Summary
Sonic the Hedgehog is a 2020 American CGI/live-action movie, named after and adapting Sega's titular video game character to the big screen, as of February 14th of that year. Aside from the now-three confirmed films, Paramount's adaptation of Sonic also has a novelization of the first movie, a short (called Around the World in 80 Seconds) taking place after the first movie, a canon prequel comic book for the second movie, and an upcoming television series starring Knuckles the Echidna planned for 2023. As it currently stands, Sonic the Hedgehog is the highest-grossing video game film adaptation of all time in North America.
On an unnamed planet far across the universe, filled with beautiful palm trees and loop-de-loops, a conflict arises. After freely using his natural-born powers despite being warned to not do so by the maternal figure Longclaw, a tribe of echidnas managed to trail the toddler-aged Sonic and ambush the hedgehog and owl. Using a golden Ring to open a portal to another planet, Longclaw reminds Sonic about the importance of keeping his powers hidden before coaxing him through the portal and ultimately leaving him alone. Ten years pass as Sonic keeps himself and his abilities hidden from the people of Earth, but a run-in with Tom Wachowski changes the course of his life forever and kickstarts the main events of the first film.
Power of The Verse
Paramount, Sonic's verse is one that isn't too impressive in terms of power, but has enough to hold its own weight. Tom Wachowski and Doctor Robotnik are Street level, an unamped Sonic is Wall level, Doctor Robotnik's Eggpod is Large Building level+, and a charged Sonic can output enough energy to knock out power throughout the Pacific Northwest that lands him at City level. Additionally, Sonic himself can perform a myriad of feats that reach all the way up to Relativistic speed.
Hax is nothing to be overlooked, though it isn't in abundance. Just one of Sonic's quills is stated to have “unlimited energy” and can produce fierce shocks, he can harness the emotionally volatile Chaos Energy in the form of electricity, slow down the perception of the world around him, and his Rings allow for travel throughout the universe. Doctor Robotnik's intellect allows him to create Badniks with heavy armaments, machinery that can harness said energy, and give chase to him despite his speed.
Feats of The Verse
- Tom destroys a Badnik (14,765.666 joules, 9-C+)
- Sonic's quill creates an explosion (31.2387602196 gigatons of TNT, 6-C)
- Eggman's aircraft destroys a sphinx and part of a pyramid (8.6 Tons, High 8-C+)
- Sonic knocks out power in the entire Pacific Northwest (35.61 Megatons, 7-B)
