Alan is the main character of The Invincible Shovel. He is miner who after mining for hundreds of years started getting stronger and stronger, stopped aging and developed abilities with his shovel, defying the logic of the world.

Notable Attacks/Techniques
- Shovel Bolt: The ability to shoot beams of energy from his shovel.
- Shovel Launcher: By using the power contained within the shovel, Alan can convert earth into energy bullets, which he can fire with pinpoint accuracy.
- Shovel Search: A technique he learned in Layer #103 of the mountain, the Underground Sea of Trees. It allowed him to locate the origins of water, places where the liquid had gathered, and also ascertain the liquid’s quality.
- Time Shovel: A technique in which Alan turns his shovel to his target's past. By offering the shovel to them, he would be able to unearth their past the same way he’d unearthed all manner of precious things. He can also reverse the flow of time in an object to a certain point.
- Shovel Soldier An ability which creates an autonomous being capable of digging up all sorts of things and places. It was also capable of combat. The Shovel Soldier came equipped with a Mini Wave Motion Shovel Blast. In long-range combat, it had the power of over ten average knights.
- Dimensional Shoveling: By shoveling the very matter of space itself, Alan is able to create a dimensional rift that affects his target's vector, thereby changing its trajectory. It was an anti-dragon-breath technique that he’d developed specifically to deal with elder dragons. And since it wasn’t magical in nature , the dragon’s Magic Erasure ability was ineffective against it.
- Shoveling Record: A technique which unearths a person's memories which are stored in the Akashic Records deep within astral space, on the lowest level of the divine plane.
- Lightspeed Shoveling: A technique that allows him to move at lightspeed.
- Shovel Eye: An ability that made him wary to every little detail in even the darkest of surroundings.
- Shovel Sealing: A technique that allows him to seal his target's underground.
- Shovel Meteor: A technique in which Alan cuts the top of a mountain in half, and throws them into the sky. With his wide-range Shotgun Wave Motion Shovel Blast, he sends the giant ball of rock flying toward his enemy.
- Bubble Shovel: A technique that uses bubbles to transmit information in the water.
- Stealth Shovel: By cutting some letters, he is able to hide the true meaning of things, therefore hiding myself.
- Wave Motion Shovel Blast: The ultimate shovel technique, which is the essence of the shovel itself—a wave-like energy inherent in the process of digging and burying. At full power, it could harness the same amount of energy as the Big Bang, exploding outward in a bright blue wave beam.
- Shotgun Wave Motion Shovel Blast: Instead of firing a single beam in one direction, it fired multiple homing beams.
- Hyper-Wide Wave Motion Shovel Blast: Alan's wave motion shove blast, but with enormous area of effect. At a mere 20%, it can engulf and destroy an entire continent.
