Alex dives down at high speed and violently drives the opponent head-first into the ground. The opponent is then left stuck within the destroyed floor, with their legs pointing upwards.

    • War Hammer: Alex quickly dashes backwards to dodge an incoming attack and replies with a fast and powerful downward chop that strikes the opponent before they are able to react, knocking them down.
    • Big Boot: After blocking an attack, Alex counters with a side kick that knocks the opponent down.
    • Overhaul: Alex briefly works out his shoulder, powering up his next attack.
    • Overchain: Alex briefly squats down and stretches his legs. This allows him to string together his next two Special Attacks.
    • Rage Shift: Alex strikes a pose and becomes ready to use the following technique.
      • Sledge Hammer: Alex dashes forward and strikes the opponent with his arm stretched out. He can also charge the blow to increase the damage dealt. Another unique property of this technique, is to completely cancel out an opponent's attack while Alex is charging. After an attack is nullified, Alex can chose to either deliver the Sledge Hammer or stop to block another attack or perform another action.
    • Rage Boost: Alex stretches his back, ready to perform the following techniques.
      • Flying DDT: Alex leaps forward, trying to wrap his arms around the opponent's neck. If he manages to catch them, he applies a front facelock and swings around to fall backwards, driving his opponent's head into the ground.
      • Choke Sleeper: After delivering a Flash Chop, Alex positions himself behind his opponent. He wraps his arm around their neck, and squeezes it very tightly, causing them to crumble to their knees and fall unconscious.

  • Martial Arts: As an expert wrestler and kickboxer, Alex is a versatile fighter able to alternate between heavy strikes and devastating throws. It can be said that one of Alex's most dangerous weapons is the ground itself, as his opponents often have their head, face and upper back violently and repeteadly slammed down. Several of his wrestling techniques are classic staples of the discipline, such as suplexes, power bombs, lariats, and more. On the other side, his training in kickboxing has made him able to employ his whole body in combat; punches and kicks are supported by elbows, knees, open-hand strikes, tackles and headbutts. Thanks to his large physique, Alex possesses great reach, and is comfortable at fighting while standing, crouching and even in the air. He lacks ranged options to fight from a distance, but with his unusual mobility and footwork, he can quickly close the distance by sliding forward withouth having to build momentum. He also possesses an excellent defense, especially with techniques such as Sledge Hammer. Alex isn't a brute either, instead he is prone at studying the opponent and learning from them to exploit their weaknesses and improve himself[10]. Those who underestimate Alex will ultimately end up with more than just bruises, and would probably have to pull themselves out of the ground they've been driven into.
    • Acrobatics: The air is Alex's second home. In spite of his size, Alex is very agile and has no troubles attacking an airborne opponent, or assaulting them with jumping attacks. He can even alter his own momentum in mid-air, showed by techniques such as Flying Cross Chop, Air Knee Smash, Air Stampede and Heavy Hammer. These movements are especially useful when he needs to increase the force of an attack, dodge projectiles, reach a distant opponent. Alex can also perform a backflip to land safely on his feet when hit by lighter attacks during a jump. Similarly, he can roll backwards upon touching the ground and return in position, ready to keep on fighting.
